Brickdoctor Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Maybe it has to do with the series CW is currently in. Since CW is still in series 3, they haven't changed the art. Hmm. Actually, these sets are to be released in June, not the normal August, right? June is much closer to the end of Series 3 than the start of Season 4, so maybe Licensing has a specific time schedule where sets released at a certain time must have a certain box art. You may have hit on something there, prateek. Quote
Masked Builder Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I was just wondering, why isn't there a new box skin design for the 2011 sets? Has anyone heard any news about it? It's just in the past three years we have seen three different SW (CW) box design each year so I was kinda expecting to see one this year. I've noticed that the box art seems to change every two or three releases. Granted that this is the best box art in a long time so I hope it doesn't change to soon. Now on the topic of Lucas arts having all of the Star Wars merchandise I haven't really been paying attention but I think it's around the same art. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 Now on the topic of Lucas arts having all of the Star Wars merchandise I haven't really been paying attention but I think it's around the same art. Yup I believe it's the same for all SW merchandise, like what I've seen with the Hasbro products and other miscellaneous stuff. Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Well, the 'speeder' is most likely the one that was in last week's Clone Wars episode, so since it is in Season 3...it only makes sense to keep the box art. But then again, they are prelims, so anything is possible. Quote
Skafte Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Sorry if this hs been asked/replied to before, but I distinctly remember someone here mentioning that they found the new 2010 Luke head in a 6212 X-wing set. Is this true - are there more sightings of this? It is not listed on BL, but it should - since the Han Solo version is! Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Mine has the old Luke (young Obi-Wan) but new pupiled Han. Quote
Ritz Brick Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I got the new Luke head and new Han head in my 6212. Quote
Blackknight112 Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I got the new Luke head and new Han head in my 6212. Same, but does it mean this set will be in production for some more time? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Same, but does it mean this set will be in production for some more time? Yes. KimT said last time he went to Billund, they had stacks of the boxes lying around waiting for polybags. So evidently that set's gonna be on the shelves for another year or two. Quote
Skafte Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Would either of you please add it to Bricklink? I could do it, but they say you shouldn't list stuff you don't own. Quote
autobrick Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 (edited) What are the odds of Lego re-releasing another Republic Gunship (LAAT) in the next couple of years? It is one of my favourite ships from the prequel trilogy but I missed out on 7676 due to my dark ages. Also, I know this is a probably not the best place to ask, but would you guys recommend watching the Clone Wars TV series? I am interested in knowing what happened between Episoeds II & III, but I find the animation style to be a turn-off (although it looks better than the 2003 series). There is a part of me that feels like it is just a cash-in by George Lucas (no offence to CW fans). Edited January 30, 2011 by autobrick Quote
Churchill Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Bringing up CW will generate some heated responses, so I'll get mine in before it gets ugly... Give CW a chance. At first, I didn't like the animation, either, but I've realized it's just the shapes of the characters I don't like, beyond that (ships, environments, effects) it's great. It will help provide more background for you, though some are going to argue if it's really "canon" or just more things that need a retcon. Give it a chance... it is SW, after all. If you don't like it, that's ok. I'd love to see the gunship too, since I missed it as well. It would be a third version, though (right...?) so I'm not sure if we'll see it. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 If it isn't released in 2012 (10th Anniversary of AotC), I doubt the RGS will be seen anytime soon. As for CW, I too say give it a chance. I personally am not crazy about it, but if you decide you like it that's fine. The things most people don't like is the irrealistic amount of new vehicles and Republic victories, the fact that there's no emotion to the point that it almost doesn't seem like there's a war going on, and the way it destroys existing stories and timelines, bu if you're okay with those things, it's some more Star Wars to watch. Each episode is what, 20 minutes? - Watch some and see if you like them. Personally I find it a bit hit and miss, but I really liked the '03 series. There's discussion on it here. Quote

There is a part of me that feels like it is just a cash-in by George Lucas (no offence to CW fans). It's been three years, so I don't see why not. By the way, it's LAAT/i, for "Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry". It's not to be confused with the LAAT/c, which was released in that $250 set with the AT-OT. It's "THE" Clone Wars, not just "Clone Wars". Big difference. I've already expressed my opinion of the '08 series multiple times, so I suggest you read this thread and decide for yourself. If you're really interested in what happens between Episodes II and III there are the Republic comics and others which are compiled in Clone Wars Volumes 1-9 by Dark Horse which depict what really happened between Episodes II and III (which the new TV series does not do, but enough.) Churchill Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 For the first time tonight, I noticed the Aurebesh writing on the side of Luke's x-wing in ESB. When he's lifting off from Hoth. It's the same kind of placement on the snowspeeders (I only have Zev's version to compare) which says "rogue two." Has anyone else noticed this, or have a still/close up? Maybe once the blu ray version comes out, it will be easier to see. I'm sure it's just Luke's designation, I just never noticed it before... Quote

It's really faint and nearly the same grey, maybe that's why. I see the 'ZZ', but I can't make anything else out. Most likely it's gibberish, as the Aurebesh language wasn't fully developed until the release of the Special Editions. (AnH, for example, uses Roman characters) On another note, I was using the Step Frame function of DVD Player, and on the first frame after the that shot in question (with Luke flying away with the planet in the background), there's a huge green stain in the top right corner. (that's probably original theatrical version, though, if you're trying to find it on the recent DVDs) Quote
Churchill Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Well, guess we'll have to see if FallenAngel puts that on his latest xwing. If not, it's not accurate, I guess. I was thinking that one of the good things that could come of out on OT MOC database would be a good way for us to come to a consensus on the best way to do some things. For example, until a better x-wing comes out, what some options for modifications are, or links to what others have tried. I know everyone would have their own opinions, but you could have in one place, for example, several examples of x-wings. Quote
Churchill Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I looked in the reviews at the older snowspeeders... so is Zev's Rogue Two the only Lego set with Aurebesh on it? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I looked in the reviews at the older snowspeeders... so is Zev's Rogue Two the only Lego set with Aurebesh on it? Think so. The other one's didn't have stickered cockpits. Although I see the ZZ on the pics of UCS one, but not sure if the Aurebesh is printed on that. Quote

Well at the moment I'm not using any full-size mockups for reference (only the 1/24 miniatures used in the Death Star sequence) so that won't be happening... I think that the MOC Index already does a pretty good job of that (though it looks like it needs an update ). No Aurebesh on 10129, according to this. Quote
The Legonater Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I looked in the reviews at the older snowspeeders... so is Zev's Rogue Two the only Lego set with Aurebesh on it? The only speeder, but not the only set- if nothing else, the new LAAT/i and LAAT/c have Aurebesh writing. Also, the in-universe explanation for English lettering is something like 'High Galactic Basic' used only by high-ranking officials. Quote

prateek Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Does the black protocol droid in the Death Star Playset have a specific name? Was it even in the movies? Quote
