Tariq j Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Why would lego put up the new sets but they're apparently not to release until March????? I could be wrong here but as far as I know new sets are released at different times in different countries. I'm not entirely sure why this is though. Quote
hjmediastudios Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I think it's due to the need to guarantee supply- the US is probably TLG's biggest market, and so by staggering the rollout of new sets, they're able to ensure that the initial demand in other markets has subsided to the point where chronic out-of-stock issues can be avoided Quote
DonBrizzel Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Does TLG update their orders as shipped? Or are they bad at doing that? I have 3 orders in with Pick a Brick for about a week and a half now and they are all still in process. Quote
Flieger Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I could be wrong here but as far as I know new sets are released at different times in different countries. Exactly, in my country you could buy them in Lego stores by Christmas already (= big sales as you can imagine), and they are available in the online store now. I think they will hit the other retailers soon. Quote
Commander Colt Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 From what I've heard, not sure if its true though, is that the delayed rollout is to provide more coverage and buying time for the lego movie sets, which are coming out now, instead of the winter star wars wave. Quote
legos486 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 But isn't star wars the most popular lego theme Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 But isn't star wars the most popular lego theme It's not the most popular, and it's also not the one that needs the most marketing attention right now. Even if it was the most popular theme (I'm all but certain that City/Town is consistently the most popular.), people are going to buy Star Wars sets anyways. The LEGO Movie is the new big theme that needs to be marketed. Quote
BJM Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I have read that yes City is by far the best seller, but is it fair to say that Star Wars is the best selling licence theme (not of all time, but by wave), or is beaten say by Harry Potter or Lord Rings having a good wave? Quote
legos486 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I thought this because of mocing and army building which is basically where most of its sales come from Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I thought this because of mocing and army building which is basically where most of its sales come from While I have no exact figures, I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of sales is simply from kids who buy sets or parents who buy sets for kids. AFOLs and their reasons for purchases only make up a small portion of the market. I have read that yes City is by far the best seller, but is it fair to say that Star Wars is the best selling licence theme (not of all time, but by wave), or is beaten say by Harry Potter or Lord Rings having a good wave? There might be someone on EB who knows, but I have no idea. Quote
donbarca Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 in denmark Lego Friends was by far the most popular this christmas beating duplo and city.... also in sales numbers since there is not as many different sets available of lego friends as duplo, city, star wars that is kind of impressing..... nation wide in both toys r us and the department store/super market i work in could never get enough sets of lego friends. they were flying off the shelves! so that is popular right now but over all the city and duplo + the old theme star wars have so big fanbases that they will always sell... but i think it will always be star wars that will have to give up space and attention for the theme of the moment. especially the lego movie since it is not a franchised theme but original lego Quote
legos486 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 So eplll and ep iv is the focus this year so ep v and vi next year? Quote
Phoib Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I wouldn't bet on that. Summer 2014 gets the ATAT and Snowspeeder, both of which are ESB sets. For Return of the Jedi, what is left to release? The Jabba part got some excellent sets recently, we have an A-wing and will get a B-wing. We also have the Ewok Village. What is honestly left? More ewoks? Maybe a TIE interceptor or a Lambda class shuttle, but that is it for Return of the Jedi. Quote
legos486 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Well as long the yoda chronicles don't take slots which could've been good sets I'm ok Quote
Archer Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Random question, but are there ever clone pilots in RoTS that look like the ones in palpatine's shuttle and the new V-Wing. The ones from the newer Arc 170 with orange visor seem to be the only ones I see in the movie. Quote
Mr Man Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Random question, but are there ever clone pilots in RoTS that look like the ones in palpatine's shuttle and the new V-Wing. The ones from the newer Arc 170 with orange visor seem to be the only ones I see in the movie. They where in the original Clone Wars TV series. But not onscreen in ROTS. Quote
Archer Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Which leads me to wonder, why lego? Why continue to use an obscure inaccurate fig after having made an accurate one? Quote
ChiefPie Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Lego still could make more lego sets from every episode that hasn't been made and from TCW I just hope some more ep3 pr more clones come out in summer Quote
