eldiano Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Is 7662 MTT worth keeping? Also how easy is it to create, roughly, a hanger/corridor from any one iconic scene from both the Prequel and Original Trilogy? I plan on returning mine to the lego store since I don't want it and bought it online. Quote
Raj_UK Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Hi community I'm a newbie UK poster on the forums and I've done a bit of searching but couldn't find what I wanted so here's this post I'm considering building a 10179 from bar parts What's the best way for me to go about getting all the parts I've seen people mention getting a spreadsheet made up and entering all the part numbers and quantities then checking prices on PAB and BrickLink ... but for a newbie to this that sounds daunting Are there any shortcut I could take ? Any spreadsheets I can grab for example which have suggestions for alternate parts for the handful of hard to get 10179 parts ? or any premade ways of getting the parts entered in to a shopping basket on Lego.com etc ... Or do I have to take the plunge and boot up a new spreadsheet LOL thanks in advance for the help Raj Quote
neoconagenda Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 (edited) There are two prominant threads around that lay out the process fairly well. Below is a link to one of them. http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=80053 Edited May 5, 2015 by neoconagenda Quote
Lobot Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Hi Raj_UK and welcome to Eurobricks! For future reference, there's a general Q&A thread pinned to the top of this forum; I'll merge this with it in a bit As mentioned by neoconagenda there's several useful threads around, and here's a few more which you may find interesting: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=67818 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=67129 https://bricklinking10179.wordpress.com/ Good luck with the project if you decided to proceed with it. Lukasguy Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 When I started making my UCS Imperial Star destroyer I started printing out the pieces inventory. I then started collecting all the pieces I had and marked the ones I still needed. I then made a bricklink list with all the pieces I needed to buy and started looking for shops that had them. Some pieces might be cheaper on the lego website on bricks and pieces or pick a brick. Good luck. Quote
Raj_UK Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 thanks everyone and sorry admin for posting in the wrong place ok then ... time to read those posts and get started the first step is the hardest, right ? LOL :) Quote
Lobot Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Hi Raj_UK, no problem at all, and just ask if you want any help with your project It's great fun, but I'd strongly recommend that you do quite a lot of planning before you start making any orders! Quote
AudiBobaR5-D2 Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Just a question. What would be the quickest way to build a Lego Star Wars set (if there is a quicker way that is). In terms of building key parts of the set first, then putting them together afterwards, or brick by brick? Quote
Chills Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Okay so I have cut my options down to just two. Which one should I Bricklink, 10030 UCS Imperial Star Destroyer for $600 or 10143 UCS Death Star II for $338? And the Star Destroyer would be Light Bluish Gray not the Old Light Gray if I were to do it 10030!! I may be biased, but I love this set and think it's an awesome display piece. Quote
Hulk_Smash Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Regarding the free posters, it says a new one every month, has that only started this month with A new Hope, or have I missed any? Quote
mike_mcbam Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Regarding the free posters, it says a new one every month, has that only started this month with A new Hope, or have I missed any? You've not missed any, they are apparently being released in the same order that the corresponding films were released. Quote
Hulk_Smash Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 That's good then, I want them all (despite not having anywhere to put them) Quote
neoconagenda Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 10030!! I may be biased, but I love this set and think it's an awesome display piece. Agree 100%.... You dont realize how massive it is until you have to find a place for it!!! Quote
eldiano Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 quick question, anyone used the death star troopers "gun" on the death star set itself and swapped it out? Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 quick question, anyone used the death star troopers "gun" on the death star set itself and swapped it out? I've done it, and it looks pretty good. My original gun got destroyed so it took its place nicely. Quote
eldiano Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I've done it, and it looks pretty good. My original gun got destroyed so it took its place nicely. It does look a bit smaller, but it feels like it was meant for it, Are you also getting the Final Duel set coming out next month and see if you can outfit it in this set? Quote

No. I might end up getting it, but even if I do I think that the one in the Death Star is just fine. Quote
Backgild Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 With the summer wave coming up soon, is there a good chance that any current sets will be clearanced, and are there any thoughts on the most likely bargains? Quote
AudiBobaR5-D2 Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Which is better? 8039 or 75055? Not sure which one to go for in terms of interior space etc. Quote
BJM Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Here's a better pic of how they were done. AC AC - you are a master builder and a very funny one too. This pic summarises the hobby for me in one shot. Well done. Quote
karmajay Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 I was at the Lego store and they had a displayed 75087 (Anakin's custom ship). It looks good but what the heck are those "engines/turbines" on the front? IMO, it just detracts from the design. Any one else feel the same? Quote

They're just from the source material: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Azure_Angel I take it that's why it's a custom Jedi starfighter rather than a stock one. Quote
Tariq j Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 AudiBoba: Personally, I would go for 75055, I think the figure range is stronger and the interior is better and more spacious than 8039. The interior for 8039 has lots of gaps and isn't as big as 75055, hope that helps. Quote

Cjd223 Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 So I've begun bricklinking a 10030 in Light Bluish Gray and I have everything ordered for $570 but I still need 12 of the magnet holders (doesnt have to be tan). Any help on how to do this inexpensively? Quote
