Thank you, I did not knew that!

I actually intended this for the holoprojector in Palpatine's office, so this one is kind of out... but hopefully Lego will release some translucent minifigs, or better: a translucent microfigure (love those).

It could be because 10030 is based on the Star Destroyer seen in ANH, not ESB/ROTJ. 10030 is the Devastator, Darth Vader's ship that chased down the Tantive IV. It's different than the ISDs seen in the later movies. The dead give-away is the communications antenna between the shield radomes; the Devastator's is vertical and the later ships have it horizontal.

My guess (and I'd have to watch the ANH scenes where you can see the Devastator) is that this is why you see 2 steps on the side of 10030 and 3 steps on ESB/ROTJ ships.

Thanks for the help, but that star destroyer (the devastator) was only seen on screen for like 20 seconds at the very beginning of ANH, if I remember correctly, and that's the only time you see it, and throughout the period of time the devastator is on screen the camera is shooting from underneath the ship, making it impossible for you to tell how many steps there are. How would LEGO know how many steps it has, or even any of the finer details on the ship with only such a limited amount of screentime from such an inconvenient angle? Did LEGO obtain a model on which they based 10030? Or was the ship on screen at other times throughout ANH?

Thanks.

Yeah, I can only find good images of the Devastator from an angle that mostly shows the bottom hull. After looking at my 10030 I see what you're saying, that second level should stick out more, like a wedding cake tier. Without good images of the Devastator I can't say if that's an error in design or was supposed to be like that.

The ship is on screen one more time as it approaches the Death Star to deliver Vader and Leia, but it's hard to tell from this rear angle.

Hello! Where can i get new 2014 Star Wars instructions?

They should be available on the Lego website in the next couple of weeks, just keep checking here (link)

Okay thanks everyone for your responses to my question. I thought I had already searched google for pictures of the devastator a long time ago and all I remember coming up with were what I thought were pictures of the avenger, but after reading brickdoctor's post and just simply once again searching "star destroyer devastator", I was able to find this model replica which I hadn't seen before (http://www.modelerma...SET1_000ABC.jpg), which answers my question. Really appreciate the help. :)

There are and have been plenty of images of the studio model, (these, for example, although they're more recent than the set) so I'm sure TLG had access to some of those as well as any additional angles that I'm pretty sure Lucas Licensing provides.

Interesting. I question that this is actually the Devastator studio model because of the antenna array at the top of the bridge tower. It's flat, and the ship in ANH had the array vertical, like in Obi-wan37's post.

I did notice that. However, the model in those pictures has the six turbolaser turrets and two more rounded ion cannon turrets lining the superstructure, as opposed to the Imperial-II's eight identical turbolaser turrets. I can't find any solid information on which of those features is a constant, but Wookieepedia says that some of the communications arrays/tractor beam projectors on the Imperial-Is were retrofitted with the Imperial II hardware, so my thought is that that might be a model of the Devastator from Empire? That's the only thing I can think of. You're right; the model in Star Wars as seen in the opening chase clearly has the vertical tractor beam projector between the bridge shield generators.

Which set should I get? TIE Fighter (with fours figs I want and an Awesome model), or X-wing (with two figs I want and an awesome model)?

The tie fighter it even goes with the new death star troopers battle pack

That makes sense, that model is probably from ESB. The other thing I remember reading from my ISD research is that the Destroyers from ANH were almost bone-white and the ones in subsequent films were grey, just like the model in your link.

So a general question here. When the heck are the new Star Wars sets going to be available at shop.lego.come (or widely distributed enough that they aren't $100 on amazon) in America?

What an amazing question! I would compound it with the fact that the lastest Lego magazine has come out in the US and lacks any of the new Star Wars sets. Does this mean we won't see them for a good amount of time? Heck, with the cancellation of Series 4 Planets to the US might we never see them!?

Oh the humanity!!!

This should be discussed in the topic on availability, and you'd probably get more responses focused on availability in that topic. I'll move it there.

This might be a stupid question but is it possible that TLC gave up using the 10XXX numbers for the large sets? The new Sandcrawler, the Simpsons House and Metalbeard'a Sea Cow are sets that should have them but they don't.

Well there might be the possibility that lego now uses 10XXX for UCS sets because if you look at the Simpsons' house it appears to be more of a playset rather than a detailed set one would put on display. But that would mean that the Sandcrawler would also be a playset rather than a UCS set, which would seem unlikely.

Another possible reason could be that since now they have a lot more themes and sets then they had before. and now they are no longer able to do the 10XXX set number because there are too many UCS sets for it.
