When should I expect the UCS Shuttle to be discontinued? I really want to pick one up, but I do not have the funds right now. I noticed that my local Lego store no longer has them in stock and that on Amazon they are $300 USD!

Should I assume they are currently being phased out and just grab one off bricklink, or is there some time still for them to be at retail?

Thanks

According to this post by hohesC it is expected that the UCS B-Wing will become available late august/early september, so it's my guess both the Imperial Shuttle and the Super Star Destroyer will be off the shelves by then.

I'm not so sure about the Shuttle, but the SSD will definitely still be available. UCS sets are usually around for 3-4 years. I know it's not a UCS, but look at the DS playset. It's been around since 2008!

10188 is a UCS set, isn't it?

This has been debated over and over again, but the short answer is that technically, no, it is not. It doesn't have 'UCS' in its name. It has a five-digit number because it's a LEGO Exclusive.

Huh. I always assumed that these constituted the 'Ultimate' sets:

I do seem to remember seeing it somewhere before, but has LEGO weighed in on the topic (other than this poster)?

I woudln't be surprised if the shelf-life of the Imperial Shuttle were to come to an end soon but I believe the Super Star Destroyer will be out for a while longer. It hasn't even been available for a year yet. I can see the Shuttle lasting until next summer and the SSD lasting until the Holidays of 2013.

I would hope that the shuttle owuld be out for up to another year... I want to make a Sentinel... and the 10212 would be an awesome starting point for one =s

Ultimate but not UCS.

7181 TIE Interceptor

7191 X-Wing

10019 Rebel Blockade Runner

10026 Naboo Starfighter

10030 Imperial Star Destroyer

10129 Snowspeeder

10134 Y-Wing

10143 Death Star

10174 AT-ST

10175 Darth Vader's TIE

10179 Millennium Falcon

10212 Imperial Shuttle

10215 Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter

10221 Super Star Destroyer

10227 B-Wing Starfighter

The poster says that those sets are ultimate, but it doesn't say that they're UCS. Notice that sets that are clearly not UCS (TIE Collection, Cloud City) are on the poster, while sets that clearly are UCS (UCS TIE/in, UCS T-65) are not.

Hey guys I was just wondering if there would be a possibility of LEGO to make a General Krell minifigure from The Clone Wars Umbara story arc. The reason why I ask is because a figure like that seems nearly impossible with the four arms and brand new head sculpt but knowing LEGO they might be able to get it done. Do you think it would be possible to see this figure in a future set or is it too tall of a task for LEGO?

Lord Garmadon in Ninjago has four arms:

With regards to 10212, on the box art, the lightsaber hilts are chrome. The ones I received are the sprayed grainy silver colour (not chrome). I thought this was one of the few sets you were guaranteed the chrome lightsaber hilts? Or was it simply lucky dip, or just not at all?

Since there are some better or worse custom made Krell figs, its already possible to have his four handed minifig. You just have to look through ebay. I think its only a matter of time until lego makes an official minifig.

I was one of the first getting the 10212 Imperial Shuttle, and it did indeed contain chromed lightsabers. Might very well b that they used leftovers for the first run, and went for silver coloured in later productions (which would be logic, as the silver coloured ones are way less expensive...)

I am not an expert, but I could see this could be rather difficult to make for LEGO.

LEGO figures arms are pushed into the torsos by a machine. this means two things: the machine is only setup to put one arm in one torso socket at a time, and anyone ever taken out an arm of a minifig and pushed it back knows that it takes quite some force to do so. Were you to drill a hole beneath the 'normal' one in the torso of a minifig, it might be that the ABS plastic, now weaker due to an extra hole, get cracks once the 'upper' arms are put into place, and thus lead to a faulty product.

Also, the machinery used for putting the arms into the sockets works at high speed. If the machinery need to put a set of extra arms into the torso, the machinery loses about 50% capacity, leading to production capacity problems, and LEGO wouldn't want that.

Q: Can't LEGO just supply extra arms with a torso that has extra holes?

A: They could, but as it takes a lot of force putting the arms in the torso, it's less suitable for kids. And believe it or not, Star Wars LEGO are toys ;-)

Therefore I think the only save, cheap option for aminifig with extra arms is indeed this one:

To my great disappointment, mine came with the grainy silver hilts as well. I believe the chromed hilts went out of production some time ago and they used up the remaining supply as long as they had them, and substituted them for the grainy silver ones once they ran out of the chromed ones. I miss the chrome hilts though, they were very nice and shiney.

I was at a Lowes yesterday and I saw the Character Encyclopedia, they had 4 of them. I looked at the cover to where Han should be and they were all empty... That's not right, is it? The fig should be in the lower right window?...

It's not. It should. The 'Figs were stolen. :cry_sad:

Or... in order to avoid them being stolen, they were actually at the cash register of the store

Unlikely. The 'Figs are sealed in.

Are you sure? The ones here in Europe most certainly are closed with a clear sticker on the inside, open and closes like a breeze...

Most likely, the figs were stolen. I really don't think four little toys are a priority in Lowes eyes to keep them by the cashier.

Two questions:

I have been building the imperial shuttle, and some of the types of white parts seem a bit yellowish, has anyone else had that?

And does the nonUCS tie advanced (so darth vader's from ep 6) match the new tie fighters in size?

Some of my oldish white pieces seem to yellow with age, too.

The should use Crest white stripes  .
