-Horizon- Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 A question: What are the best buys to build a Kashyyyk scenario? Nothing fancy, I am just thinking about the platform Yoda was on when Order 66 was issued and Gree tried to kill him. Ewok Village, That's all I can think of. Quote

No proper SW MOC is complete without knowledge of it. Quote
kongman Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 has anyone done a moc for this ? .....i was trying to search Quote
Lobot Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Hi kongman, there's a general SW Q&A thread pinned at the top of this forum. I'll merge this with it in a bit I haven't seen one myself, but perhaps some of the other EB members can help. Quote

I'm a big Star Wars fan and have yet to see the Holiday Special. Partly because I can't find a copy of it. Quote
Flieger Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Thanks for the tips! I would like to have avoided licensed sets, but let's see. PS: I saw the holiday special on youtube a while ago... Quote
Tjahzi Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I only have 75050, but I would say it's a great set to get if you don't have the last version. The minifigs are great (especially Gray Squadron Pilot), the build is really fun, and it looks pretty good on display, even though the s-foils don't close all the way. Hello and welcome to eurobricks. Based off the sets you want to acquire, I can tell your a big collector, so the UCS B-Wing wouldn't be a bad idea for you to pay for. However IMO the B-Wing isn't really a good set to be a UCS, although many may disagree. I think the 2006 version is really cool too, and although it's retired you can still get it between 30 to 40 euros. I think it's better because it's very detailed with some cool play features, and it looks great on display. However the newer system set has some cool things itself, like the amazing minifigures it comes with. Whichever one is better is just a matter of opinion, however I think you will be more satisfied with getting one of the system sets rather than the UCS set. The only bad thing I could say about the new system B-Wing is that the wings are too thin, but at that price/piece count some compromises have to be made. It still looks nice on display and the minifigs are great. The Grey Squadron pilot is the best pilot minifig imho (but that is because I have a soft spot for the design). A word on displays: I think that a Lego display should feature minifigs. It is Lego after all, not Revell. Hence the quality of the minifigs is an important point to me and the recent waves have loads of quality minifigs. Thanks for the tips! Bought the 75050 instead, and so I can save some money to buy the Ewok Village later on. Quote
Chills Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I'm a big Star Wars fan and have yet to see the Holiday Special. Partly because I can't find a copy of it. I saw it years ago, someone had it on VHS when I was a kid. I remember thinking (even as a kid) "WTH???" It was pretty bad. But I would LOVE to see it again. Quote

The animated part of the Special is an Easter Egg on the Star Wars BluRay set. http://furiousfanboys.com/2011/09/see-the-boba-fett-holiday-special-cartoon-on-blu-ray/ Edited August 17, 2014 by Jedi-Bendu Quote
Faefrost Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I'm a big Star Wars fan and have yet to see the Holiday Special. Partly because I can't find a copy of it. It sometimes pops up in its entirety on YouTube and lasts a bit before take down. The main point is the bulk of the special takes place in Chewbacca's house on Kashyyck. So it is indispensable for modeling. (Not good mind you). Make sure you don't forget Grandpa and his pg pretty daisy machine. (I so wish I was making this up). Quote
Jedi-Bendu Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) Holiday special: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xn5gsj_the-star-wars-holiday-special_shortfilms Found in a few seconds with Google..... As said: for the animated segment in good quality I advise to grab the BluRay set as it's an Easter Egg (see my previous post) Edited August 17, 2014 by Jedi-Bendu Quote
ISDAvenger Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I have the Blue Ray, but I don't see the Boba Fett, under Epi V. Went to Cloud City, but no Boba Fett....just picture of the Slave 1. Quote

Jdurg Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Heh, it's funny that the topic regarding Boba Fett was brought up here as I just recently watched the entirety of the Star Wars Saga Blu-Ray set while recovering from the minor surgical procedure I had. The Cartoon with Boba Fett is definitely VERY cringeworthy to say the least. Heh. Still, was nice watching all the movies again as a group and seeing all of my Lego sets in there and going "Yeah, I have that one! That one too!" Felt like a little kid all over again which is the best you can ask for when watching a movie. As much as so many of us like the criticize and complain and pick apart the littlest details, if you can sit back and just take in the movies for what they are and not hyperanalyze everything, you'll see that they are still very good movies and have that "thing" which can't really be quantified but draws you into them. My little nephew is only 3 years old and wasn't even alive when the RotS came out, but he loves every single one of the movies and is always asking "Uncle Justin, can we watch the Star Wars movies?". Of course, how can I say no? He's always playing with his Lego sets while watching the movies and enjoying them just as all of us did when we first saw them as kids. (Oh yeah, post 100!!!) Quote
Tjahzi Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Don't know if I should ask it here, or in another part of the forum, but how does the VIP-program of S@H actually work in terms of pre-orders/early sales of certain items? (f.e. The Tumbler 76023 or the rumored UCS Slave 1) Would it be better and cheaper to buy it now or later? Do sets like these have a high chance to be sold out in a few weeks or ..? I keep reading about sales and discounts or double VIP points in October-December, is this correct? Sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance! Quote
AudiBobaR5-D2 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Is it possible to make a Cloud City without going to the expense of buying a used or new complete set which could set for very high prices? Like buying seperate parts and making a bigger version of CC. Quote
GallardoLU Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 AudiBobaR5-D2, to answer your questions to build Cloud City (with out figures) can be done fairly cheaply, (estimate 150-250 range) but if you want the figures to go with it that will climb to 500+ for the entire set, even pieced together. your second question of making a bigger MOC of Cloud City is tough to know, start on the high side for the no figure version and add in the changes you have in mind, this could come in from 250 to well over the price of a complete set depending on your changes. AudiBobaR5-D2 Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 (edited) @GallardoLU Thanks for clearing that up for me. I might pass on that then on building a Cloud City from scratch. How much would Lego Star Wars Classic 7110 be back in 1999, UK price. EDIT: Also where can I find the original Droid Escape, 7106 from 2001 at a reasonable price nowadays that is complete. Many thanks Edited August 20, 2014 by AudiBobaR5-D2 Quote
Lobot Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Hi AudiBoba, I tried Bricklinking a 10123 a couple of years ago, and most of the parts are relatively easily to find (and at a reasonable cost). However the main problem are the 4 x 'Light Gray Brick, Round Corner 16 x 16' which are very expensive. At the time I was only interested in new parts and admitted defeat, as the cost would have been prohibitive to finish it. It's probably better to find an incomplete one on Ebay, if you just want the set, and you can use Bricklink to source anything missing. To be honest, and as much as I love the set, it isn't anything special...so I've decided to wait for the new version (which has got to happen at some point!!) Quote

Lynx Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 I'm usually active in the Historic Themes forum, so please forgive my ignorance with LEGO Star Wars. I just stumbled across LEGO Darth Revan! He's possibly my favourite SW character of all time since he'll always remind me of my favourite stand-alone video game ever, Knights of the Old Republic. Before I frantically search for the best offer on Bricklink, would anybody be so kind to tell me whether there are any LEGO products featuring characters or ships from the same video game? Quote
hjmediastudios Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 The closest you'll come is the TOR sets- the Republic vs. Sith battle pack, the Defender cruiser, the Sith Fury interceptor, and the Republic swing-wing starfighter whose name escapes me. TLG has never released any KOTOR sets beyond the single Revan minifig-only polybag. Quote
