Fuppylodders Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 The closest you'll come is the TOR sets- the Republic vs. Sith battle pack, the Defender cruiser, the Sith Fury interceptor, and the Republic swing-wing starfighter whose name escapes me. TLG has never released any KOTOR sets beyond the single Revan minifig-only polybag. Which I personally think is a shame. I never played the game but I think that all the 3 sets and the battlepack that got released were bloody good sets with good strong builds, exceptionally well designed and thought out, and really good minifigs, especially the sith characters. I will miss not seeing anymore of these. Quote
rexusprime Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Hey guys! What set is better: Jabba's Sail Barge+Desert Skiff (both new version) or Jabba's Palace+Rancor Pit (new palace). I want to buy some OT sets but can't afford both. Quote
GallardoLU Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 personally I enjoy the palace far more than the Barge. the rancor is really the only part of that set that is all that interesting though. at the same time the Skiff is a nice fairly cheap set with a very detailed Boba Fett. it really comes down to figures in the end though I think. which of the extra characters do you like most? (ideally get all 4 sets, but I know that's not an option for every one) Quote
Alfadas Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Indeed a hard one. I think I would go for the Palace. Quote
rexusprime Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 @gallardolu you're right...I'm probably gonna buy me the Palace+the rancor pit and the desert skiff. Thanks for all your help! I really like the Boba Fett and the Lando(I think it's lando[the guy with the mask]) Quote
AwesomeBantha Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 @gallardolu you're right...I'm probably gonna buy me the Palace+the rancor pit and the desert skiff. Thanks for all your help! I really like the Boba Fett and the Lando(I think it's lando[the guy with the mask]) It is Lando. I have all four sets and I would say that the palace is the best; you get Jabba and 8 more figures, all intricately detailed and of superb quality. The Rancor pit is the next best thing because, you guessed it, the Rancor. It's huge, its arms, fingers and mouth all move. It can eat a whole figure. The skiff is good for figures and parts, but the set is kind of meh. The barge is similar; you buy it for the figures, but the parts aren't all that great and the build is below average. Also, even though it comes with Jabba, there are fewer figures than the palace. You, IMHO, have made a good choice. Have fun building! Quote

Darth Nader Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Palace is a much better set, it has a lot more minifigures and play functions, and much more accurate to the palace than the barge is to its movie appearance. Plus the Rancor looks awesome. Quote
Darth Nader Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Exactly. Why would they bother releasing a single figure that is unique, totally out of context. Maybe TOR stuff is coming... I doubt it, with all the rebels and Episode 7 sets going to be released in the next few years I'm sure the few other sets will be from the Saga. Quote
Venkefedo Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 I would hope they'd have fun with peppering in some EU ships in the MicroFighters line as ways to deliver interesting characters, but with (so far) only one wave per year and the bland lineup of the rumored Wave 2, it's not a very big hope... Would be nice to see Bossk in a smaller set, an Ebon Hawk with HK-47, etc. Quote
Tronedor Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Where can you even grab the Palace for a good price? I was just on the LEGO website and saw it was 50% off and now sold out!? This must of been a while ago as I can't believe I would of missed such a deal. Quote
TheCrazyHeadGamer Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Hi there ! I want (need ??) to gift myself another huge star wars set and i'm really torn between those 2... 10221 seems highly overpriced but looks awesome. 75059 has lots of minifigures, less overpriced and looks less awesome... I'm an AFOL so it's mainly for display but i also like to take photos ans make dioramas what's your opinion folks ? Thanks ! (sorry for my bad english !) Quote
Darth Nader Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 (edited) I don't own either, but personally I find the Sandcrawler to be a better set. IMO it has better figures, more interesting design and functions, and overall feels like you get a lot more out of your money compared to the Executor. But it really matters based off what you want it for. You want it for display and for photos, so really either one is a good set for you to get, so really it comes down to personal preferance, but I think the Sandcrawler is a much cooler in just about every way. Your English is actually pretty good by the way. Edited August 20, 2014 by Darth Nader Quote
GallardoLU Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 well, those are currently the only UCS sets I own, and the SSD is extremely impressive. if it is only for display then its definitely a good choice. 75059 is also an impressive sight, the play factors are huge, and it suits itself well to scenes. the figures in the Sandcrawler are great (Jawas have only ever been in the Sandcrawler sets). if I were to chose one of the 2 to buy again it would be the Sandcrawler, but if I was only going to rebuild one of them the SSD is a more entertaining build. tough call though both are well worth grabbing! Quote
rexusprime Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 I think the Sandcrawler is better. It's good for displaying and it's a lot cheaper than the SSD. As Darth Nader said you get more for your money. Quote
intimmydation Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 If you can still find and get 10221 for retail, get it since it's now officially retired (at least in the US). Can pick up the Sandcrawler next year (May the 4th perhaps). Quote
TheCrazyHeadGamer Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Hmmm tough call ! But the crawler really seems to be a better deal ! Never understood why the SSD was so expensive :( Quote
samlr Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 The two sets are great. They both have exclusive and uncommon minifigs. They are both nice to display. And they are both important and recognizable from the first SW trilogy. Now the SSD 10221 requires to have quite some space to display, the Sandcrawler 75059, less. On the other hand, if you don't buy the SSD 10221 now and you regret later on, you'll have to buy at very high price ! Quote
Robert_88 Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 The 75059 has more play functions but I don't know if you like them. I think the 10221 is more impressive. Quote

On the other hand, if you don't buy the SSD 10221 now and you regret later on, you'll have to buy at very high price ! VERY well stated. I came out of my dark ages just a tiny bit too late and barely missed the SSD. I was able to get the Sandcrawler at retail a bit earlier this year, and just earlier this afternoon I picked up the SSD set. The problem is that the SSD set cost me around $500, and that was only because I was able to use some cashback options with my Amazon card and also had budgeted money for a big spend. This time next year, I'm willing to bet that you'll still be able to get the Sandcrawler from a Lego Store, but the SSD will likely cost you a hundred dollars or more than it would right now. (Here in North America, the SSD is not available for sale at retail stores. On the Lego Shop At Home website it is still readily available in all European stores, however. Kind of irked that I can't buy it from Lego simply because of where I live, but them's the breaks). I'll be getting the SSD on Friday (unless of course this order from Amazon is canceled like my order yesterday was), so I don't really know how that build it. With the Sandcrawler, I can tell you that it is an incredibly fun build and it has plenty of minifigures and droids with which you can create many dioramas with. I really like every aspect of the Sandcrawler set and am very happy that I made the purchase. If I had neither set in my possession, however, but was able to purchase one of the two, I would go with the SSD because of the fact that it is more likely to become prohibitively expensive regardless of where you live much sooner than the Sandcrawler will. In the US (and Canada I think) the piece kind of toys is mandatory. So if Lego sold European box in the US it would be "illegal" Boxes are different in North America from the rest of the world. Quote
Tronedor Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I'd go with the SSD if you can get it, bought one the other day myself for $700 CAD along with an Imperial Shuttle. Will be putting the Shuttle together tomorrow then the SSD the following days, so nice to get those grail pieces xD. Plus SSD will only be going up in price while the Sandcrawler as others have stated will more then likely go on sale at one point or another. :) Quote
Moexy Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Hello guys, is there some sort of list that includes all LEGO released Star Wars minifigures that appear in the movies? It's because I recently decided to collect only minifigures that appear in the movies, but I also collect the The Clone Wars variants of figs (like Shaak-Ti and Even Piell, ...). Now I have to "purge" all the other minifigures who have not featured in the movies, but I'm afraid that I'll overlook some figs, a list would be very helpfull in that case :) Quote
