Junior Shark Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I have just discovered the fun of collecting Lego again! Is the Stormtrooper Sergeant minifig polybag still around, or is that the sort of thing I'll have to find via a reseller or trade? My local TRU has dozens of the red-armed 3PO polybags, but no Stormtrooper Sergeant. Same here. You'll probably have to resort to resellers or trade. Quote

Raj_UK Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) hi everyone I wondered if there's anyone in the UK who'd offer the service to basically post me a complete bricklinked 10179 (with the usual cheapskate substitutions) if you'd be up for doing this could you reply to this thread to how much it would be posted to me (I'm in Reading if you happen to be local and I could collect) even better if you have access to a colour duplex printer and you could print and bind the pdf instructions since I'd hate to build this from my laptop ... LOL :) cheers Raj ps. edit : if it makes it more viable for whomever does it ... a friend of mine said he'd be up for one too ... so we'd like 2 sets plz :) Edited December 29, 2015 by Raj_UK Quote
Andy D Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) This is a joke, right? I must have missed something, where is the inspiration for this joke? Thanks, Happy New Year, Andy D Edited December 29, 2015 by Andy D Quote
Hold0511 Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Hi Raj, sorry can I clarify are you asking for someone to provide you with in effect a complete bricklinked 10179 'kit' ready for you to build plus hardcopy instructions? are you expecting to pay a markup for the effort of doing this or asking for someone to provide you at cost plus postage? Raj_UK Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) I'll pay whatever is a fair price in addition to the Lego parts itself ... actually a couple of my friends are now interested so it would be 3 sets ... I guess it might get to a point where I should just do it myself and just split the shipping for the various parts orders between the three of us But if there's someone who'd be willing to do this then just let me know a price for 3 sets of bricklinked 10179's and we'll go from there and no Andy ... not a joke ... cold hard cash waiting :) edit : I started looking into this earlier in the year ... got to making a spreadsheet with the parts and quantities but gave up once I started seeing that not all the parts were available new from Lego pick and brick / bricks and pieces ... and that I assumed there'd be a cheaper way if I buy parts in bulk from non lego group websites ... if there's anyone in the who done a whole 10179 from scratch and still has their order lists then it should be easier for them to do it and we're ok to pay a fair premium for the privilege Edited December 29, 2015 by Raj_UK Quote
Lobot Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Hi, If you're looking to buy a Bricklinked version, have you tried Ebay? They're regularly advertised, and with a bit of luck you should be able to find one at around £8-900. I've Bricklinked a couple in the last few years and if you're looking for a relatively accurate one, using new parts, it would be in the region of £650 so if you're happy to pay for someone's time, you're likely to end up being in a similar price range to Ebay. If you're seriously interested I'd totally recommend sourcing it all yourself, it's a great challenge! There's several threads here on Eurobricks, and if you a standard Google search you'll find a wealth of other information available. My on reservation is that you may run into problems finding sufficient parts if you're going to attempt 3 at once (15,000 parts are a lot!) and some you'll need are relatively rare... For future reference there's a Q&A thread pinned to the top of this forum; I'll merge this with it in a bit Quote
Flieger Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Since there won't be an official minifig of him for some time... how to do Lor San Tekka? What head, what torso...? Quote

Lobot Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Here's a thread that you may find useful (link) I'm almost tempted to offer to do this for you.....! To minimise the cost you'll need to use a combination of Bricklink, and the two LEGO ordering services 'Pick a Brick' and 'Bricks and Pieces'. Unfortunately the latter is currently closed and probably won't be open again until the end of January based on the last couple of years (it isn't currently shown on the link I included!). I'd strongly recommend that you check each part on both LEGO sites as the price will vary in some instances. Generally speaking though, small elements (technic pins, greebling parts etc) are far cheaper on Bricklink if you want to start immediately, but tiles and larger plates will be cheaper via LEGO. If you look at the thread I wrote, it includes details of the parts I ordered from them. You should also bear in mind that LEGO has a flat-rate postal charge, so if you order heavier parts from Bricklink the postage can become prohibitive, especially from abroad (even if they are a little cheaper than from LEGO!). If you haven't already found a parts list, there's one on Bricklink (here) which you can copy directly into Excel. Quote
pittpenguin123 Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 to any one who keeps saying why do the rebels storm troopers have that frown. they are based off a difent type of storm trooper. IRL they where just stunt doubles that had a big frown in the movie. they based the rebels design off of the stunt double to say that like phase 2 armor. the stunt double was slightly older armor and by the time of anh not every storm trooper upgraded yet. see here http://www.starwarshelmets.com/original-stormtrooper-comparisons.htm Quote
StarWars8Spoiler Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Does anyone know where I can get 75105 on Amazon for its regular, $150 price tag? Everywhere I look it's (for some odd reason) grossly overpriced compared to retail. Quote
benjiv1 Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 I'm sure this has been covered before, but I couldn't see anything recent... Does anyone have a good suggestion on a way to display some of my sets? I got a bunch of the Force Awakens sets for Christmas, but I'm having difficulty finding a nice way to display them in my man cave. As I'm typing this, I just thought, maybe floating shelves, with some fishing line? Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated! Quote

Floating shelves work great, I have these http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70103622/ and they work great for individually displaying UCS set. Just make sure you have them anchored to the wall Quote
Sir Gareth Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 (edited) Were Resistance Troopers on the ground fighting during the Battle of Takodana? I can't remember. Edited January 1, 2016 by Sir Gareth Quote
Flieger Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Were Resistance Troopers on the ground fighting during the Battle of Takodana? I can't remember. Hard to tell. I think we only saw Leia's transport landing and by that time the Stormtroopers had pretty much retreated. So I would say no, considering it was the only transport on screen in the whole movie (iirc) Quote
ShrikeArghast Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I have the money to get one Star Wars Lego set for the foreseeable future: which should I get? The Star Destroyer or the First Order Transport? I see significant advantages and disadvantages to both. Quote

Only Sinner Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Well, this doesn't really need it's own thread, but Bricklink would be your best bet, and ebay sometimes has a good deal, too. Just depends on which sets you want, really. Quote
Only Sinner Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Depends if you want First Order or Imperials. I have both right next to each other and the ISD makes a much nicer display piece for sure. Quote
