Jdurg Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Just saw on the Lego Shop @ Home website that Set 10221 - Super Star Destroyer is available for purchase. Price is $399.99 and the status is "Out of Stock" with a proposed ship date later in October. So it looks like this set is not retired and they are producing more of them. Have a whole bunch of VIP points saved up due to my massive purchasing of this summer's wave of sets, and also have a birthday coming up next week. Will need to determine if I want to go and purchase this now even though I wouldn't get it until October, or go and get the B-Wing that's for sale which I somehow missed during my binge. Heh. With $30 off the B-Wing, that would only be $20 which isn't too bad. Still, now that I have the ISD from this wave it would be cool to have the SSD since I see it's still available and I won't need to pay the crazy prices for it on BrickLink. Just might have a problem finding a spot for it in my house. Haha. Quote
rollermonkey Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I'd say jump on the SSD. You can always get the B-wing next payday, whereas the SSD might be gone again... and do you really want to pay BL prices for a set that was $400 at retail? Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I agree with Rollermonkey. I would love a chance to get the SSD. This waves B-Wing really doesn't impress me enough to pass something that fantastic up. Personally, I like RengadeClone's/Krispy's/ScottishDave's B-Wing better. A lot better. Have fun with that SSD, if you do end up getting it! Quote
killiandros Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Thanks guys for your responses and help, really appreciate it.I ended up opening it up so it's no longer a sealed collectible item (I figured I'd only be able to resist the temptation to open the boxes and built it for so long anyway).I actually discovered the sticker inside one of the boxes!Odd considering that all the other sets I've purchased had the sticker(s) included in in a plastic sleeve with the manual.Regardless, I might keep the original sticker aside and use the scan that Lobot provided.Cheers again for the nice welcome and speedy assistance in the community! Hi killiandros, and welcome to Eurobricks! Hopefully one of the members can help with your question; personally I haven't owned a 10030 but all of the other UCS sets I've owned had the sticker loose inside the box. If it has been lost, and you want a copy here's a good quality scan: https://www.dropbox....fb9g/1yLUlUAnPM For future reference we have a general Q&A thread pinned at the top of this forum, I'll merge this to it in a bit i opened mine quite some time back, but as I recall, the sticker should be with the manual as well, and NOT in the other sealed boxes. Maybe someone else would like to confirm this? Yeah, mine was in the manual. Quote
Jdurg Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Dammit. Waited too long. Decided today to go ahead and make the purchase, and when I went to the Lego site it is indicated as "Sold Out" and the 06-Oct-2014 ship date was no longer there, and you couldn't add it to your bag. So I'm guessing they either did a VERY limited run that quickly was bought up, or it was a mistake on the site and they aren't actually bringing it out of retirement. Oh well. I likely wouldn't have room for it in the house anyway. Quote

I likely wouldn't have room for it in the house anyway. It's actually not uncommon for there to be a small window of "Out of Stock" between two periods of "Sold Out" or "Retired," especially when it comes to larger, higher-profile sets. As I understand it, this is because the status is automatically set to "Sold Out" and no one can buy the set as soon as there are no more sets that can be shipped, and this includes the sets which people have added to their carts. If some of those people then decide not to buy the set, after a certain amount of time, the set is removed from their cart and the computer system will let someone else buy the set. The short window during which you can buy an about-to-be-retired set lasts only as long as it takes for those final sets that were in someone's cart to be bought. If you're still interested in buying the set, you could try calling a Brand Retail store to ask if they have one on the shelf or in the back. Moon_Knight Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) Maybe this has been talked about before but I'm not sure so let's see. I'm a fan of the new AT-AT. I like the way it looks, I like the new snowtroopers (I know there are some people that aren't fans), and I really like the new printing for the AT-AT pilot. One thing I consider a HUGE con of the new AT-AT though is the lack of anything inside of it. It only has a trapdoor mechanism for snowtroopers to drop out (if that's what it's for). My question is: is there a set or something that's supposed to go in it? Having 4483, which has seating compartments and a speeder bike, I find the interior of this new AT-AT very unimpressive. Am I the only one? Edited July 31, 2014 by Moon_Knight Quote
Tariq j Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I agree with you. The interior was a dissapointment as it was just dedicated to one mechanism when it could have Been used for two or three useful needs. Such as a slot for the snowspeeder, or like it's predessesor, seats for snowtroopers. As far as I'm aware there are no other sets that are compatible with this with exception of the snowspeeder. However it's possible to modify the section in order to customise the interior. Quote

Am I the only one? Yeah, in my opinion, the trooper bay is kind of lame. There's nothing that goes in it and LEGO really missed out on an opportunity. However, many fans didn't like how the speeder took up space, both in the old ATs and the Gunships. LEGO left the interior of 75021 empty, and so they might be encouraging AFOLs to MOD the interior to suit their tastes. Quote
xcal Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Hello everyone, Big lego star wars fan. I'm looking to buy 3 sets over the next 12-18 months but I'm unsure about what sets to buy right now because they are all pretty pricey. 1, Lego Star Wars Ewok Village - £199.99 2, Lego star Wars Sandcrawler - £249.99 3, Lego Star Wars Death Star - £274.99 My question is, are any of them limited? or due to be retired soon? Basically what one to buy now, in 6 months and again in 12 months. Thanks in advance!!! Quote
BrickG Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Ewok Village and Sandcrawler are new and won't be retired soon. Quote
Off the wall Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Death Star. Without a doubt. Maybe the best Lego set, and I'm just so-so as far as SW goes. The other two have both been out less than a year. They should be around for a long while. Quote

GuyDudeMan27 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 So Death star first, Sandcrawler second and Ewok third? yep. I have the death star and it is amazing. great buy. definitely go for it Quote
Gremer Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 The Sandcrawler is a great model. I ragged on it before, but after moving it around, I have to say, it's a great set. Quote
plew2000 Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Hmm. I would recommend the sand crawler. It will most likely be retiring soon. However if you just want a fun set the death star would be a good pick, it is debatable as to weather or not it is the best Lego set ever made. If you have a tight*ish* budget I would recommend the ewok village I think it has the most mini figures of any set for that price. Good luck and tell me what you pick! Quote
TitanArch Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 (edited) I'm making a trip to the LEGO store in downtown Chicago next week. For my 41st birthday I get pick a set (or maybe sets) in the ~$200 price range. I'm leaning heavily towards the Red Five X-Wing, but I also like the MF Haunted House, and Tower of Orthanc. My kids love The LEGO Movie and I could get the Sea Cow; a bit pricey though. Star Wars is probably my favorite theme, it's what got me back into LEGO. Any other Star Wars sets or other sets I should be considering? I'm not interested in modulars. And if it was already available, I could totally see getting the new UCS Tumbler. Or the new Star Destroyer and something else...The Cantina, I guess. So, what would you suggest? Edited August 1, 2014 by TitanArch Quote

Why would the Sandcrawler be retiring soon? It's only been out for a couple months, I think. The Ewok Village has been around for a year and the DS for several years. My main beef with the DS is the faces of the figures; granted, it's several years old from before highlighted pupils were really prevalent, but Leia & the Luke faces are super-tiny and weird. Still, easy enough to replace those, and the old Luke hair pieces. Fun build, loads of scenes represented, and tons of minifigs. EDIT: fixed a typo Edited August 1, 2014 by Venkefedo Quote
Tariq j Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Hi Titanarch, I personally would go for the Star Destroyer and possibly the B-Wing. I always find it better to get sets that can be combind and displayed together rather than separatly. I won't be the first to admit that the star destroyer isn't the best of sets, but it has good qualities, the bridge is more detailed, new minifigures and a whole empty room which can be modified to the owners tastes. I intend on getting all 3 sets sometime over the next year, all 3 look amazing. I'm sure the Ewok village will be around for awhile. I'm just trying to decide on the Sandcrawler or the death star. After reading the forums it seems that the DS has been due to retire for years and people think the sand crawler will have a short lifetime... Quote
Chills Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 So the new sets are out and I'm itching to go out and buy them all. However, my wife suggested I wait until TLG has a double-points month. Does anyone know when they usually have those? Quote
Gremer Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 There is a Double VIP Points promotion in October, I think. Quote

Does anyone know when they usually have those? What's up man! Usually they do it in the fall, like September/October timeframe, that is if memory serves me correctly. I bought all the OT sets when they came out, but wished I waited now since on Shop At Home sells all of them for a package deal. Would have saved like $90.00, bummer. Oh well live and learn I guess. You must be referring to this collection: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Star-Wars-Classic-Collection-5004243 It's not discounted at all from the normal prices... $130+110+70+50+30 = $390. Quote
