Fuppylodders Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Not to mention the 2 aerofoils (If they can be called that) on just the left side alone... Z95 (as we now know it) has only 1 Quote
Robert_88 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 How likely is it that we'll see a cloud city exclusive or set based on it next year? I can't think of much else from the original trilogy that they can remake again for the next wave. I think a remake is very likely. It's one of the most iconic sets and on the wishlist of every OT fan. And TLG is concentrating on OT sets at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised if it will be the successor of the Ewok Village. Quote
Mr Man Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 It's just good sense. Why would anyone buy it for a higher price whole than parted unless the assembly was particularly arduous? With Lego that's the fun . Quote
Artizan Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 I even sometimes buy seperate minifigure parts to complete figures which come out cheaper. Quote
Corydoras Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Buy the parts. The 75014 version of the viper probe droid is a lot better than 7666, though. It's much more accurate - rewatch the movie or check out some photos. Quote
duboismerci Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Could someone post a comparison picture of the new snowspeeder and the 1999 version Thanks Quote
mhortar Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) I swapped the hands from a Stormtrooper with a Snowtrooper so I'd have the Blue box version from the 2nd Millennium Falcon (I have the Original Trilogy version) rather than buy the 'correct' minifigs on Bricklink. Who's to say that's not what the store I would have bought from did :P. What about the different versions of the Battledroid fig, one with a tan 1x2 plate on the back, and one without? Besides, with some people buying used minifigs lots from Ebay/Goodwill/Craigslist/whatever, it's even less likely for a used minifig to be 'original parts', in my opinion. mhortar Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I haven't built mine yet (just got it today), but I can post a pic once I do (I have all the snow speeder variants from over the years). Josh Quote
Robianco Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I even sometimes buy seperate minifigure parts to complete figures which come out cheaper. I've done this loads of times... It always confuses me a little when a seller has component parts for much less than an actual figure. The SSD figures were like this... Dengar and Admiral Piett were much cheaper to pick up the parts for then getting the actual figures. I got the parts for several of them, sold the spare ones and ended up with my figures and an actual profit. Quote
HJR-Holland Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I always laugh when I see the price of the 'TIE-Droid' on BL when it basically consists of a dome- and a dish piece... I always go for the cheapest option; I once bought: - 10x legs in store 1 - 10x torsos in store 2 - 10x head + headgear in store 3 And that way saved 30% compared to a 'full' figure :-) Quote
duboismerci Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Thanks :) Greatly appreciated I will see what I can get as a graduation gift ( ill go for the death star) If not I will probably ask for the AT-AT and the new snowspeeder. Just want to see if it will fit with my 1999 version that means alot to me (It's the first lego I got. I was 5 years old) Quote
Venkefedo Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I even sometimes buy seperate minifigure parts to complete figures which come out cheaper. That's how I got my Harley Quinn! (plus a bunch of other stuff, so technically I spent a lot more than the cost of the cheapest complete Harley+shipping, but since I got more than I wanted, I think it counts as a 'savings') I don't have many Hoth sets, so I'm planning to get some pieces to make a probe droid. Hoth's not the only place any droids were sent, after all! Quote
Lobot Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Hi Jdurg, we have a dedicated thread for Q&As at top of the Star Wars forum. I'll merge this into it in a bit. Cheers, Robin Quote
mhortar Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Here are the Snowspeeder pics. I included (from left to right) the original, the first remake, the one from the Wampa cave, the one from the Echo Base, and the newest one. Josh Quote
Artanis I Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Here are the Snowspeeder pics. I included (from left to right) the original, the first remake, the one from the Wampa cave, the one from the Echo Base, and the newest one. Looks like the Echo Base one has some slopes the wrong way around! Quote
Disbarred Coast Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Does anybody know a good site to buy retired Lego Star Wars sets? I'm looking into buying the best sets that I missed out on. Quote
mhortar Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Looks like the Echo Base one has some slopes the wrong way around! Good catch. Just fixed it :) Does anybody know a good site to buy retired Lego Star Wars sets? I'm looking into buying the best sets that I missed out on. I picked up my retired sets from Ebay, BrickLink, ThePlasticBrick, Craigslist, and a couple others. Occasionally you can find recently retired sets from Target/ToysRUs/Walmart/Amazon. Josh Quote
Mahtion Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I haven't built mine yet (just got it today), but I can post a pic once I do (I have all the snow speeder variants from over the years). Josh Please list the pros/cons and which is best once you build the new one. Thanks! Quote
Gremer Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 The new one's a definite pick-up for me now. Thanks for the pics. Quote
irispen Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 the new snow speeder diffidently better the the previous, it is more accurate... but i do prefer the orange color. Quote
mhortar Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Please list the pros/cons and which is best once you build the new one. Thanks! I just came out of my dark ages in the last year, so I don't have any attachments to any particular era. That being said, I prefer the newest model Pros: - slightly larger (about 2 studs longer and 2 studs wider) - a couple of new(er) interesting pieces - cockpit is better than the original (but similar to the more recent releases) - the tow cable can actually fire! (uses the new pistol from the recent battlepacks). The original didn't have the tow cable at all, btw - 'better' minifigs. The new model comes with Luke, Dak, and Snow Trooper, all new versions with this wave as far as I can tell. Luke and Dak have back/leg printing and double sided faces (Luke has printed visor down and up, Dak has a smile and a frown with visor down on both sides). The Snow Trooper has a printed flesh head, cloth kama, back printing (but no leg printing), new helm mold (without backpack), brick-built backpack (with printed tile), and brick-built heavy blaster (slightly new build, sturdier). I know 'fleshies' are heresy to some, but I like them. - new spring loaded missiles underneath (I know these aren't everyone's favorite though, so feel free to move this to the 'Cons') Cons: - stickers. Only printed piece is the Snow Trooper 'backpack', everything else is a sticker. That being said, the two console stickers are much more 'movie accurate' - no orange. I do kind of miss the orange, which was so prevalent in the early models (including the UCS set) Quote
Faefrost Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I just came out of my dark ages in the last year, so I don't have any attachments to any particular era. That being said, I prefer the newest model - no orange. I do kind of miss the orange, which was so prevalent in the early models (including the UCS set) Luke's ship had the grey markings in Empire. One of the other Snowspeeders was the orange (Wedge I believe?). So they are both accurate. We tend to remember the orange one best because we got the best beauty shots of it as Wedge was searching for Han and Luke after the Wampa. Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 (edited) After seeing the master piece that is Mike Psiaki's X-Wing and Scottish Dave's B-Wing V 1.2, I was wondering what the best versions of the Y-Wing and A-Wing are. I like the most recent TLG versions, but are any MOCs better? After all, the rebels need the best they can get! Edited July 17, 2014 by GuyDudeMan27 Quote
AudiBobaR5-D2 Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I've been thinking. Does anyone know if TLG upgrade the standard Battle Droid design? In terms of a sturdier structure. Nothing wrong with current Battle droid, just been thinking for some time. Quote
