DarthPotato Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Has there ever been any MOC made about scenes from the Star Wars Holiday Special (1978) film? Yes, the Star Wars Holiday Special, the actual SECOND Star Wars movie, the movie that Lucas and 99.99% of every Star Wars fan in existence tried to erase from history! ... But it's on youtube now! I don't know why anyone would want to make a MOC about that... I never watched the entire thing, so I don't know what scenes you could make, but there must be some MOC's for it out there. Quote

Ki-Adi-Mundi Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Well, is it possible to get special line minifig heads from S@H or somewhere else (official retailer)? I recently became such fond of the latest LSW and LOTR minifig faces that i do consider to change the yellow ones of my other sets. Quote
DarthPotato Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I have a question regarding the summer 2012 Star Wars sets. Is Jabba's Palace worth the retail price? I already have Palpatine's Arrest and Saesee Tiin's starfighter and now I'm wondering if I should get the Palace too. Thanks in advance. Quote

Saw it, hated it. Yeah, I agree the 10 minute cartoon with Boba Fett was the only redeeming part. And it had pretty much nothing to do with the rest of the film. Bea Arthur minifig in a cantina set = :laugh_hard: Quote

Darthluke824 Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Hi all, I have a strange question, last year 3 Minis from the Advent Calendar got made into Minifig Scale sets. Do you think that any of this years Minis from the 9509 Calendar will make it into next years line up? Examples: -Mini Star Destoyer into one like 6211 (Big one I.E 100cm, filled with figs like 10188 but less price!) -Queen Amidalas Ship from Ep1 (Reusing 2012 Queen Amidala) -Flash Speeder (With Panaka Hat) -Tan Shuttle Thanks Quote
Masked Builder Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 I think that was just LEGO having some fun. I guarantee you the large sets were done long before the minis were. Quote
icarusbird Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Hi everyone! This is my very first post on EB (so I'm sorry if I do it wrong), but I've been reading these forums like mad for the past week since I got back into LEGO recently with a few purchases on eBay. To cut to the chase: I'm really starting to worry I may have overpaid for a lot of Star Wars vehicles I bought a few days ago. Here's the link to the finished auction [EDIT: oops forgot I can't post links since I'm a noob], but in case you can't see it, I paid $400 USD for a Star Destroyer 6211, AT-AT 4483, 2x AT-ST 7657, TIE Bomber, TIE Fighter, [sUPPOSEDLY] Darth Vader's TIE (doesn't look like what I see on LEGO's site), a bizarre TIE crawler thing, and a couple of dropships and speeders. The seller claims the sets come with pretty much all the minifigures, but no boxes or manuals. So what do you think? Did I get taken for a ride?? At first I thought it was a steal, but now after researching the original prices of these sets I'm getting a little worried. Anyways, I'm already a big fan of Brickdoctor and Cavegod and many others. You guys are some truly talented artists. Can't wait to start contributing! P.S. All the TIEs are the lame ones which are inexplicably adorned with bright blue trim. Quote
DFOL Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 (edited) I'd say $400 is a reasonable estimate for the current value of those sets, provided they're complete and in a fair condition. But does that make it a good deal? I think that depends more on how much you like the sets you bought. And somehow i get the feeling you're already not overly enthousiastic about the blue colored TIE models... Edit: P.S. I almost forgot to say: Welcome to the Eurobricks community icarusbird! Hmm, well that's good news! I see it the same way as you though; the TIEs aren't that great and the AT-STs are a little disappointing, but I'm hoping to salvage enough parts from those sets to MOC my own snowspeeder and AT-ST (did I use that term correctly??). Thanks DFOL! Quote
DFOL Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 No problem icarusbird, have lots of fun building! Quote

Thanks in advance. check amazon periodically, I got mine for 100.00 USD free shipping a about week ago!! Is the Malevolence worth $120.00 USD or is it a waste of money ? "a waste of money" is a relative term really. If you want it go for it! If you think you will get enjoyment out of building it then you should buy it. what is a waste of money to someone else may not be to you! It is about 11 cents a brick, which is right around the average star wars sets in the US market. Edited August 11, 2012 by stephen_rockefeller Quote
nrg Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I have a interrresting question. What gonna happen with the retailer catalogs? Will be send back? Destroyed? Quote
Darthluke824 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 (edited) I have a interrresting question. What gonna happen with the retailer catalogs? Will be send back? Destroyed? Well it depends, my local LEGO Stockist keeps his under the till, he even offered to give me the old ones! I suppose Toys R Us must get rid of them, not sure about other shops though! I wouldn't say destroyed as they only have prototypes with big watermarks on them. Edited August 11, 2012 by Darthluke824 Quote
DFOL Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Is the Malevolence worth $120.00 USD or is it a waste of money ? It has a quite decent price-per-part ratio, so it's not a bad deal from that perspective. So it comes down to the most important question: do you really like the set? Quote
Darthluke824 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Hi all, I need some good advice! I have recently sold something to a friend of mine and (Of course!) I want to buy even more LEGO! The sets that I want are: 9494 Jedi Interceptor 9525 Mando Fighter Can anyone say to me with one is better than the other as I only have the money for one! By the way I like both equally so thats why I am asking! Thanks! Quote

The sets that I want are: 9494 Jedi Interceptor 9525 Mando Fighter Can anyone say to me with one is better than the other as I only have the money for one! By the way I like both equally so thats why I am asking! Thanks! The fact that you like both sets equally doesn't really make it any easier for us you know! I can't say which set is better, but i'll try to help you decide. I don't know if you are a collector or if you actively play with your sets, but one thing you may want to take into consideration is play/collectors value. What set do you think will offer the most play or collectors value for your money? Another thing you may want to take into consideration is what the sets are based on. The Jedi Interceptor set is based on a movie, the Mandalorian Fighter on the Clone Wars series. Just think and answer this question: right at this moment, which do you like more? If you are totally into the Clone Wars series at the moment, you may enjoy the Mandalorian Fighter more. Or vice versa if you think the movies are better. Yet another thing you may want to take into consideration is availability. The Jedi Interceptor was released before the Mandalorian Fighter and will be retired earlier. Are you planning on getting the other set later on anyway? Then it might be smart starting with the set that will go out of production first. Well, i hope this helps a bit. Quote
AMC Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Long time reader, decided to post... I recently bought Palpatine's Arrest and it is a pretty cool set. Great minifigs, and the set itself has cool features. I haven't bought legos much recently but I am looking into buying more. And I am wondering what any of you guys think I should spend money on next, I would prefer not any Clone Wars sets. And also, it seems like future sets might add on to Palpatine's office...a lot of extra prong holes seems interesting. Quote

If so, you NEED to get the Fury, and probably also the Republic Striker. If not, save your money. They are ridiculo-spensive, especially the former. I gather the current TIE Fighter set is more or less definitive, and has been almost uniformly marked down to £35 in Britain, so that's good. Another good buy is the Desert Skiff, which surprised me in all the right ways. It's bigger than it looks, has some fantastic minifigs, and very swooshable. And if money's not an object, the UCS Imperial Shuttle has its fans. I'm not one, as money really is an object for me. £250? Jog on. Quote

Clone Wars I don't watch but I like the sets, especially the Gunship, Battle Of Geonosis etc. I think I will get the Mando Fighter, plus the Interceptor is more likely to be reduced. The Mando Fighter it is. Thanks for all the advice. Edited August 19, 2012 by Darthluke824 Quote

Unfortunately the exclusive retailer in oz wants $118 for it which is outright robbery. Quote
