Brickdoctor Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Umm, i'm considering to get a TIE-Defender. For modification/display purposes: Is ist possible to change the wing design that the ship looks like a TIE-Interceptor (fixed, opposing solar panels) with the parts of the set or is it necessary to add parts from other sets? Based on the fact that the wings are attached to a triangular hub, I'd say you'd need pieces from other sets. But I don't own this set so I'm not sure. And just as we are at it: Looking at Palpy's shuttle it seems as if the wing design - with a little reconfiguration on top and sides - could be changed so the ship looks roughly like a Lambda-shuttle. Is this assumption correct? I don't own this one either, but I can already tell you that a Theta cannot be converted into a Lambda. Or at least not with a complete rebuild from the ground up. Really, the basic design is the only thing they share. And even then, you'd end up with a grey Lambda. Quote

Is this assumption correct? Depends how roughly you want it. A non-Star Wars fan probably wouldn't know the difference, but if a Star Wars fan happens to see it, it would be quite embarrassing for you. The same goes for the TIE. And for that matter, you can't convert a Theta into a Lambda; to assume so is a gross simplification. It would be like that guy who asked whether you could pass off a Venator as a Victory cruiser. Fallenangel Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Sorry for the double post, but... can anyone identify this ship? What about this? Quote

Darman, right? And there was a novel I remember reading about an ARC who deserted and had a son with a native. Title escapes me at the moment. Edited April 17, 2011 by Brickdoctor Quote

And an episode of The Clone Wars... called Deserter if I recall correctly. (Probably not..!) His wife was Twi'lek, and the 2 kids were somewhere in between. Although since this subject has nothing to do with Lego, it should probably be in the general Star Wars topic in the Community section. Last I heard, Lego couldn't reproduce... Those were just ideas to get substitute models and modify them to fit the needs. The older TIE models have a bad colour scheme while the Defender does finally fit the bill. It only is an EU object... As for the shuttle - the older ones are way out of value and the UCS is it, either. I prefer models with an interior as said in a different post. Uh, i am surprised about this. According to the official canon only very few races in the SW universe can interbreed. A mix of Twi'Leks and humans is entirely new to me and certainly a renunciation from what SW has always been. Quote

I doubt you'll be able to get very far with either of those sets in the way of modification. The best thing to do would be to start from scratch - if not with real bricks, at least with a CAD program. Uh, i am surprised about this. According to the official canon only very few races in the SW universe can interbreed. A mix of Twi'Leks and humans is entirely new to me and certainly a renunciation from what SW has always been. Why? There are interracial relationships in Star Wars all the time; Off the top of my head I can remember human-Bothan relationships in the X-wing books as well as the fact that Jabba and Xizor are attracted to human females. Of course, the term 'official canon' is highly ambiguous... Quote

Of course, the term 'official canon' is highly ambiguous... Well, i do not want to delve deep into a topic that probably is forbidden on these boards but it is pretty safe to say that there is a huge difference between a soacial relationship and the ability of actually having kids together... Interbreeding apart from near-humans was ruled out in the past. Apparently this stance of the SW creators might be subject to change. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Hybrid Quote
EverettYA Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 (edited) Hi, I didn't see this question posted here yet so, I ask; Is the 10188 Death Star better as a Display Model or as a Parts pack? I am torn because it is designed to be a play model (hence the 24 minifigs) yet I don't play with my Lego sets. Thanks, EverettYA Edited April 17, 2011 by EverettYA Quote

I remember reading somewhere than any Hutt romances are not for reproductive purposes. Thanks, EverettYA As an MOCer, I definitely thing that 10188 is a parts pack, because no matter how big it might be, it's still a System playset that isn't really extremely detailed or accurate to my standards. At the very lease, I personally would heavily mod it before displaying. But that's just me. Why is they no longer a dividing line between the pinned topics and the others? I have chosen to make it a parts pack because, like Brickdoctor suggested, I was going to MOD but I have to decided it would be a waste of my parts. EverettYA Quote

True, but I only have a small number of parts to use and I would rather see those parts go to something else, such as a MOC that I can call my own rather than an improved System Set. EverettYA In that case, I definitely agree with you. Obviously 10188 will significantly increase the amount of pieces in your collection if you have a small number of parts. Not to say that modding doesn't have it's own rewards. Quote

Ritz Brick Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Being on the topic of 10188, if I bought it, I'd like to be able to attatch plates on the outside so it would be like a smaller version of 10143. Anyone have any ideas how? Quote
Ritz Brick Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Perhaps something like this? K, thanks. I remember seeing soemthing like that but I had no idea where to find it. Quote
