kabel Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 (edited) (I'm currently ill and at home. Time to build some more stuff for Mitgardia before the challenges start! And actually I like LD's tribe so much, that I've just ordered a whole bunch more of the classic orcs ... ) Not very trustworthy sources have informed the Mitgardian government that a Nocturnian tribe, the Shraliek - so far believed a mere rumor, have infiltrated Southeastern Mitgardia in an area known as the rapids of no return. The rapids were not given this name because they are very dangerous, but because shortly after the rapids the water drops into Nocturnus were it eventually vanishes into shperes unknown. After the screwup with the Varlyrian sellswords, former high rank officer Eric Grimmson was given the opportunity to proof his worth again and investigate the issue. When Grimmson arrived at the rapids he did see one of those green little fellows munching on a freshly caught fish. But as soon as he aproached the funny creature disappeared into the bushes. Grimmson was confused, why was everybody so afraid of these little guys? So he decided to find a spot at were he could ford the river and investigate the issue further ... Thanks to Buurli Burri and LD for the inspiration! Edited October 10, 2013 by kabel Quote
narbilu Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Nice work with the plants ... the only question is, how to cross the water, without being pulled upstream Quote
kermit Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Excellent moc. The river secenry is captures so superbly. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Excellent landscape, kabel. I like how you used trans plates in the stream, they give the feel of a river much better than all trans bricks The trees and vegetation look great too. I'm looking forward to seeing what Grimmson finds out Quote
HammerBro Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Nice job with the use of foliage and technique for water. Another great build, kabel! Quote
LegoDrake Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Looks very nice kable! The river is spectacular looking,it looks like it is really moving! Quote
Gideon Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Great water technique! The small slope waterfall works very well also Quote
Mr Breden Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Great MOC! I love that water technique Quote
Infernum Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Great! Love the trees, foliage, and river technique! Will this story be continued? Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 As said by almost everyone the stream looks great, very natural! Quote
Legonardo Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Mate thats awesome! Is that the hair peice from tonto? I need to get one, that makes the coolest shraliek ever! Glad you like my tribe! Its one that will be showing up in alot of my mocs. Im particularly liking the dark tan bank, i dont see that often. Well done and keep it up! Quote
Waylander Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 With so few sand green heads to choose from, some imagination is called for - love the beard and head piece. Currently working on a tribe of green guys. Thanks for the inspiration. Quote
Yooha Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Nice Nocturnus crossover! I can see 'Shralieks in the Mist' Quote
kabel Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 Well thanks guys for all the nice comments, I'm actually quite happy myself about how the whole thing turned out! @narbilu: I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean! @sk: I build this because for book II I needed a reason to send one of my characters to Nocturnus, so depending on how the story of book II evolves, we'll see what Grimmson finds out. @LD: I liked your tribe the minute I saw them, so I had to put together some Shralieks myself. And yes, this is the Tonto hairpiece. By now I've got three of them already . But as you noticed, the whole idea for this build actually revolves around the idea of using dark tan for a riverbank, which is the color you would see very often in a riverbank, at least along the smaller rivers here in central Germany. And I finally had enough dark tan slopes to build this. As for the water, I simply added some white 1*1 and 1*2 white plates, some round 1*1s and some transparent slopes to the water technique Buurli had come up with. Quote
Bkrosell Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 I like the s.n.o.t. Stream, the greenery is also done well. Quote
mrcp6d Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 I really like the stream, especially at the lower camera angle. I do think a different color of flower would have been nice. The white gets lost for me. Oh, also: tree at an angle = winning Quote
kabel Posted October 12, 2013 Author Posted October 12, 2013 thanks for the comments! @mrcp6d: yeah man, the bank is eroding away, so the tree is about to fall into the water and vanish into Nocturnus, who knows what's going on there ... BTW, DC helped me with the photo editing a bit. Thanks a lot dude! Quote
Garmadon Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Nice build, kabel, and the photo editing does look great The combination of many different types of trees in one build works surprisingly well, good work on the banks and rockwork too Quote
soccerkid6 Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 That photo editing looks great! I'll have to look into photo editing myself, mainly just for brightness/color adjustment. I hadn't noticed the white plates for foam in the water, neat detail Also it's cool to see you're in the NuBreed Quote
