Oh :look: . But will the summer sets be available by May the 4th? If not, then when?

No, the summer wave won't be available in the spring. In the past, the earliest we've seen the summer wave is June in parts of Europe.

(and just as well, because we only get the rest of the "winter" (northern hemisphere - it was summer here) at that time. I'm still waiting for that MHC set to get the new Ahsoka. So you'd better not be getting the next wave already!) Case in point last year, I managed to have the Sith Fury ship sent (slowly, mind you) via BL to me from Europe before it was available in USA. Despite my rubbish camera at the time, my Flickr views went nuts. Nice change from waiting many months after everyone else has the sets... Galaxy Squad anyone?

I want to update the heads of my fleshy figs so that they all have the pupils that the newer figs have, any suggestions on what heads to use for:

-Tarkin (Probably the most important of these characters that has yet to be redesigned)

-Owen Lars (Obi Wans seems closest but they use the same hair so he would just be Obi Wan)

-Wedge (The generic Pilot head isn't all that bad)

-Crix Madine

-Mon Mothma

-Biggs (By far the hardest for me to find anything even remotely close.

You could use the new Piett head for Biggs, and the Imperial Officer from the 2012 TIE Fighter for Tarkin. Use the generic pilot head for Wedge (and possibly the Celebration Leia head for Mon Mothma?)

Thanks for sharing! It's too bad he didn't give any hints for that last question, but I honestly wasn't expecting any. Unless mentioning "Bantha fodder" is supposed to be a subtle hint....

There are a few useable fleshies outside of SW. A couple of reasonably generic ones that might flex. The PotC Cook figs head might work for Owen Lars. The King George's Officer might be ok for General Madine. For Tarkin maybe a Lex Luther head? For Mon Mothma the Wonder Woman head? Biggs, maybe the Comissioner Gordon one? It has a bushy mustache and the glasses look a little like goggles? (Ok I'm reaching with Biggs).

Hi, I haven't purchased any lego sets for the longest time but after seeing all the LSW at my work place...I kinda want to buy a set or 2. At my workplace in Canada, we've got a decent number of the 2012 SW sets and I'm wondering which would be some good sets to start off with.

Although I do hear good things about the Desert Skiff...I don't really see while it's so appealing...? In my eyes the 9497 Republic Striker Starfighter and 9493 X-Wing look like the best sets? I suppose part of this is that I've never owned a Lego starship before.

But yes, I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for the 2012 SW sets and why. As for price wise...not really a problem since I've got 30% discount. However I will say this now, but I've no plans to buy the Millenium Falcon. Thanks!

If you want the X-Wing, get the 2012 Tie Fighter too for a battle, and the same with the Striker-class- the Sith Fury is its counterpart. If you opt for the latter, then in the future you might be able to pick up some TOR BPs and have a TOR diorama.

However, you could buy Jabba's Palace and then maybe the Skiff to go along with it. It depends.

Options I'd go for:

1) X-Wing and Tie Fighter

2) Striker-class, Sith Fury and TOR BP

3) Jabba's Palace, Desert Skiff, possibly Rancor Pit (if you're willing to spend $200!)

Hmm..personally I don't seem to like the Tie Fighter or Sith Fury...don't hate on me...I just don't think they look as nice as the others...

Also what is TOR BP I take it TOR is The Old Republic. I like SW but I'm not like a huge fan, so in my eyes something like the Desert Skiff seems unattractive...? Unless there's some other underlying reason for its popularity which I'm just in the dark about.

But thoughts on X-Wing vs Striker Starfighter?

Posted

Are you looking for playability or purely shelf display?

The X-wing and Striker are similar, but the Striker's wings move a little different to the X-wing for a streamlined look.

The Skiff has some great minifigs with Luke, Lando and Boba all included, it's an iconic scene from RotJ

The Sith Fury is actually a really good build and I recommend it as a great buy from a design and look

I don't have an X-Wing, I do have the Striker. It's a nice ship, even though the colours are a bit weird. TOR BP means The Old Republic battle pack, ie the recent set with 4 troopers and a handful of pieces. And the attraction to the Desert Skiff is mostly for the minifigs included at the price. Boba Fett is sought after, and previously in a more expensive set. But I did buy it also for the brown parts included.

What are you looking for in a set? A fun/interesting build? Parts to reuse for other things? Minifigs? Final model for display? Being SW, is it from a scene you like? Each different factor changes what your preference is.

Personally, because there are so many sets and SW isn't the only theme, I try to limit it to sets that include minifigs I want.

Ah for me it's mostly shelf display but also being fun to build. I haven't bought Lego since...a decade ago or so? I have however always wanted some sort of starship and back in my childhood I did admire the X-Wing. I honestly don't have any particular favourite scenes since most of my SW experience has been from books.

And yes I do see lots of people loving the TIE Fighter but for some reason...I find it...plain...? Just doesn't seem to appeal to me, maybe I'd have to watch the movies more...I guess...I like sleek looking ships? The only TIE craft I like would be the 7181 TIE Interceptor.

So I guess after the longest time w/o Lego, I guess I want my first purchase to be impressive...and if this is the case...should I wait for the release of the

10240 Red Five X-Wing Starfighter?

The republic Stryker class Starfighter and the X-Wing from 2012 are both good ships in their own way, The X-wing looks like an X-Wing should, I guess the purchase depends on how you want to display/play (if I can term it that way) with it. I think its one of those personal preferences. An Icon is usually a great choice for your first set though.

Hmm I think I will get the Striker Starfighter b/c after looking at the pics between the 9493 and the 10240....the 9493 looks like..."childish"...too spoiled by the UCS version.

The appeal of the skiff is it has some really great figs for a $20 set. Not as much the build or display model.

For a newly returning fol and Star Wars fan you will probably like a nice swoosh able ship to start off. Something classic that looks good on your desk. These would be some of my suggestions,

9492 tie fighter. Perhaps the best tie Lego has ever made. Decent figs, not too pricey.

9493 x wing Starfighter. Great x wing model. Great figs including Porkins. Pretty much a SW must have.

75003 a wing Starfighter. $24 set looks great, swooshes well. A wing pilot, Han Solo, admiral Akbar. Great low price set.

9500 Sith Fury, an obscure ship as its frOn a TOR period video game. But it fits well with regular era SW. Great figs, and an incredibly detailed and challenging build. Just a fun set.

You could also try to consider the Maleovolence, if you like that one, it has good build and much playability. But if you don't like it or it doesn't appeal to you somehow, I think you should not buy it then.

Still the most obvious choice for you is the X-wing, you should at least buy that one, or maybe the UCS x-wing from legoshop, but then you won't have 30% discount.

After the x-wing, if you like it, you could buy another set, and another, and another...
