popkids Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I wondered about this, because I know I do. In fact, my usual Lego dream is the only recurring dream I have. In the dream, I'm always in a shop where I've found some sets that I didn't know existed. (Even in the dream, I remember which sets Lego released, so I always know when I've 'found' some new ones). The sets are always classic Castle in an 80s style, with the yellow 'sunset' background on the box. So then I get all excited and 'think' to myself 'I've got to get these before I wake up'. And of course that's always the point at which I wake up. Even though I sometimes get as far as getting out the money to pay for them, I never reach the point of buying the sets. My latest Lego dream was different however. This time, I was reading a catalogue and saw a different, much bigger version of the Guarded Inn. It was a different shape and lacked that set's fortified parts, but it had all four walls in the distinctive red and black, the roof made up of black slope bricks, and was listed as 'tavern' or 'inn' in the catalogue, which had it down as being released in 1984. I suppose the closest waking events to these have been finding much-desired, out of production sets on shop shelves (which has happened for me a couple of times, but not for many years, and one of which was the Guarded Inn) and discovering on Lugnet the existence of all those superb Castle sets which were never released outside the States, and of which I was totally unaware until the internet came along. So there they are. I hope nobody finds this post too boring or self-indulgent, but since we're all into Lego, I thought it would be a good place to share. I would be intrigued to read about any Lego dreams that anyone else has had. Quote
Brainbox Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Erm, much as I'd like to say yes, unfortuanately no. However that said, I have had dreams that have had Lego in them, but aren't actually about it. You know, go shopping and look at the Lego aisle before moving on disappointed. And yes, some of these dreams have had a few invented sets in them. Actually, I've had the same dream of this sort twice recently. Quote
Norro Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Yes, I have the found old/better sets dream at least a couple times a year. From what I can recall of threads on CC and Lugnet a lot of folks do... Interesting... God Bless, Nathan Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I always forget what I dreamt about when I wake up... Quote
Brainbox Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 So... you DO or you DONT have the same dreams? (You start you post by saying you dont have them and you finish it by saying you do :-/ ) I don't have dreams solely about Lego. But I do occasionally have dreams that feature Lego as a minor subject. As in, it isn't integral to the structure of the dream. Time for the science bit: We dream because our brain needs to stay active to stay sane. When we're asleep, our brain hasn't got much to do, because we're not seeing, talking, etc. That's probably why some people sleep walk- their brains are more active than usual. Anyway, dreams are made up of all the leftover bits of information not completely processed during the day. This is why dreams are often random, surreal or nonsence. Dreams can be triggered by a single thought, image or emotion occured during the day. Whether we remember dreams or not depends on when we wake up in our sleep patterns. If we wake up naturally at the end of a sleep cycle we probably won't remember a dream. If we wake up mid-cycle, we probably will. This is why we are more likely to remember dreams on weekends, days-off, etc than during the week, etc. Hope that helped someone. ;-) Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I don't think so...I have been thinking about LEGO a lot before I fall asleep, generally what projects I can make. I don't think this really counts as dreaming though... Quote
oo7 Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Errr.....I think I once dreamt that I received an existing Pirates set......I think. I don't remember any more than that.... 8-| Quote

Zaktan of the Shadows Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Yah... once I was hit by a Lego car as a mini-fig once. The police came and built me back together. That was the weirdest dream I had ever dreamed. -ZotS Quote

ghoulrealm Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 In one dream, I was in a store with a floor display of some unusual small sets that ranged from 2 to 12 dollars. They all had some nice specialized pieces to them. I don't remember most of them, but one was a small brick built hull pirate ship similar to the one in the 6277 Imperial Trading Post, but prodominately in brown and yellow. Just after I bought them all I woke up. :'-( In another dream, I was at a store with an endcap display of some kind of minifigs using the big foam soccer goalie hands and something else with droid parts. *wacko* There was also some new sets with some kind of new color that lego was using. I cant remember much more than that. And in the most recent, I had to leave the movie theater because they just implimented a pollicy that didn't allow dogs anymore! *wacko* So I took my chihauhau and some other poeples dogs, that I promised to watch until the end of the film, out back. I found some half broken mocs out on the ground with some decent type pieces on em. (I figured they were thrown out by a parent punishing their kid/s for acting up) While I was collecting the the pieces some of the dogs ran off, but in the end I got all the dogs back and the discarded legos. That is, until I woke up. :-D Quote

dillthepill Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Actually, I do strangely. All sorts of dreams. Sometimes I can be playing with LEGO in my dreams, buying the summer sets months early in stores, sometimes I have dreams where my friends try to make me drop LEGO, sometimes I'm an exo-force pilot, and even sometimes I dream up MOC's(usually Exo Force ones) that are really good and I make them when I wake up. Oh, and sometimes I have strange visions of new Exo-Force sets that give me ideas to make some more MOC's. Basically what I am saying is lots of my MOC's come from my dreams or "visions" Anyways, definately yep for me. Quote
ghoulrealm Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 For interesting dreams like that it would be nice to hear some professional opinion.... X-D It's a straight forward analysis of my desires for free lego, and to have my dog with me and animals in our lives everywhere. Also my anger of increasing limitations of dogs allowed in public. >:-( Not that a theater is good place to bring pets, but nor should babies be allowed :-P I'm a dog groomer, mainly so I can bring my dog to work with me :-P Quote
Optimax X Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Yes quite often, espcaially when i am excited about some lego sets that i have ordered. I don't have to wait in dreams, but the only problem is waking up, the number of times i wake up after i have a lego set in my hands in the dream, man, i get mad! I dream more about motorsport though :-$ Quote
Optikal Illushun Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 i have this reoccuring dream for the past few years, maybe once every month. im in a department store (cant remember the name, sometimes its wal-mart, kmart, boscovs, value city, etc...) and i find the lego section stocked full of old ealy 90 to late 90 (before they went down hill) sets. the themes vary from town, space, western mostly. they are all marked down on clearence to super low prices. sometimes i talk to a sales accossiate who said they found a pile of old sets in the back, other times they just magically appear. then i gather every set on the shelf and thats usually when i wake up. last night my lego dream happened again and it was chock full of spyrious, those robot sets like the dinosour, the spaces ones with the magnets, space police 1 and 2 and blacktron. man, i wish that was real...i <3 those space sets. sadly, something like this happened a few times. for the longest time i was at value city and kept seeing 1896 trama team (about 10 on the shelf) and a few times i went to boscovs and found some sets from the previous release or two.
