clover Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Whoa, this is so simple yet so ingenious. Thank you for your reply. What do you generally think of the set? Is it worth buying while still available? Or should I buy an X-wing microfighter to get a pilot and BL the pieces to build my own version? It is always easier and less expensive to make your own version from a set than from BL only There is a UCS version as well :) Also, the not to said it is UCS but in fact it is, is quite the good size for minifig... Artanis I Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 All non film SW material is no longer canon The Clone Wars is still included. Quote
miles teg Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I also dislike the set, I have lately developed a great dislike for non OT stuff, especially if it has been made to favour disney's marketing, the most nasty thing about this set is the fact that you have to buy two sets to get the whole vehicle, and the stormtrooper for the show look really ugly. That issue can be easily fixed, it happens because the two rubber bands produce too much tension on the rear of the wings, I placed four of these: on the opposite holes in the front of the wings and used them to hold two of the rubber bands there. P1010229 por Nom Carver, en Flickr All non film SW material is no longer canon, so don't pay attention to that chronological mess, you can always do what I did, create your own story and chronology, I actually altered the events of the PT to fit my own story. That's a good little mod! Hey...has the top of this set been modded slightly, or maybe the engines ?? My sets are all in their boxes at the moment so I havnt seen 9493 for a while, but it looks different somehow ? But back on topic...yes! But this set before it disappears! 9493 and 9492 Tie Fighter are the OT sets that bought me out of my dark ages! Definitely worth picking up before they become rare and expensive! Quote
Mr Man Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 1. The animators were lazy? 2. They thought the octuptarra magna tri-droids were cooler and have more articulation while being basically the same as the homing spider droids? 3. When TCW cartoon first launched I assumed it was supposed to be expanding the older CW series directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, showing the later stages of the war (Anakin is already a knight, CIS vehicles are painted blue, more advanced octuptarras replace homing spider droids that featured in AOTC and the CW series). But then I learned TCW starts in 22 BBY, making CW non-canon... which doesn't make any sense for me. It ruined chronology, it ruined continuity, it ruined pretty much everything. The lack of homing spider droids is really the last thing that should bother us. Chapter 01-22 fits before Cat and Mouse and 23, 24, and 25 come after The Lost One, Voices, Destiny, and Sacrifice. CW still works out fine in terms of continuity with TCW. Quote
StarWarsTom Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I've a question concerning Lego Star Wars Sculpures: Does anyone have a instruction (PDF or LDD) for a Darth Vader Head Sculpture? Hopefully in the scale of the Darth Maul UCS Head sculpture (set 10018). This would be great because my Darth Maul sculpture feels very lonely in the shelf. Thank you for your help. Quote

Yes...go to www.brickshelf.com and search for a life size Darth Vader helmet by BrickitGood (maskatron). He has a parts list and instructions. He has some amazing sculptures (and mosaics). I've done the Boba Fett and Stormtrooper full size helmets and they were awesome. I'm bricklinking the parts for this Vader too. Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Brick link is your best option. You can choose what parts you need and the figs and buy them from sellers that carry them. They also have sets if you ever need that. Quote
Lobot Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Hi, if you need replacement minifigures then Bricklink is probably the best option. Lego offer a replacement service for lost parts, but they don't sell licensed minifigures which is understandable. For future reference, We have a dedicated thread at the top of the SW forum to ask these sort of questions. I'll move it across in a bit Quote

grum64 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 (edited) I don't know much about what might or might not be rare Star Wars parts so please forgive me if that is the case (and without suggesting what, to those who know anyway, is the obvious) have you tried Bricklink & Brickowl? Darth Reaper Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 i have tried but i cant get the pieces for the uk thats where i struggle Quote
grum64 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 i have tried but i cant get the pieces for the uk thats where i struggle Sometimes delivery charges for non UK Bricklink / Brickowl stores are much less than you think. At the risk of asking the obvious once again (sorry!), have you tried enquiring what the delivery prices would be from these stores? Quote
TheLegoDr Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I think that is the biggest misconception. International delivery will be more expensive, but probably not as expensive as you think. Plus, if that is the only place to get the piece, then what other choice do you have? I haven't ordered from overseas yet, but have been considering it. I'd suspect I'm more worried about the delivery getting lost than the price itself. But I'd inquire about shipping charges. Look at their splash/store info page and see what it says about international shipping. Quote
VK-318 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Shipping charges from some countries are greater than others. One recent Bricklink order I made cost almost $20 to ship, but most, of equivalent size, have cost essentially the same as domestic shipping. Quote
rollermonkey Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Indeed. I'm in the US and I found some great deals from BrickLink stores in Germany and Denmark. I expected the shipping to be crazy expensive, but it worked out it was still less expensive than going with US sellers. Quote
miles teg Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 EBay the set ? You might get lucky. I recently picked up 7657 New in box for £28 with free delivery. And I certainly saw rogue shadow on there relatively cheap (no figs mind) Quote
Mr Man Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I'd double check the shipping costs, some of them are really not a lot extra on an order. Quote
TheBear Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Your best bet is to create a wanted list on bricklink containing everything you are looking for and then use the "Wanted > By Shop" tab to find which stores have the most of what you are looking for. Consider both UK and EU stores and you should be able to find what you need. Quote
Robianco Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I never let the location bother me when ordering broom BrickLink. Whether from the US, Canada, Europe... wherever... the postage to the UK hasn't been that bad unless it's been a particularly large parcel (replacement HP boxes). I've found some UK sellers have been more expensive for even tiny orders... Some think of postage and packing costs as a way of bumping the overall price! Quote
TheBear Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Maybe I had bad luck but the few times I ordered from the US the postage was a lot. I tend to stick to the EU unless I need a rare part. Quote
