tom20arc Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Every Lego SW collector needs a AT-AT in his collection AT-AT is a far better choice in my opinion: You get a far better and completer set (the sail bar misses a skiff), the build is a great deal better, and of course, as mentioned above you need at least one AT-AT That's true, I'll probably go for the AT-AT. Always liked it as a kid but never had the money to buy it haha. Quote
Fuppylodders Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 While im biased towards saying the atat because I think the barge is just too lacklustre in quite a few things... Id say it does have nice minifigs. But thats about it. The ATAT has nice average and yet still new minifigs and it is a nice solid build this time round. Personally id go with the ATAT too :p Quote
captainmib Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 So, i'm not a lego star wars collector, but i really do not understand all these TIE variants. It's just the same spacecraft with different wing designs. What's the deal with all these types, and why would you collect anything else than one TIE fighter? Quote

Because in the SW universe they all exist. TIE Advanced is what Darth Vader flew. TIE Fighter is the standard ship... TIE Interceptor and TIE Bomber also exist as part of the Imperial Fleet as so many other variants. It's not just down to a change in the wing shape either... those mentioned above have different roles to play so have entirely different shapes. If there was a range of Formula One cars from Lego and someone was into that theme it would be like asking someone why they bought more than one... Why get the McLaren or Red Bull when you've got a Ferrari? Quote

Still, for the untrained eye it looks like they are all the same, and just a different wing design (or for that matter, different looks of a formula 1 car) don't justify a buy. (for me it won't) Maybe it's that the rebel fighters/bombers look so much different from each other, that it stands out that the empire all look alike. Quote

It is pretty much the same as me asking you: Why do you collect technic models for, they always look sooo incomplete, what with all the holes all over the place. Who would want to pay for an incomplete looking model? It is what people enjoy collecting. They ARE different in a variety of ways, but they all follow the same theme. Whether it is the cockpit position/shape, the design of the wings, the shape of it all together... they are similar, but still very different. People buy them because they are aesthetically pleasing to them and enjoy the actually pretty decent look of them. Then there is the collectability. While they are all very good designs and look very similar to their source material, there are those people that want to collect all the possible different varients... because it is simply what they like. It's a personal thing. Quote
TWP Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Is Lego Star Wars set 7672, Rogue Shadow worth getting? I own the set, and I think it's quite nice, especially for its time. I got it when I had not actually played the game, liked it but thought it was a strange craft and I didn't know exactly what to do with it because it had strange/unkown figs, which made the set look to be from a different faction. After I had played the game, I actually liked it much more because I knew what it was and meant. Now the set is a bit less to me, as TFU is not really that much on my mind anymore, but I still not regret having bought it. It can actually quite live up to today's vehicle designs too. What matters most to you if you want to buy it, is if you want it, like if you would miss it when you did not own it, which mostly depends on how well you know TFU. Also, the price and its condition is an important factor. The minifigs are actually just a tiny bit outdated, but replacing the heads might do enough. Other than that, play features are OK, though there is a little bit too less space in the cockpit. The build is nice too. Personally, if I could buy it right now and I did not own it already, I'd prefer to buy some of the newer sets from 2015, especially as I've got a limited budget. Quote

Was thinking about what you have mentioned about the set, and whether or not after 7 years if I should get the set, which I might anyway. Thanks again Quote
BJM Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I found the Rogue Shadow to be a really enjoyable build. The wings are a bit odd, but the cockpit is really well designed and it swoops very nicely indeed. I have limited space on what ships I have out, but this has always remained on the shelf. It looks perfectly imperial - and I think looks way cooler than a lot of the other starships of that size (in fact I have put it on the stand for the UCS shuttle as I like the shuttle sitting on its landing gear - and the Rogue looks good from underneath). It really is a good sized good looking ship and I would highly recommend it. Quote
Robianco Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I actually managed to pick up a bunch or torsos for not very much recently as right there along with all the regular city police torsos was Galen Marek's. I've always liked the look of the Rogue Shadow and now I have Starkiller and Juno then I can look for a nice ship only set somewhere. Quote
AudiBobaR5-D2 Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Thanks again for the replies about 7672. Has made me finally decide to get the set after reading the replies. Quote
LegoKol Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 It's totally worth the time and money. What a cool design that was. I'm still thinking about picking up a second one, and trying to convince folks in my LUG that we should attempt a minifig scale version, which would work out to slightly less than double the length of the UCS Falcon. I've been crunching the numbers on the exact same challenge, so far its not looking good (funding being the limiting factor) double the length and increase the width parts count nearly quadruples! also I don't have anywhere to store a ship that size once complete. At least for now, I'd have the display space, as my LUG has a somewhat permanent display at a local mall. Most of my SW collection is out there, along with our train layout. Quote
brickpreviews Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Between the LEGO AT-AT and the Imperial Star Derstroyer which one do you think is worth getting? Only have budget for one and they are similarly priced Quote
Chills Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I guess I'm in the minority about the Rogue Shadow. It's the one set I'd be willing to part with. The wings are odd, the build is funky, and it feels quite unfinished. The minifigs are cool, but that's about all. @Brickpreviews: I have both sets, built them recently. It's really personal choice. I really liked both builds, and both sets are great display pieces. Minifigures in both are also really cool, so it's a tough decision. I guess if they are both the same price I'd go with the ISD, since it retails for more and sounds like a better deal. Quote
Tariq j Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I has exactly the same decision a while ago, and I went for the ISD, reason being that alot of people felt the ISD had more to offer. As Chills rightly said above it is a personal choice as it is hard to choose between two flagship sets which both have good qualities. Quote
LegoKol Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Between the LEGO AT-AT and the Imperial Star Derstroyer which one do you think is worth getting? Only have budget for one and they are similarly priced I wound up getting both but if I had to pick only one, I'd get the Star Destroyer set. They just made so many cool changes, plus the new figs are really neat. I've got the previous SD set, as well as an incomplete UCS set that I'm still collecting parts for. For various reasons, I'm a fan of all of them. Quote
brickpreviews Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Cool thanks for the responses, ISD it is! :) Quote
Krusi86 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Has anyone made at-mp and could show my or point my where to find it Quote
Nom Carver Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Mmmm, what is an At-Mp? try on brickshelf or MOC pages. Quote
rollermonkey Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I think you're going to want to start by getting about 16-20 shooter bricks... Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I would first try google images, but I would also look in the MOC index here on the Star Wars Forum. It should be under the EU MOC section. Quote
branolego Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Here is a picture of one on flickr. Quote
