mechamike Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I not sure if this has been covered already but my search didn't find anything.. (so sorry in advance mods if i done a mistake) The landspeeder trooper 8092-1, the Droid escape trooper 9490-1 and the Cantina trooper 75052-1 I took a comparison picture of some Sandtroopers, Is it a screw up that the cantina trooper leg-printing has grown bigger and therefore looks "cut off"? Or is it a new design to make it look.... different.? I noticed that some other figs also has leg prints that feels cut of , Ezra in the Phantom set has a half circle on his leg. I understand that Lego cant print on the lower part of the leg for some reason, but I wish that they had stayed with the old print on the sandtrooper legs. And perhaps skip details that will look cut in half on other figs.Whats Your opinion? Quote
Chills Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Thanks for posting the comparison pic. The Droid Escape trooper was my favorite until I see it next to the Cantina version.... the latter has a much better printed helmet. As for the leg printing, it looks like LEGO can only print so far down on the leg. The Droid Escape trooper's printing is more to scale with the minifigure; which makes me wonder why LEGO changed the size of the printed detail. Making it larger definitely reduces the quality of the look. Quote
Robert_88 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 You're right, it looks a bit strange. I still prefere the 9490 version. Quote
Just The Doctor Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I fully agree, they did it with the recent Clone Troopers, too. I've also noticed a lack of foot printing, too Quote
wesker Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 One thing I don't understand is why Lego is still using the black hips on the Stormtroopers when they could just print the black undersuit on the legs. Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I fully agree, they did it with the recent Clone Troopers, too. I've also noticed a lack of foot printing, too Lego went all out with this guy. http://brickset.com/minifigs/sw377/ARC-Trooper-with-Backpack-Elite-Clone-Trooper-(9488) Quote

GuyDudeMan27 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 As much as I like the ARC Trooper, I really wish there were variations rather than just red. Same. I have a custom fives because of just how awesome he is. Quote
Just The Doctor Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) As much as I like the ARC Trooper, I really wish there were variations rather than just red. I agree, they only made Hammer, and so they missed the opportunity to make money by making the rest of rancor batallion's arc troopers - they could have done a kamino battle set. Hammer is all lonely in many collections (I got a custom 3rd party arc to 'keep him company' in mine) Edited June 8, 2014 by Just The Doctor Quote
Cyberbricker Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Yeah, I think lego hasn't figured out that ARC troopers are not generic clone troopers, but very specific to each unit! On the box you can see like 4 ARC hammers fighting the Commando Droids... Quote
GeneralLego Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Quickie here- out of the $25 winter Star Wars sets, which one should I get? Quote
EVO97 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Quickie here- out of the $25 winter Star Wars sets, which one should I get? If you don't have that green Jedi Interceptor, I would recommend the new yellow version Quote
GeneralLego Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 If you don't have that green Jedi Interceptor, I would recommend the new yellow version Sadly the LEGO store here doesn't have the Grievous Bike, so I'm torn between the Interceptor, Vulture Droid, and V-Wing. Quote
miles teg Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Hi, havnt posted here for a while! I need some input...I only 'collect' OT Lego, I say collect but I have very little spare money to spend on it, what with having 2 young children and a marriage to finance! My collection after 2 years, currently stands at: 9496 desert skiff 9493 x wing 9492 tie 75003 a wing 75014 battle of hoth 8092 Luke's speeder 2x hoth imperial battle pack 1x hoth rebel battle pack 1x endor battle pack + imperial royal guard, imperial officer, storm troopers and 4x rebel both troopers. Which I swapped with my young son...he collects clone wars sets and I had bought the New General grievous wheel bike because I thought it looked nice, but I wasn't happy with it so we swapped! Anyway..I have recently received some money for a gift, and for the first time I have enough to purchase a large (ish) set. Now, do I order a Falcon, which I have wanted for 2 years. Or do I buy the New AT AT set, which I love the look of ??? I understand the Falcon is soon to be discontinued, so this may be my only chance to buy it. But at the same time, I LOOOVE the look of 750054 ! It may be a very very long time until I have the money to buy another set at this price point, so I need to choose awfully careful !!! Help! Any pros/cons that I'm missing? I guess the AT AT would go better with my other Hoth sets, but the figures are a little uninspiring....whereas the Falcon has Luke, Leia, Vader, Ben. And the Falcon has been my goal since I started. I suppose I could just buy 75050 and maybe the y wing? ...two OT fighters I need Quote
rollermonkey Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Falcon. I like the AT-AT as a vehicle a lot more than the Falcon, but if the Falcon goes away in the next few months, you could have a several year wait before another is released. The AT-AT will be here for another two years. Quote
TWP Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Well, the Falcon is an iconic set that I think you as OT collecter will love. Plus, it has han, chewie and vader, important minifigs that you all seem to miss. It's a good build too. The con is, that another falcon might appear within 2-4 years, so you might regret you did not wait for the new one. I think that is not a big problem for you though, as you are not someone who buys a lot of sets. The At-at is also a good choice, considering you've already got much of the hoth battle to fight against, so it fits good. Keep in mind the snowtroopers look different, that might be confusing. The same thing with a new falcon version could happen to the at-at, but then some years later. I hope this helps! :) Quote
miles teg Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Yes, I think I'm swaying more toward the Falcon? I love it but it's more of a playset than a display piece. And that 75054 would look nice on my shelf! Aargh. I guess I should add that I'm in the UK and both sets are @£110. If the New Cantina was £15 cheaper, I'd be tempted to pick up that and the New B Wing, the figures in those are very nice Quote

Or do I buy the AT AT while I have the money now, and wait for a future Falcon...if they release one and if I can actually afford one in the future!? Damn, this being an adult and having bills to pay is a pain! Now I'm swaying more to 75054...the difference in Snowtroopers won't bother me, the troopers from 75014 were updated from the battle pack troopers iirc? But I do think Lego could've put a couple of rebels in the set too, or an extra unique character. Don't get me wrong, Veers is nice, but he's very similar to every other imperial officer. The figs in 75054 just don't grab me like say, the ones from the New B Wing, or the cantina set, or the Falcon. Maybe it's just that I've overdosed on Hoth Imperials : ) but the build of 75054 looks so good, and plenty modable too. Maybe I should let my son decide...he's going to be building it anyway ! Quote
TWP Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 You vould also go to the store, rest both sets in your hands and pick which feels best. Maybe I should let my son decide...he's going to be building it anyway ! That sounds like a good idea too. Quote
Retro Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Re: Falcon vs AT-AT The pros of the falcon are that it has a classic set of figures, including Darth, who everyone needs! It is also fun to build. And if you do any sort of dioramas, rather than just collecting sets, the Falcon always fits in. The only con to the Falcon is that my young son doesn't find it that much fun to play with because the interior is not very accessible. He prefers Jabba's palace, which is a fantastic set both for play and display, or my home-made cloud city. But he loves the Falcons's minifigures... Quote

If I did that I'd probably end up with both sets, an empty wallet and a very very very angry wife : ) Re: Falcon vs AT-AT The pros of the falcon are that it has a classic set of figures, including Darth, who everyone needs! It is also fun to build. And if you do any sort of dioramas, rather than just collecting sets, the Falcon always fits in. The figures in the Falcon are definitely more appealing. I would like to make some dioramas at some point, but I only have 1 shelf available for display at the moment....I have to rotate which sets I have out. Disassembling the rest until it's their 'turn' again. The AT AT would fit nicely on my shelf....... If you wait a bit you will be able to get them for less. The cantina will almost certainly be found for £15 less in a while and the AT-AT and B-wing will be cheaper too. Quote
turbo1013 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 i did a version of this but my scale was more towards fitting 8 guys and scales in the pics that i just found are way way bigger look at guys on the bottom, its bigger than the falcon and the jawa tank any pics of your lego version would be appriceated The Sleight of Hand Quote
