What confounds me to oblivion is that with all the detailed rereleases of minifigures we have seen from 2011ish and on, how is it that Lego has never released a new Cloud City Lando? They need no new pieces and I think most people see that as THE version of Lando that best represents the character. That fig is scalped to hell and outdated, and to me, it seems like the most blatantly missing from the last decades offering. There are a few other figs that are due for a makeover (Wedge,Biggs, and Tarkin for sure), but at least those figs aren't unreasonably expensive.

Lego has clearly worked to fill in the gaps of missing and outdated characters and I believe that while they do clearly save certain figs for big exclusive sets, they also have given us many nice polybag characters in the past few years that would otherwise not show up in sets clearly someone at lego is doing their research on obscure characters to produce, meaning they give some thought to what they have and haven't made or revamped. I am not trying to draw a conclusion of "Cloud city is coming out next year!" or anything but, do you think Lego is intentionally holding back a rerelease of Lando just in case they decide to make a cloud city inspired set? Can there be any other reason they have decided not to make him?

Probably not. I'd say that was the exact reason.

Star Wars is an evergreen theme... the greenest of evergreens. It's become more and more glaringly obvious how much of a hole Cloud City is in everyone's OT collection following the list of Jabba releases to cover Tatoonine in ROTJ as well as the UCS Ewok Village that can sit alongside 8038 (which still actually holds up pretty well as a set). We've had X-Wings, Y-Wings, B-Wings and A-Wings to cover both attacks on the Death Star, numerous Hoth sets including various incarnations of Echo base (which we may be getting a large version of too) as well as AT-ATs, Snowspeeders and even a Wampa cave. We've had a cantina and Sandcrawler and T-16 SKyhopper to cover most of Tatooine on ANH along with a Falcon set that still looks good and the 10188 Death Star which is still alive and kicking. A Shuttle Tydirium is on the way (possibly with updated Endor camo heroes) and a final duel set which could give us a new Vader helmet with Sebastian Shaw alternate face(?).

That just kind of leaves Cloud City and Dagobah as the glaring omissions from the fleshie revolution. Rebels and Episodes VII-IX will take up a lot of the waves for the next few years but who knows when they'll give us those elusive sets. I'm also thinking that 4-Lom and Zuckuss might actually make it into the CC set (or sets).

Couldn't agree more.

What I like to know is TLG's opinion on this.

A thing that makes me fear for the worst is this: I read that the designer of the Ewok village had never seen Star Wars prior to designing the set. The set came out good though, so it wasn't a problem in this case. Still, TLG has people working on the sets that haven't seen the movies....what if the people who decide which sets are being made aren't fans or have seen Star Wars just once and/or haven't got any 'feeling' with the franchise?

Look at the 2011 EchoBase set. Looking at this makes me think the designer has never seen ESB and designed the set based on some screenshots.

So, what I would like to know if someone at TLG is thinking "We haven't done Dagobah/CC in a while.....when should we do a re-release?" or if they're thinking something like "MORE Hoth! We love Hoth! Cloud City? Can't find that on google maps".

I dont think that being true to detail is the most important item on their check list. Its obvious that a lot of sets are not done by true fans and thats a shame because there are a some MOC's out there that are quite amazing; but they are designed by true fans!

That's not true. Many people seem to think that the Ewok Village designer has not seen the movie. That is far from true, every designer has to keep watching the movie over and over if they are designing a set, next to looking at studio models and reference images. If you've seen the designer video Jamie (right?) actually says something like: I have not seen all star wars movies. With that, he means that he has not seen one or two of the prequels.

Designers and TLG are always doing very good on sourcing information and watching stuff from licenced themes. I spoke to a designer some years ago, and they almost watch the movies and references more than they build with actual bricks. Also, most of those I had spoken were Star Wars fans, but at least have some feeling for SW or are Sci-fi fans. There are enough people that want to work at lego, so I am sure TLG will choose the most fitting ones, those with feeling for bricks and the francise! I actually noticed that every set designer is very passionate about their themes.

About the set choice - I don't know how that is done nowadays. I remember when talking to designers for a few years they actually liked to get input from fans and children, they actually really listened carefully! It came to the point that I made a list of sets with descriptions I liked to see, which I handed in to them - and what do you know? A year later I saw quite some of those on the shelfs, exactly as I said how I would like them!

For the rest - they get most input from the licence holders, first by a lucasfilm department, they send some list of vehicles that are upcoming/are popular/they want to see, and the design team decides which they will make. Now disney, actually still lucasfilm, gives them input. Also, I think the marketing department says what's wise to choose to make a set for.

I went to Walmart this morning in Bristol, TN. The only clearance set was Pre Vizsla's starfighter for $40. Everything else they had were a few Cantinas, the Phantom (opened), and a dozen Republic cannons. Needless to say, I was disappointed. I'm going to Barnes & Noble, K-Mart, Target and maybe Walmart and Toys R Us in Johnson City tomorrow, we'll see how that goes

What is colour of slave's 1 engines?

every single on screen moment the Engine color is orange-yellow, and every single set leading up to the UCS has also been orange..... and then the UCS came out with blue.... the ONLY possible reason for the change (apart from them screwing up) is that in EP VII Boba returns and the color changes due to some mod he did after surviving the pit (or perhaps some one took his place, Dread Pirate Roberts style! )

The UCS set is pretty clearly a rendition of Cloud City Boba. All of the figures are included to create the carbonite loading shot and even the box art has cloud city all over it. The only explanation for the engine exhaust colours I can think of is that it was cheaper to do the blue plastic.

Thank you. That's what I thought but UCS confused me. Also I saw fan art where upper engine was orange and lower engines were blue... So I'll stay with orange ones :classic:

Also, the astromech head that came with the microfighter is made to be joined with the R2-XT set from the advent calendar. Together they form the green astromech you see next to R2 in the pilot assembly room.

Hi, I guess it depends if you're in any hurry for it. In the UK, it's been on sale anywhere been 20-50% off RRP during the last few months, and I doubt that it will be discontinued for a while, so you should hopefully be able to find it cheaper somewhere :classic: Personally I think it's a good set, if a little on the small side.

I don't know if you've read my review? http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=96407

Thanks. I'll wait month or two then. I read and I want it, but regular price is only disadvantage I can find.

How easy is it to convert set 7915 to house a full astromech droid?

It's possible, but to me not worth the effort, as it has me wondering why one would want to do that.

Firstly, you need to replace all 1x2 clips to 1x1 clips, which makes the cockpit opening and flaps moving really unstable. Then all pieces under there needs to be replaced, and you have to come up with a way to still rotate the wings simulaneously, as the connecting axle sits in the wrong place. So you need to work around that with gears.

So in the end, you have a V-wing that has big gears on the outside, a cockpit that does open but will fall of, and all kind of gabs next to the astromech. Also, you lose a bunch of otherwise very usefull pieces.

Thanks for the replies. On second thoughts I might leave it as it is originally.

I need some hep: I'm trying to identify the part attached.

Anyone knows the nunber of the part and if this part belongs to any star wars set?

Thanks in advance.

Lluís.

Alternatively, design your own version :D Im quite happy with using a 2x2 turntable plate to add 'playability' to it... But the ability to squeeze a full droid in would be impressive if pulled off well.

Have you tried searching on bricklink's catalogue of all parts that are of the colour trans black? Should come across it quite easily that way. I would do it myself but only on my phone at the moment and Its a pain in the megablocks for me :p

Where did you find it? I can't see anything similar in the catalogue under "windscreen, decorated" or "windscreen". Is it definitely Lego?
