Front Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Make sure to tell LEGO that you are not happy about the printing (offset). Quote
FettJango Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Why can't Lego make UCS as a regular Star Wars subtheme and release one or two for each wave. I know it takes a while to create a UCS, but they can hire more people. Or even better, design a subtheme for AFOL's that have sets with oustanding and correct detail and not just the kiddie version. Very Short Answer: Economics Slightly longer answer: UCS sets simply don't sell well enough to warrant putting out more than one or two every couple of years. Right now LEGO is averaging 1.25 UCS sets per year (15 sets over 12 years). Some accountant has probably determined that that is the ideal release rate for UCS sets. You have to remember that AFOLs are a small niche in LEGO's overall market. We make up, what, under 10% of all those buying LEGO products? (someone verify that before I look like a complete idiot). Although AFOLs are probably a little free-er with their spending on LEGO. Quote
Masked Builder Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Yeah you should be able to get one. Quote
The_Customizer Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Sell it on BL. Or you can give it to me. But yeah, they should replace it with absolutely no problems at all! Quote
Ceroknight Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Way back I asked if lego magnets were legitimate minifigures and you guys answered they weren't... however lego says they are legitimate what do i do? Quote
sok117 Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 I've got a question, were there two different types of PT Mace Windu's released? a LuL and a non-LuL, I thought there was only the LuL one, but I keep seeing others that look like lego quality, would someone mind explaining? Quote

Lego made another one in the first CTT after they stopped making the LuL Windu's or they broke too many times from excecive lighting up, I guess. I'm not 100% sure, but pretty sure. Quote

Yes there were two different versions of mace, also two versions of the Original CTT. They both have the same number though and I think the one with non LuL Mace has an extra Clone Trooper. I noticed that once reading my lego magazines and seeing two different CTT's with different piece counts. Quote

That depends what you mean by "legitimate minifigures". And are you talking about the old magnet figs with magnets in them or the newer that come with a magnet base? The magnet figs they sell now are of a slightly inferior quality if you look at transparency and colour issues, but printing is as good as on the official figs in sets, or even better! There is a small indentation on the inside of each arm (barely noticeable) that reveal that they are produced in China. Bricklink (which isn't a part of TLG) doesn't separate the two in their catalouge. The older magnet figs are not strictly LEGO minifigs, since you can't remove the torso from the legs and, well, there are magnets in them. Quote

sok117 Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Thanks for the replies, I wonder why they did another version of the CTT but not the wookie catamaran and other sets with LuL figs, does anyone know the reason behind this? Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted September 30, 2010 Author Posted September 30, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the replies, I wonder why they did another version of the CTT but not the wookie catamaran and other sets with LuL figs, does anyone know the reason behind this? The new CTT is obviously based on the CW series and not on RoTS where the Wookiee Catamaran is based. Probably the brief appearance of the CTT in the Season 2 premiere (for about uhm.. 15 seconds) justified a remake and updated version, and it was also the perfect way to introduce two new exclusive CW figs in Aayla and Bane. I think he means the re-do of the same CTT without the LuL; as the catmaran never got us a non-LuL Luminara. My guess is that the CTT was a larger success than the catmaran, perhaps? Quote

My guess is that the CTT was a larger success than the catmaran, perhaps? I would say yes the CTT is more appealing than the Catamaran. But I think it still boiled down to the brief appearance of the CTT on the CW series. Let's face it, the CW series is the "in-thing" nowadays and vehicles appearing in the said series will have higher chances of being made in lego. Quote
Diaaabo Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 We're having a comunication problem we've been talking about the re-edition of the 2005 CTT, the first one with the LuL, and then the same version without the LuL; not this new one! Quote

Oh my bad, sorry I didn't get that one right away. In the first place, I never knew that there was a 2005 CTT without a LUL Windu. I've always thought that CTT version had the LUL. So I guess the most probable reason why they re-did the 2005 CTT is because the LUL Windu is 'crappy' and the regular minifig is much preferred by fans(?!) Walter Kovacs Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 I would guess that the CTT sold much better than the Wookie Catamaran is the reason. There was probably pressure to re-release both, but the sales numbers only showed the CTT as a profitable re-release. Didn't the Catamaran have stability issues? The only other LUL sets were the TIE Fighter with a LUL Darth Vader (no need to release this again, as Vaders are relatively common minifigs) and the horrid Ultimate Lightsaber Duel. Anyone want a re-release of that set? No? Moving on then. Quote
