Brickadeer Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Well, i tried it and it didn't work for me. The box (new) corner did seriously heat up and the sticker blackended out. Although i almost burned my fingers, the sticker could not be removed any easier. It stuck just like in normal condition. I then stopped the experiment before the box itself blackened and would deformate. Success might depend on whether the sticker was just placed and the glue has not yet resulted in any reaction between box and sticker. I better move to only ordering from online stores exclusively... I'm sorry to hear that. I see that you are from Germany. Where did you buy the set? Quote
Ki-Adi-Mundi Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Lighter fluid is good. Squirt all over the sticker, allow to soak in for a short while and it should melt the adhesive. I wouldn't want to guarantee that it won't stain the box but it's never stained anything I've used it on and it evaporates quite quickly. It's also good for cleaning off the sticky residue left by stickers, soak into a cloth and rub off. Appears to be a sound solution. I'll try that. Thanks for the advice. I'm sorry to hear that. I see that you are from Germany. Where did you buy the set? Galeria Kaufhof. They just had some nice sale and i bought quite some stuff there. Sadly their price stickers are extremely sticky... Off course i would love to get rid of the stickers on other boxes i own for some time already. Ich werde es mal mit Reinigungsbenzin versuchen. Regards, K-A-M Quote
Kaitan Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 I work in a bookshop, and sometimes we need to remove sticky residue from the books left by price/special offer stickers. We use spray furniture polish - spray it on the sticker, leave for a couple of seconds, wipe/pick off what you can and repeat as needed. We ONLY use this on books with shiny covers, I've never tried it on a Lego box - but if you are willing to risk it, it's just a suggestion. Kaitan Quote
Lord Of The Fries Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 May I ask why C-3P0 in the Lego S@H Death Star picture has flesh coloured hands? Here's a picture for someone to investigate : Thanks to anyone who can answer this for me. Quote

During filming, any time a part of Threepio’s body wouldn’t have been visible on screen, the unseen plating wasn’t worn by the actor. This could possibly be a reference to that. The other, more obvious explanation is lighting. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 The other, more obvious explanation is lighting. No, actually, during the couple of years between transition from the Light Pearl Gold Threepio to the Pearl Gold Threepio, there were minifigs in Pearl Gold with LIght Pearl Gold hands. I always assumed TLG had some trouble getting the hands molded in the new color, or had a good amount of the old hands left over. Quote
Oky Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I've been wondering: TLG always addresses Leia as Princess Leia, even in sets that are set after Episode IV, but didn't Leia loose her princess status when Alderaan got blown up? Quote

I think it'd be to confusing for the little kiddies getting the sets to keep track. Although Alderaan was destroyed there were still survivors (though you have to investigate the EU to discover them) - she still has 'subjects' therefore she's still a princess. (its a theory anyway...) A more 'down to earth' theory is that she is referrred to as princess throughout the OT - TLG are just following the original material... for a change... Kaitan Quote

My 10188 Death Star came on Friday and when I opened it the Lightsaber hilts are that new colour (I think it's called metallic silver). I'm very disapointed because I wanted 3 more chromies . I also noticed that both my Han Solo minifigs sport the new Han head. BTW I built it in 11 hours and 28 minutes . If anyone could answer my 2 questions that would be awesome! I didn't see anything in your post phrased as a question, let alone two questions. I'll assume you're wondering about the metallic silver lightsaber hilts, and the inclusion of the Han head w/ pupils... The lightsabers have been the metallic silver color for some time now. There are notable exceptions however, such as 10212 which did include two silver hilts. I'm not sure of the reason for the change, but my guess would be cost efficiency by not chroming all of those hilts. As for the inclusion of the new Han head w/ pupils, the only reason I can think of is that TLG began putting them in as production went on. 10188 was released right before the SW line made the switch to the new style of heads, so they were probably just switched in at some point. cavegod Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 What colours does it come in as i hae one that is not listed on bricklink it's king of a milky gray... Quote
Brickdoctor Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Is it a chrome hilt with all the chrome rubbed off? I've heard of people finding strangely colored pieces when the chrome wears away. Quote
cavegod Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 it's possible there is no trace of chrome on it. Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I got the Republic Shuttle when it came out in 2009, and I can confirm that this is one with all the chrome rubbed off. I tore apart the Shuttle and threw all the pieces, including Mace, into a bin. A few weeks ago I found Mace, but all the chrome had rubbed of the hilt of his lightsaber. There is no chrome left and it is a milky grey color. This is probably what you have Cavegod, but even if it is, you can sell it on Ebay as a custom colored piece. Quote
Lobot Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Has anyone tried to build 10123 Cloud City from scratch? If so, does anyone have any idea what it cost to build? I'm not worried about the minifigures, I just want a copy of the actual set! I've spent an hour sorting through my spares tonight and found 137 of the 698 required parts (19.63%!). I had a quick look on the Lego site & they have most of the basic parts I need either via the 'Pick a brick' or replacement service, but there are several larger ones not listed (inc the larger rounded base plates & the column that forms the main structure for the carbonite chamber)...is it possible to source these without spending a fortune? Any advice would be really appreciated Quote

Are you sure yours isn't Metallic/Pearl Silver? 2009 was well after the time when chrome hilts were discontinued. (other than curved hilts)By the way, why isn't this in General Questions? Quote

Darth Nihilus Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 (edited) wait. You threw a lego set in a bin? why? I threw it in a bin seperate from the rest of my pieces. I would never put my SW sets in a bin with pieces from other themes! And the reason I still have bins is that I threw my pieces in there when I was 14 or so and I just found the pieces in my basement. I am too lazy to sort them out now though. Mostly KK2 in that bin, I plan to sort it out one of these days and put it in my LEGO filing system with all my newer sets bought for pieces. But I'm still too lazy and too busy to do it at the moment. Edited October 21, 2011 by darthnihilius Quote
Ki-Adi-Mundi Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Hello everyone. Now we seem to know what lies ahead of us. Big thanks for the pics that put the USPs into the right place. Well, from your experience - when can we expect the winter wave sets to become available online and in stores respectively? I'd like to set up a cunning scheme to make sure i can get the goodies in time. Quote

I realized that practically none of these figures had not at least minor misprints, and that the helmet was more often affected then the torso. Do you experience this problem as well? Do you even consider it as a problem or as normal, as "how things are"? Or is it just me who gets all the minifigs with minor misprints? Quote
Mr Man Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 This should probably be in general questions. After looking at my small collection of minifigs I can see none with a printing problem, except the clone trooper eyes issue. If I had any misprints It adds some variety to the line up I think. Quote
