Ki-Adi-Mundi Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Thank you for your quick replies. I'll try a knife next time and slice through the glue. Indeed it's the bigger boxes that i care about the most. They are well sealed but use to suffer in appearance. Their fold-open function is not the best patent at all. Quote
miles teg Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Hi, does anybody here know if the Sun newspaper is going to be running their Lego polybag giveaway in the UK this summer ?? I grabbed a boxload of Star Wars and Batman minis last year and could do with some more ! Quote

kibosh Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I just finished building my 7965 Millenium Falcon. While not a great build, certainly not bad, either. I have a question though about it. What is the piece that slides down into the middle section supposed to be? Is it supposed to represent the access to the gunner stations? Quote

You can sit two figs on there back to back and they are supposed to be operating the quad lasers. Quote
kibosh Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Ahh. Thanks. Guess I would have figured that out had I bothered to look more closely at the box. Quote

CaptainCRO Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Is there anyone who owns The old republic gunship and the old AT-TE(either 2008 or 2002)? I would like to know if any of you are planning to buy the upcoming RGS and AT-TE? I can't decide If I should buy the new models. I have CW versions and they are really good, but these new ones just look so much better + they have awesome non-CW minifigs. But, I'm not sure if I want to spend 200$(maybe even more because I'm in Europe) on two sets that look pretty similar to the sets I already have. What are your opinions on this? Maybe I should mod them? Quote

Maybe I should mod them? Honestly, I would not buy either set if I already had the older ones. They're not all that much better from what I can tell and you can probably just Bricklink the figs you want albeit for a small premium. The RGS would probably increase in value over a few years like the older ones did so, you might want a few just for the eventual resale value.I don't have either of the older RGS or AT-TE so it looks like I will probably get two of each. Ouch! My wallet is already in pain. Quote

Maybe I should mod them? The answers to your first questions are yes, and yes. I agree that the new AT-TE looks better than the previous one, but I disagree that the new gunship looks better than the old one. The new Gunship has a handle which is pretty nice, but I prefer the old canopies, the way the whole part around it was designed, the fact that part 4515 was used for the "side doors", and that the set came up with a nifty sticker set. My overall impression is that the old RGS looks somehow bulkier, and that's exactly what I like. Personally, I'd buy the new sets. Quote

Maybe I should mod them? I have the old ones, or actually I did have them. I sold them both, firstly because I like the new ones better, but the main reason is I want to have two RGS and two AT-TE's, and I thought it would look strange if they were different versions. By the way, did you notice that "the old republic gunship" looks a bit like "TOR Gunship"? At first I thought that, but then realised there was never a set like that released :p Quote
Fuppylodders Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Ill be getting both, and I have both of the older most recent versions. Quote

Dragonfire Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I'm not sure what to buy right now- I have a half-full wallet and a list of sets which I may want at some point. I collect mainly CW sets and am an army builder. I also like my bounty hunters. The sets I am deciding between are: 2009 Assassin Droid BP 2011 Bounty Hunter Gunship 2011 Dathomir Speeder (I haven't got any Anakins or the previous Ventress) 2013 Mandalorian Speeder 2013 Umbaran MHC 2013 Homing Spider Droid 2013 Corporate Alliance Tank Droid At the moment, I'm leaning towards the Mando Speeder and the MHC, but I'm still not sure... Quote
Captain Settle Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I want the madalorian speeder as well, so I say that. The MHC would be cool to have too, due to the fact that you would get a new CW faction with it, so I say you should get those. Quote
8BrickMario Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 My question regards very good news indeed. Why is the 2010 Republic Swamp Speeder only going for a few cents over its retail price on Amazon.com? Is it because everyone complained about the price and Barriss being the saving grace of the set? I do want to get the old Offee, and put the new one's hood and a dark blue cape on her, to look like an even more film-like representation. But the Speeder. Why is it going so cheap on Amazon, especially since it was an exclusive and is now discontinued? Quote
8BrickMario Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) Another question: I just recently saw 2011's Battle for Geonosis at TRU. If it's there next time, should I get it? It has Luminara, and I don't care that she's Clone Wars. (Or that the CW Luminara's got a horribly inaccurate British accent; it makes her sound too young and not as wonderfully foreign the film Luminara sounds! CW Barriss sounds more exotic to me! OK, I lied, maybe I do care about that second part...) Anyways, the set. The reviews haven't been too influential, so I want your opinions. Edited May 16, 2013 by 8BrickMario Quote
Dragonfire Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I'd say get it. I wish my TRU had the Battle of Geonosis. It has more droids for an army, a Captain Rex if you don't already have him, and a new Jedi. Besides, the Proton Cannon is pretty cool. Quote

Maybe I should mod them? I bought both the '08 RGS and the '08 AT-TE. The '13 versions look much better from what I've seen, but I don't plan to buy either. I mostly bought the '08 ones because I thought CW would turn into something good at the time and because I regretted not getting the '02 versions and thought the '08 ones would be satisfying. (They weren't. I modded both, realized how hopelessly blocky the RGS was and how annoyingly gappy the AT-TE was, and parted both out.) This was right around the time I started serious MOCing. Quote

Tnx for answers everyone. I think '08 versions looked very good at that time(RGS at least) but now they don't look that great. I think I won't be getting the new ones . That money can be spent better(on LEGO of course). Brickdoctor, do you have pics of those MOCs anywhere online? Quote
8BrickMario Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) Yet another question: Based on http://images1.wikia...issSBD.jpg, what existing hairpiece do you think would work best for Barriss? I've looked, but not found anything. She has straight, long, hair, and I don't know of a piece like this. It's either wavy or braided. Any ideas? Edited May 16, 2013 by 8BrickMario Quote

Plus I don't mind the differences between the versions. I have the 2008 AT-TE and plan on getting the 2013 version since I only have 2 and want to increase my Republic vehicles. Quote

8BrickMario Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Yeah, Stephanie's hair would work great! I think the CW hair would have to be more stylized. It's basically round on top, and fringed on the bottom. New piece required for that! Quote
