Here is my opinion about the slave 1:

I'm not really fond of the ship in the star wars universe and I bought it to see how it is. If I didn't like it, I'd just keep the box and resell it later when it's retired. I also bought it for a fun build.

Now that I have it, I think it's a really nice model. It just looks impressive, and is now part of my collection. The detail is just amazing.

I don't think you will be disappointed about it.

Just my opinion

Well the Slave 1 is without any doubt the most weird design in star wars. If you just cant get along with its general look, you probably wont like the UCS Lego Version neither.

To me personally the weird design makes it even better than the other, more classic/conservative designs and top of that Lego did a phenomenal job with the UCS Version.

I would always be my first recommendation when someone asks me what Lego SW they should buy. The Minifigures are great, the build is awesome (especially for UCS who often become pretty repetitive and monotonus to build), the final model is fantastic.

The only negative aspects might be that the wings are hanging a bit down and the back side is a bit hollow, but aside from that I cant really complain. I bought it around 2 months ago for 230 bucks on amazon, it was more expensive than retail (200) but still absolutely worth it.

If you consider to buy one of these UCS Sets, then I suggest you do it as soon as possible. As of now the Slave 1 can still be bought for a reasonable price, but you can believe that after its retirement and especially IF we are going to see another movie that features the ship or boba fett, the prices for the Set will explode. For the UCS Tie probably not that hard, but all UCS Models tend to increase in price extremely!

I think the Slave 1 makes more of a statement. The Sandcrawler is neat and all, but I find its actual physical size to be fairly underwhelming, especially given the piece count.

I found the Sandcrawler was the more challenging building experience with a great vehicle, It has fantastic play features and nifty figures come with it... as a playset it is up there with the Death Star and the Ewok Village but looked upon it just seems like a rusty brown box with some threads under it... the Slave 1 on the other hands just looks so great with those really odd shapes of the ship realized with LEGO.

Imho both sets are well worth the price tag (paid full price for the Slave 1 as I ordered it on the first day it was out! - got the Sandcrawler with 20% off, so it "felt" a little cheaper there...) Personally I'd go for the Slave 1 first... It's bound to become a very collectible set and a sought after item in the future.

I don't think this needs a dedicated thread so I'll merge it with the General Q&A in a bit :classic:

In reply to your question they're both great sets, but personally I prefer the Slave 1.

Hello everyone

Ive just got into Lego again after 20 years. My first set back in was the UCS Tumbler which was at the middle of last year. I have since Got X-Wing 10240 and UCS Tie Fighter. Im having trouble displaying these as they are huge!

I am now looking for another set to build. Its either going to be Slave 1 or Millennium Falcon 75105. Now in the UK both of these are quite hard to get. Which one in your opinion will be retired 1st? I would have though Slave 1 but Amazon.co.uk seem to think they will not get in any other TFA Falcon and on Lego it says "Temp out of stock" with no restock date.

Any ideas would be welcome.

In my experience the Falcon seems to be more scarce. I just bought and built it yesterday, and it's a fantastic set! I've heard some complaints about the Slave 1, but as I don't own the set, I can't comment on it.

Here you go...

The TIE is bigger than you think if you were thinking of getting it...

Thanks I have seen the TIE in person and I didnt find it as impressive as I thought it would be I thought the wings were a bit too thick and the body was too square looking. Having said that I will probably get it at some point.

I am edging towards the sandcrawler again now after watching speed builds of the slave 1 and the sandcrawler and also because the sandcrawler is an older set so will be retired sooner. If I find it disappointing I can probably sell it on in a few months time without loosing money.

I would get the slave 1 there have been many versions of the none ucs falcon, it hasn't been out long and if you did miss it there will be another in a few years time or it will be cheaper second hand than the slave 1.

Probably a remarkably simple answer, but the new imperial battlepack 75134 features a "Control Console". I cant work out for the life of me if this is supposed to be a vehicle or a stationary unit. Can anyone shed any light on this and put my poor mind at rest?

Generally speaking the battlepack vehicles/extras tend to be just stuff made up by lego, i havent played the game yet, but i think this is just something made up as well, it looks stationary to me, like a command point with some strategic displays etc..

This is some kind of stationary structure.
