August 19, 201212 yr Long time reader, decided to post... I recently bought Palpatine's Arrest and it is a pretty cool set. Great minifigs, and the set itself has cool features. I haven't bought legos much recently but I am looking into buying more. And I am wondering what any of you guys think I should spend money on next, I would prefer not any Clone Wars sets. And also, it seems like future sets might add on to Palpatine's office...a lot of extra prong holes seems interesting. Hello AMC, first of all a very warm welcome to the EB community! What you should spend your money on depends greatly on two things: your personal taste and your budget. Looking at this years movie oriented sets i'd say that The X-Wing, TIE Fighter, Jabba's Palace, Desert Skiff and Gungan Sub are all excellent sets with a superb collection of minifigs. There are some older movie based sets still available as well. Personally i think the Sith Fury is also very nice, but i don't know if the Expanded Universe (like Old Republic) interests you. And you usually get very much value for your money with UCS sets. Even without taking Clone Wars sets into consideration there is a wide selection to choose from, so basically take your pick! As for addons to Palpatine's office... it's possible, but somehow it doesn't seem likely to me. I think the modularity is just there so you can reconfigure the set itself in any way you see fit. Are you an Old Republic player? If so, you NEED to get the Fury, and probably also the Republic Striker. If not, save your money. They are ridiculo-spensive, especially the former.(...) You'd be surprised about that actually. I did the math a while ago, and these sets have a quite average price-per-part ratio. Of course my calculations are based on dutch prices, but surely prices in the UK can't be that much off the mark? Edited August 19, 201212 yr by DFOL
August 19, 201212 yr Hello AMC, first of all a very warm welcome to the EB community! What you should spend your money on depends greatly on two things: your personal taste and your budget. Looking at this years movie oriented sets i'd say that Jabba's Palace, Desert Skiff and Gungan Sub are three excellent sets with a superb collection of minifigs. Of course my calculations are based on dutch prices, but surely prices in the UK can't be that much off the mark? It's not just about price-per-part. It's about a toy costing £80. That's an expensive toy by anyone's standards. While I love it to bits, I know that if I wasn't an avid TOR player, I would have bought the TIE Fighter at £35 instead.
August 19, 201212 yr Funny that you mentioned the TIE Fighter, i was just adding that set and the X-Wing to my previous post as you were replying. Any OT fan should have an X-Wing and TIE Fighter i think, and these versions are very nice!
August 19, 201212 yr Are you an Old Republic player? If so, you NEED to get the Fury, and probably also the Republic Striker. If not, save your money. They are ridiculo-spensive, especially the former. I gather the current TIE Fighter set is more or less definitive, and has been almost uniformly marked down to £35 in Britain, so that's good. Another good buy is the Desert Skiff, which surprised me in all the right ways. It's bigger than it looks, has some fantastic minifigs, and very swooshable. And if money's not an object, the UCS Imperial Shuttle has its fans. I'm not one, as money really is an object for me. £250? Jog on. Hello AMC, first of all a very warm welcome to the EB community! Thanks for the suggestions, and the welcome! I am actually from the US (I am a bit jealous you all get some sets first haha) I would love to get a Jabba's Palace but my wallet is a bit empty after getting Palpatine's Arrest. So I will probably get a cheeper set, something like Anakin's Jedi Intercepter. I think I wil save my money for the AOTC sets that are coming out eventually (hopefully).
August 19, 201212 yr As an avid SWTOR player (pm me for more), and for non SWTOR players, I definitely recommend the FURY! SWEET BUILD! There are a few great ideas on this ship...creating the angles of the wings, the slide out hidden compartement in the aft, and the cockpit design. As I was building it, I got the wings on and thought how loose and unstable the ship really was, until the next step when I plugged in the technic pins to hold everything in place! Super Swooshable! Didn't even bother with building the Republic Striker, just the figs and the droid, which is a very good representation. The Desert Skiff is much different compared to the one from years back. Let alone the minifigures that are included; it's a decent little build. I wasn't impressed with Jabba's palace at first glance, other than the fantastic minifigures that were included. But after parting the set out last night, this is a great set. Again, that's for parts and figs. I did not build it, I just tore it apart. If money is your concern, then hey, let's be honest...LEGO may not be for everyone. It's a premium product that holds up over time (except for some instances of white fading or yellowing way to fast) and with that premium product comes a price.Don't forget, these are all fairly new sets that will be around for a while. So keep your eyes open and look for those deals.
August 19, 201212 yr Definately going to pick up the Sith Fury myself. Even though i think it has been scaled down way too much, i still think the designers did a superb job on this model. And the minifigs just make this set a must have for me. AMC, if you're looking for more affordably priced sets that are still good value for your money, i can definately recommend the Desert Skiff. The skiff itself is a really nice model, and it comes with four awesome minifigures.
August 20, 201212 yr Good choice, the Mandolorean is high on my list and as soon as I can can track one down for a reasonable price I'll get one. Unfortunately the exclusive retailer in oz wants $118 for it which is outright robbery. 1.The Mandolorian Shuttle is 90$ at K-Mart 2.Why is Lego so expensive in Australia??????? 3.I have wasted 2000$ on A Moc for the last 2 1/2 years but it is indeed awesome.
August 21, 201212 yr I've just come in contact with this race from star wars. I can not believe I've missed them Regarding that all my knowledge of SW canon come from 6 movies, I do not know if Lego is taking characters from other media. So, my question is - did Lego made any character from this race (links would be great), and if not, are they ever mentioned trough rumors or in official plans? They would provide a great array of weapons, pointed ears helmets and hairs and weapons :) wiki
August 21, 201212 yr So, my question is - did Lego made any character from this race (links would be great), and if not, are they ever mentioned trough rumors or in official plans? They aren't in any sets to my knowledge, and I haven't heard an rumors regarding them. They do look like you could easily make your own, using the tan orc from the LOTR line.
August 21, 201212 yr Chances of a Yuuzhan Vong set being made are very, very slim. The book series has long ended, and it was controversial to say the least when it was done. They were by several different authors, all with their own ideas and not all of them respectful to one another... or the franchise as a whole. The decision to kill off Chewbacca caused a storm in itself, and the Vong were often seen as more Star Trek than Star Wars. So yeah. Not super-popular, and now long-passed.

August 21, 201212 yr Can a normal droid (ie R2D2) fit in the droid socket in TOR republic Starfighter?
August 21, 201212 yr How is it "Star Trek-ish"? Because they're presented as a mysterious, external threat, like the majority of hostile aliens in Star Trek. Star Wars has most of its antagonists coming from within its own borders.

August 21, 201212 yr I don't have the set, but i am pretty sure the Striker Fighter does not have a droid socket. Just checked and it doesn't.

My thoughts exactly! They sure do look a lot like Orcs, so if you really want your own Yuuzhan Vong, these come close enough i think.
August 21, 201212 yr I'll merge this with the LEGO Star Wars Questions thread that is pinned at the top of the forum, since this would fit in perfectly.
August 21, 201212 yr Just checked and it doesn't. Those were the days when men were real men, women were real women, and no-one needed a goddamn robot to help them fly their spaceships.
August 21, 201212 yr Those were the days when men were real men, women were real women, and no-one needed a goddamn robot to help them fly their spaceships. even thought that flying is for droids :)
August 22, 201212 yr Because they're presented as a mysterious, external threat, like the majority of hostile aliens in Star Trek. Star Wars has most of its antagonists coming from within its own borders. I'd agree. The Vong reminded me of the Borg. Where the Borg were difficult to hurt because they adapted so quickly and had such advanced tech, the Vong were difficult to hurt because they existed outside the Force and had unique organisms that were advanced biological warfare. In the end, I doubt the Vong would make the cut into the Lego Star Wars series. I'm sure they'd be a weak seller.
August 22, 201212 yr I'm sure they'd be a weak seller. Well I think that depends on a design, starwars fans will buy anything that has starwars label, and others, like monster fighters or castle fans, will buy them for their armor (the only reason why I buy SW sets - minifigures, and I am a castle fan). The same will happen with Sauron's minifig - most people will buy him for helmet and armor, not for what he represents in the story :) And about making it yourself - every (EVERY:) character from any franchise can be made out of lego, with some imaginations :) But still we are so happy when we receive an official Bane or queen Amidala :)) - because of the new designs that later we can use to make some other characters that we are missing :) Edited August 22, 201212 yr by Angeli
August 22, 201212 yr Out of my excitement, I found my Cloud City Lego set in my basement last night; built to about 75%. All I need to do is dig through my giant ziplock bags full of legos from when I was a kid and recover all the minifigs and missing pieces. Just wanted to get some opinions on what I should do when it is complete. Sell (over $1,000) or keep? (I also found my Jango Slave 1 completely together with both minifigs.) August 23, 201212 yr I have a question about minifigs. I´m wondering if someone have a good way of index one´s minifigs? I have tried brickset and minifigs.nl but if you a simpler way to make for example a wanted list, it would be great. I´m only collecting OT and are right now constructing some display stands, one for the good and one for the evil!
August 23, 201212 yr Aaand I have another question: I only watched 6 Star Wars movies. I would like to know (and watch more), and while googling, I found out that there are two animated "Attack of the clones" series, made in 2003. and in 2008. How should I watch them, in what order? Should I watch both of them (i.e. are they connected, are they part of cannon story), or is one just updated and digitalized first one? Any info will be nice :) Thank you
