I have been getting more and more interested in trying to collect or build the SW mini kits. Especially the Clonewars kits. Thanks to playing Lego SW III haha. I found out that SDCC had an exclusive Mini Dropship. I could not find instructions anywhere. I plan to reverse engineer some pics I found of the finished product but does anyone know where I can get scans of the instructions? I attached a pic I found on brickshelf. It shows one side of the instructions.

Here you go. This is only for the dropship though.

Thanks so much!!!! I just finished my reverse engineered version. I had to sort of make educated guesses as to the back side of the instructions but I think I got pretty close.

I see the Death Star came out in 2008, I have decided to pick it up on black friday or sooner (hoping for double points day), think it will still be in production up to the end of the year?

Buy one now, but keep it in the box. If you find another one for cheaper, sell the other one later for a big profit :sweet:

Thanks I will do that for sure not risking it, (and on May 3rd or fourth)

Hello all,

i recently got into LEGO SW and stumbled across these outstanding boards (i especially love the reviews). Considering to collect some sets on memorable scenes from the movies i wonder if there will be another Star Destroyer in say, 2012. We had one in 2006, one in 2009 (the Venator) and next year might be the right time to have another full set. Anyone got rumors or proofs on that?

There will only be a SD this year if it is a UCS, as yet we have no news only rumors of the 2012 sets. It wont be a systems scale, as all this years have been announced. A midi Venator is possible, as this years Midis haven't been announced yet.

That doesn't mean it won't come, and 2012 sets have not been confirmed, but I doubt we'll get one. Imperial and Venator are the two main types, and I don't think they're the type of sets that will be remade at this time.

My guess is that those two will correspond with their 3D release, like the 90 dollar podracers. TLG wants to make the 3D mega-set a memorable one. The pods are some of the finest models TLG has ever produced IMO. I hope to see a similar trend in the future. The ISD will likely come with the ANH release, and the Venator with ROTS.

That sounds reasonable. What are the schedules for the 3D show releases? One per year? If so - we will be happy if TLC keeps up the license long enough to make special sets for each film...

Umm, since the Imperial-class SD is such overpriced by now - might a Venator do for a Victory-class SD? Leaving out the red pieces off the hull might let it appear as one. One would only have to accept the odd minifigs and replace them.

Uh, no. The Victory only has one bridge, no dorsal hangar, and no insets on the sides.

Yeah, it's more angular, the section that leads up to the bridge has various levels, the sides thicken out where the Venator insets ect...

It's a totally different ship.

Luckily I have a System Star Destroyer and the midi scale. Im thinking of getting a Venator playset. However I want hangers to open like I saw in the Lego SW III game.

I am a little confused as to the set up of the Venator. The top hull splits down the middle to open up and let lout squadrons. However there is a side hanger door and a hanger underneath like in the Star Destroyer. Do the side and under entrance let into the main hanger that the top hull opens to? Basically do all entrances lead to the same place? I dont see there being much room for anything else.

Their are 4 major hangars on the Venator . The largest is below the dark red doors. That's called the dorsal hangar, most shipts, walkers, and troops are stored there. The other one is on the bottom. The Venator has a similar underside hangar bay to the one seen in the start of ANH. The other two are located on either side closest to the center of the ship. These are two separate hangars, they're designed for fast deployment of gunships and starfighters, yet yield limited space. All in all 4 hangars, all different ones :sweet:

The Dorsal hanger is used to launch fighters for space engagements, the ventral hanger is to place dropships, and gunships onto the surface, and the side hangers are for supplies, emergency access, escaping and pretty much everything else.

Yes, agreed of course. However, we lack capital ships for the Empire yet. The ISD of 2006 is absolutely overpriced today. 300+ bucks is unacceptable to me. So my idea was just to use the Venator as kind of a replacement. The Victory-class SD is an EU starship and as such, quite a few of different visual iterations do exist. The Venator might even look better without the CW markings. Just my 2 cents.

The non red Venator would be an easy mod, a better way of making LDD and place an order with TLC.

Actually, according to this cross-section, the side hangars weren't really used to deploy vehicles, but merely to "dock with space stations, mooring towers, and larger starships, for the purpose of transferring troops and materials," so only the hangar bay doors on the top and bottom lead to the main hangar.

The Phantom Menace is supposed to come out next year, February 12th. And I assume they will be released every year.

In TCW ships are deployed from the sides, the hangar on the bottom doesn't appear to be linked to the dorsal hangar(If a ship landed on the lower hangar the pilot couldn't get to Dorsal bay). As it is a cross section pic, it's tough to tell what's cutaway, and what's an actual gap.

Which doesn't mean that the side hangars can't dock with stations. 'Course, I'd be more willing to trust CW than the DK books.

Excuse me, what does LDD stand for?
