Yeah Darth Mallet is right, the price of the Imperial Shuttle is out of your range. It's a good set, but it's gotten pretty expensive none the less. Anyways the SSD is good for display purposes only, and only if you have lots of space. However IMO it's not that good of a set, it has lots of gray pieces and doesn't really have much to it. The Death Star is good for the exact opposite reason: It doesn't have much display value but has ton of features and cool functions. If you're interested in those kind of things then I'd recommend the Death Star over the SSD.

The Sandcrawler in my opinion has a little bit of both to offer. It looks pretty cool on display and seems to have a good amount of play value as well, and not to mention it fits perfectly in your price range. Personally I'd definitely choose this one over the SSD, but maybe not the Death Star.

There is one set that I'd recommend: The Ewok Village. It's a bit pricey for the piece count but everything about it is so interesting and it's very iconic. The minifigs and the village are very detailed and the play features are a bit interesting. I hope I helped, if you want more help then feel free to ask. Welcome to Eurobricks!

I have to disagree, the Death Star's features makes it great to display. Since the set has so many details and iconic scenes it makes a great central display piece.

I didn't mean to say that it was bad for display, but just that the SSD is the better choice for display purposes. But I guess the way I typed it makes it sound like I believe it's bad for that reason.

I would definitely recommend an Ewok village, Death Star, Sand crawler (dont have the sand crawler) Or the 10212 Shuttle if you can find one within the price range, or perhaps a second hand one, id be happy with that, it is a bloody good set. All are great sets/display pieces in their own right, as well as having great play value (well, the shuttle is at least swooshable, the SSD isnt practical to swoosh...). It depends what you really want it for, and what you like the look of most. Death Star may go out of production soon, who knows. Its been around long enough, who knows when it will get taken out of production

I need two questions answered.

Republic Frigate or Jedi Defender Class Cruiser?

Emperor Palpatine Shuttle or Republic Attack Shuttle?

Are figs worth getting or should I just buy the set without them and bricklink the figs I may want later.

Thanks! I really want to expand my starfighter collection with some larger ships.

Personally I would go with the Republic Frigate over the Jedi Defender Class Cruiser, mainly because you get a lot more out of the Frigate with all the little functions it has. The Cruiser isn't necessarily bad for those purposes, but a lot of the ship's functions are just storage compartments, which make the set a little boring IMO, especially if you haven't played the Old Republic game. The one thing better about the cruiser over the frigate is the figures included with the set, but if you want those that badly you can simply bricklink them. Since both of these sets have valuable figures, it would be a better idea IMO to buy them with the set.

For the second answer, I'd go with the Republic Attack Shuttle. When the Emperor's Shuttle first came out I thought it was going to be much better than the Attack Shuttle, but when I built it I was kind of disappointed. They sacrificed a lot in the interior for the Darth Vader transformation function, which doesn't even work most of the time. It's based off a three-second appearance from episode III, so you can't really do much with it either. I don't really think the Attack Shuttle is that much better to be honest, mainly because of the childish color-scheme, but if you want one of these two then I'd go with the Attack Shuttle. Neither of these sets really have any amazing figures, so when you buy one of these two it won't be a bad idea to purchase the set without the figs and buy them separately online.

I hope I helped, and if you have anything else you want to add feel free to do so.

Im quite lucky to have all 4, With regards to the first 2, Id personally go the Jedi Defender. I feel it has better minifigs, (yes, the republic frigate has wolf pack, but if you dont find them *that* great, I think the Defender has better figs. I also feel it has a better playability. Literally every space on the ship has some sort of play feature, while it also looks a really good ship to just display as it is.

For the second 2, Id say emperor palpatines shutte, partly because the republic shuttles interior seems more cluttered and squeezed in, but I think the folding wings and the landing gear of palps shuttle are better as well, whereas the attack shuttle has these blocky looking things for landing gear which are literally just bricks. The exteriors of both however, are exceptional.

Gotcha. I agree, with the lack of playability the SSD is better to look at up on a shelf.

Just a question that has been floating my mind; how long until the 2012 sets retire? I hope not too soon, as I still need to pick up the Droid Escape, and a few more Endor battlepacks!

Both sets are officially retired in the UK, and I haven't them in any main retailers for a while, so I'd grab them as soon as possible if you can find them :classic:

Hi Eurobrickers,

I just found the Jedi Defender-class light corvette (75025) for 85€, but I'm not sure if It is a good set, I have the Sith Fury Class Interceptor and all the other TOR stuff so I do want this ship, but something is keeping me from buying it... :p

Anybody that owns this set got any + and - why is should or shouldn't buy it?

Thank you for your thoughts.

I have it and love it - simply for the looks. The build was great too. The figs are awesome, and it is definitely one of the sets I display - over and above normal film sets. Just look at it again - that is a great looking ship, and it happens to be Star Wars, win win!

Is there a list of all the special exclusive minifigs(the ones that cannot be found in regular sets, like polybag minifigs, minifigs from the LSW books, games and so on) in one place somewhere? I have not really been into LEGO for the past year - year and a half and I have missed some things in the LSW universe.

p.s. Can someone give me a heads up about Darth Vader with medal minifig. I cannot seem to find it for sale on BL.

Hopefully a new Character encyclopedia will be released. I think the current one only goes up as far as 2010
