Another question: Does anyone have any experience assembling old sets by ordering individual parts from bricklink (piecemeal)? I'm thinking of doing that for the 8038 AT-ST and the 7264 Imperial Shuttle. Based on my research it will be much less expensive for these two examples, but I'm curious to see if anyone else has tried it for other sets and what their experiences have been.

I have no idea about the logic behind it. The patterns of Cody's leg printing is the same as the pattern of the Horn Company Troopers. Lego gave them printed legs, but not Cody.

Now that more and more minifigures are being made with leg printing, I'm sure a lot of the older minifigs will receive updates over the next 10 years.

Visors in colors other that grey and black are being made now. Perhaps Cody will have leg-print and an orange visor next time TLG puts him into set.

Well...seems like a solid guess to me :classic:

I've done this with several expensive sets like the Market Street and the Cafe Corner, where I have saved lots of money going so. With the models you mentioned there should be room to save as well, since Star Wars sets command high prices due to the minifigures, especially on the secondary market, and models and parts themselves are not as sought-after. I'd say look for sets that have been split as well, where sellers are selling each model separately or have removed the minifigs, as there could be lots of savings that way.

It's actually a good bit different but, they do work as a nice substitute.

Well, I mean the pattern (not the colour) of the Horn Company troopers' legs, not the pattern of the Bomb Squad troopers' :classic:

Does anyone know if the the Dropship (set 10195) is compatible with the Turbo Tank (set 8098)? If so, can anyone explain to me the general mechanism how vehicles are attached to the dropship, and why they keep attached to the dropship? I don't understand it :sceptic: Thanks.

edit:

Due to this picture/comments, it works. That leaves me with the question how the mechanism functions precisely. If anyone feels inclined to explain it to me I'd be very gratefull :classic:

It attaches onto the handle on the Tank. See page 26 here. You push that bar into the handle on the vehicle you want to pick up and then pull it back when you want to release it.

Next question:

Does anyone have/can get more pictures of this AT-AT?

Dumb question, I forgot that google is my friend...

Here, I found a foto stream.

Hi everyone!

Why are there two different boxes for the 10188 DS?

One says age "12+" and one says age "14+". I noticed that on the lego web page the box in the picture has "12+" and the description says for 14+.

The box I just received :-) says "14+".

As far as I know, there has not been any kind of design change in the actual set other than the change of minifigure eyes, so it's not due to the set being different. The set has gone though several packaging changes in it's 4 year lifespan though, the first sets had boxes with geometric shapes identifying them, and no numbered bags, while later batches had numbered boxes and bags.

However, those earlier copies are the ones labeled 12+ and the newer ones are 14+, despite being easier to build. I find it likely that Lego has changed their age recommendations slightly recently, as the 2012 City sets have simpler instructions than in the past, while retaining the same age recommendations, and I'd expect that to be the case across the product line.

Other than the size, I'd say there is nothing in the Death Star set warranting this increase in recommended age, most of the build is simple brick on brick building, and nothing really exceeds the difficulty of a standard large 8-12 yr. Star Wars/ City/ Ninjago etc. set.

Thanks fyr! 12+ is earlier and 14+ newer, I understand. So I guess since mine says 14+ it's the newer type and has the numbered bags.

Obviously I haven't opened it yet. I got it at very good price and seeing that all European amazon stores seem to have run out of them (only third party offers), I'm torn between building it and keeping it sealed ...

I have a quick question regarding a particular piece of lego... I'm trying to find out what the piece is called that looks kinda like a Lego spanner, but the handle is much shorter, the semi circle clip bit is symmetrical and is often used as something that can grip something like a lightsaber blade thickness pole...

Any answers?

Often a set review will indicate the number of bags for a set. I used this to verify the contents of my Grand Carousel that was very damaged. The following is a review for 10212:

http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=45909

The reviewer does not explicitly mention the number of bags, but in the fifth picture you can see all the bags laid out on the table. I counted 24 bags in the photo, which means your set is probably complete. Hope this helps.

Hi, I've just checked mine (purchased new from Lego) & it has 24 bags. It should weigh 4009 grams (including the box & instructions!). The wings are a bit repetative to build, but the finished result is well worth it!

Cheers, Robin :classic:

The other day I finally purchased the LEGO Juggernaut (or Turbo Tank) and noticed Ashoka had a differant print than that in the AT-TE. Was this print originally in the Juggernaut, or is it a new one, potentially for the Season 3 Ashoka?
