LegoKol Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Please forgive if this is posted on the wrong thread.... What are the chances that Lego will finally release a Han Solo fig with bloodstripes on his legs and the correct hair? The toy soldier that came with the minifig book last year has the right kind of printing on the sides of the legs. Luke's hair has changed several times over the years but Han's is still wrong. Quote
LegoKol Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Does anyone have any ideas as to what colour a generic imperial base should be? I was thinking grey or white with black here and there for inside, but I can't find Design ID 4460 in Medium Grey for the exterior design I have in mind, so I'm unsure as to what colour the exterior should be instead. Most Imperial structures and vehicles were done in grey, with some exceptions. To the best of my knowledge (and please correct me if I'm wrong) diplomatic craft like the Lamda shuttles and some landing craft were white. The newer bley (or bluish grey) bricks seem to work quite nicely. The old grey bricks had too much of a brown cast to them and worked better when I was trying to build something old and weathered. Rebel bases and vehicles, owing to the fact that many times they were older and pre-used, wouldn't necessarily have a uniformity to them, and could be built in a variety of colours while having an "authentic" look to them.In some cases, a patchwork appearance for a Rebel base would look really good, but wouldn't suit an Imperial setting, and too new/clean/uniform wouldn't always suit an Alliance construction. LegoKol Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Luke's hair is still wrong anyway... True, but at least they've tried more than one mold with Luke. Han's never had the clean cut side part. Quote

Thanks for your reply; I had finally settled with a bley colour for the base before I realised some of the bricks I need aren't available in that colour, so I'm going with white since I'll likely switch between an Imperial and Republic base (purely for the fact that I have minifigs for both). As well as that, I feel that having lots of white bricks is more useful for things like an outpost on a snowy planet (three guesses which one) since for some reason I have more Snowtroopers and Hoth Rebels than Stormtroopers and all the other Rebels! But thank you for your help anyway! Edit: Just adding another question here; what rooms are most important in a base? I have command centre, engineering, armoury and crew quarters down but nothing else so far. Any others? 2nd Edit: Sorry to be such a pain in the brick, but any building hints for the corridors and doorways? Doors are 8 studs wide and corridors 6 wide ATM. Thanks again. BJM Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Can anyone with the brand new v wing tell me if the astromech is new - either the dome or body or both. There certainly have been a few red astromechs now, and from all the reviews I've seen, no one has specifically said. Thanks. Quote

There certainly have been a few red astromechs now, and from all the reviews I've seen, no one has specifically said. Thanks. Yes, it is definitely new. The normal red color has never appeared before. You could see it on the box - it says "new". There is a very similar one in the planet set of kamino & jedi starfighter, so if you are looking just for a new astromech, that one is a good option. The only difference as far as I can tell is that that one is dark red in stead of normal read. Edit: thinking about it again, I believe the body has appeared twice before, in the second Y-wing and the first ARC-170 fighter, though both with a different dome. Edit 2 (sorry), those are just slightly different. Edited February 19, 2014 by TWP Quote
BJM Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Thanks TWP. I do have the Kamino Astromech - but I am trying to get hold of every variant. I love 'em. Others have said before, but I am looking forward to pairing the Advent Christmas tree droid in green with the dome on the Falcon Mini set. And also will need to get the new Jek ship as that has a blue droid. I need to do some more jobs round the house to get some more pocket money from my wife! Quote
TWP Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 And also will need to get the new Jek ship as that has a blue droid. That's a pity for you... then you are left with minifigs and the rest of the set, while you only need the droid. So if you send the rest of the set and figs to me, apart of the droid, we will both be happy as you will not have leftovers anymore! I need to do some more jobs round the house to get some more pocket money from my wife! Quote
Artanis I Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Sorry I can't post a proper deeplink at the moment, but here is a photo of all my astromechs. The new one is at the front. You can clearly see the difference between the two. Quote
Mahtion Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Hi everyone! I have loved Star Wars since mid 90s as a kid but fell into my Lego dark age around AOTC. I came back to Lego in 2011 with LOTR. Last week I bought my first Star Wars set, the new A-wing. It was amazing and made me excited about the theme. I want to get a few more sets but wanted some suggestions. I like OT/PT about equal, maybe leaning OT. I have heard great things about the Xwing Starfighter and the most recent TIE. I want a v wing but should I get the current one or wait for the new one this year? Are there any sets I should jump on while they are available or should I wait for May the 4th sales? I also would like a ARC 170 fighter but I guess they are not available. I really like the vehicle component of the Star Wars line and look for well built sets like the A wing. Also a lot of the sets I want are sold out so if I don't wait I will lose out on the VIP points which are nice to have towards bigger sets in the future. Thanks for your responses! I just spent two days reading this entire thread to get a better more informed perspective on Star Wars Lego. Quote

I just spent two days reading this entire thread to get a better more informed perspective on Star Wars Lego. As a general rule, I'd recommend to watch each model closely. Ask yourself if you really, really like it and if you are prepared to pay the price demanded. - As for the TIE Fighter, I'd go for the current model. I looks great, and it is available often for pretty huge discounts. - As for the X-Wing, I'd wait. Yes, the current X-Wing looks better than it's precedors, but no, the current canopy piece still doesn't look satisfying. - As for the V-Wing, I'd wait for the new one. Look for discounted models. If you are living in the U.S., you are off pretty well, since it occurs to me to be the land of discounts. As a second general rule, I'd recommend to set priorities. Do you want sets simply because you like to own them? In this case you can buy whatever you want. Do you want sets from certain scenes, and do you have limited resources? In this case you have to set clear priorities. And, as a third general rule, do not spent time or money on sets that were discontinued. In my experience, most of the times, it simply doesn't pay off. And now my questions: 1. I got the opportunity to buy the current AT-AP from set 75043 (vehicle, box, instructions, no minifigs) for EUR 35,00, which means roughly EUR 0,05 per piece. Do you think the price is ok? 2. The piece count of the AT-TE from 75019 is just slightly higher (~717 v. 780), but the price is roughly 50 % higher. Can anyone tell me why this is the case? Thanks! Archer Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Trying to make a close as possible movie accurate Commander Cody so he's melmetless until they make an accurate phase II helmet for him. While it seems that the buzz cut hair piece would be the logical choice for hair it looks weird. Any body else have a more accurate suggestion? Quote
DarthTwoShedsJackson Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I just pulled a non-printed flesh-coloured minifig head out of my Sith Trooper Battle Pack. How rare is that, and is it worth anything (for custom print minifig designers, for example)? Quote
arc Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I just pulled a non-printed flesh-coloured minifig head out of my Sith Trooper Battle Pack. How rare is that, and is it worth anything (for custom print minifig designers, for example)? it appeared once in the 2006 star destroyer, but according to bricklink that's the only set its ever been in. It goes for under a dollar on bricklink. But I don't know if a misprint would affect the value or not. Quote

Studebricker Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 As far as the Solo side leg printing people have mentioned, I really think most of the figures are fine with just back and leg printing added. Arm printing is cool if the character's outfit warrants it, but side leg printing of a tiny stripe is a bit unnecessary. Yah, it's there in the film if you look hard enough, but not a big deal to me.
