GeneralLego Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Hi, I just joined last week. I have a wee MOC I'd like to share. Do I just start a new topic and scribble and link away? I believe that's how it's done. Quote
bjorn77 Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 In response to Bjorn77 -- I don't have the Death Star. It does look like a much needed purchase for any SW fan. My problem is the minifigures. You are paying a boatload for them in the official release and I don't want any of them. I prefer the updated versions in sets now. Next someone will say, well just sell off the minifigures, and while that may work, everytime I've looked them up on bricklink, it isn't that much difference. Under $100, so the set itself is still expensive. I realize there are a lot of pieces involved too, but I would love to have a Death Star version that is more affordable for play. It is indeed an expensive set, I agree with that but I still think it's worth the money. I'm sure you can find a set without the minifigs on bricklink. Personally, I actually prefer the old minifig versions. They feel more legoey to me. I do mix them with figs from newer sets though, to extend the crew. Quote
miles teg Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Does anybody have any simple but effective mods for 9596 Falcon, or 8097 slave 1, to improve them aesthetically ? Not that they don't look good as they are, but maybe to 'greeble-ise' them a bit more ? Quote

Is there any way to mod the Falcons cockpit for two minifigs? http://www.brickshel...niumfalcon1.png http://www.brickshel...niumfalcon2.png http://www.brickshel...niumfalcon3.png This is the best I could get it, although I thought the cockpit was originally intended for two. Gremer Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I may have asked this already, but do we have any confirmation/rumors on when (or if) TC-4 will appear in the US? Quote
Darth Reaper Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I Have Been Searching The Net For A Long Time And Im Wondering If Anyone Can Help Me Find The Set 7672 Rogue Shadow Mini Figures And Where Is Best In The Future To Get Them Or Who On Here Can Help It Will Be Much Apritiated Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Well, brick link is your best bet as far as websites go. You can find the individual minifigs and buy them from sellers that the site provides. You can also buy individual parts, and whole sets. You may be able to get all three figs from one seller. Happy hunting! Quote
Chills Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Like GuyDude said, Bricklink is a solid place to look. I bought Rouge Shadow not too long ago; got it from eBay. It took me a while but I watched the auctions closely and nabbed one from a collector for lower than what was on BL. Quote
Mahtion Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 (edited) All of the TIE fighters are expensive and retired. I missed out on 9492 when it was $49.99 and now it's around $70-$80 on eBay or bricklink. I also want the Sith Fury and Vaders TIE Advance which are little better priced. Has anyone tried bricklinking 9492 because of the outrageous price? Would it be any cheaper building it by getting the pieces from bricklink? Or is there a high chance of new TIE fighters coming in a new wave? That may be quite some time. Thanks! Robianco Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Not that you need another vote for BrickLink but it's definitely the place to go. Juno Eclipse isn't that expensive to be honest and I just bought her torso to make a custom Mara Jade. Vader's Apprentice on the other hand is getting a little pricey. I think I once tracked down the torso and head relatively cheaply (compared to the full figure). Quote

I don't know about bricklink but depending on where you live you should go check in bookstore. They , most of the time have a lego section where you can find sets from 2-3 years back (because who goes to a book store to buy lego lol) Also even if the set is not listed on the website there is a chance they still have some in stock (I got myself the 9492 last week at Toys R in Canada even if it is not listed anymore on their website) Quote
Lobot Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Hi Darth Reaper and welcome to Eurobricks! For future refence, we have a thread for general questions which is pinned at the top of the SW forum. I'll merge this thread with it in a bit Quote

I found Droid Escape for cheap at a small Toysrus express in the mall along with some other older sets. Sadly no TIE fighter though. New question though if I buy keychain figs that have had the keychain already removed, how limited are the leg joints? I read that the legs are stuck to the torso, would I still be able to position the legs? Quote

They are also stuck to the body, but it shouldn't matter too much. Quote
Brickviller Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Does anyone knows why the Homing Spider droid was never featured in the Clone Wars tv series? It kinda puzzles me for a while.. Quote
clover Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 (edited) First of all, I would like to tell my story about this set : When I found the first pictures, I really did not like the design, a little too "old". Then I learned that it can combine with the Phantom Then I learned that it will be the spaceship for the next TV shox Then I tryed to find some picture of the TV show. I found the TV show quite cute. So I was asking for myself : why do I dislike the Lego edition ? I found 2 reasons : 1- it needs more Tiles because the TV one seems more "smooth" ( I am thinking about the wings) 2- it might need to be larger. So now, I am a little obsessed by the two sets but I would like to know if I am really alone in this way of thinking. Thanks again Edited June 22, 2014 by clover Quote
Corydoras Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Hello, After rewatching the original trilogy I, a PT collector, developed a craving for an iconic OT vehicle set. What grabbed my attention was the latest incarnation of X-wing starfighter (9493). I thought it looks fantastic and really accurate. However, after watching a few video reviews I noticed a technical problem with the wing mechanism that made me wonder if the set is really that awesome... Check out this video to see what I'm talking about (skip to 5:18 and then 6:13): It looks terrible... If you have this set, I have a few questions: 1. Do you experience the same problem (bricks separating)? 2. Is it the bricks' quality or a bad design that can be fixed somehow? 3. Would it still happen if I'm careful enough when opening the wings? 4. Does removing one pair of rubber bands help? 5. Does it still occur when rubber bands become more "used"? All in all, should I get the set or just order some pieces and make my own version without the rubber band mechanism? Quote
VK-318 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 You are absolutely right on both counts. The studdy look works well for the Millennium Falcon, fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy, but the Ghost needs to be smoother. And the model is indeed way too small. I would really like to see somebody put together a UCS-style Ghost and Phantom; these are great-looking ships that deserve some effort. Quote

Corydoras Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 (edited) Does anyone knows why the Homing Spider droid was never featured in the Clone Wars tv series? It kinda puzzles me for a while.. 1. The animators were lazy? 2. They thought the octuptarra magna tri-droids were cooler and have more articulation while being basically the same as the homing spider droids? 3. When TCW cartoon first launched I assumed it was supposed to be expanding the older CW series directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, showing the later stages of the war (Anakin is already a knight, CIS vehicles are painted blue, more advanced octuptarras replace homing spider droids that featured in AOTC and the CW series). But then I learned TCW starts in 22 BBY, making CW non-canon... which doesn't make any sense for me. It ruined chronology, it ruined continuity, it ruined pretty much everything. The lack of homing spider droids is really the last thing that should bother us. Edited June 22, 2014 by Corydoras Quote

Nom Carver Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 (edited) So I was asking for myself : why do I dislike the Lego edition ? So now, I am a little obsessed by the two sets but I would like to know if I am really alone in this way of thinking. I also dislike the set, I have lately developed a great dislike for non OT stuff, especially if it has been made to favour disney's marketing, the most nasty thing about this set is the fact that you have to buy two sets to get the whole vehicle, and the stormtrooper for the show look really ugly. However, after watching a few video reviews I noticed a technical problem with the wing mechanism that made me wonder if the set is really that awesome... That issue can be easily fixed, it happens because the two rubber bands produce too much tension on the rear of the wings, I placed four of these: on the opposite holes in the front of the wings and used them to hold two of the rubber bands there. All non film SW material is no longer canon, so don't pay attention to that chronological mess, you can always do what I did, create your own story and chronology, I actually altered the events of the PT to fit my own story. Whoa, this is so simple yet so ingenious. Thank you for your reply. What do you generally think of the set? Is it worth buying while still available? Or should I buy an X-wing microfighter to get a pilot and BL the pieces to build my own version? Quote
