S.I Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Some of my oldish white pieces seem to yellow with age, too. The should use Crest white stripes . I know it happens with age, but I opened the box two days ago and they came out off color, my 10 year old discovery shuttle looks better than the worst new pieces. (Although there are only a few really bad ones) Quote
HJR-Holland Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Two questions: I have been building the imperial shuttle, and some of the types of white parts seem a bit yellowish, has anyone else had that? And does the nonUCS tie advanced (so darth vader's from ep 6) match the new tie fighters in size? Yes, mine had some colour variation between parts as well (and not even different parts, but similar parts in various shades of white). Quote
DFOL Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Two questions: I have been building the imperial shuttle, and some of the types of white parts seem a bit yellowish, has anyone else had that? And does the nonUCS tie advanced (so darth vader's from ep 6) match the new tie fighters in size? The answer to your first question is yes. I noticed while building the UCS Imperial Shuttle that there were subtle but quite noticeable color differences in the white pieces. Some pieces seemed almost a little opaque whereas others appeared more solid. In the finished model the differences weren't all that noticeable so i wasn't bothered enough to complain about it. But i did cause me to raise an eyebrow, quality control definately did a poor job here. As for the answer to your second question, the system scaled Vader's TIE Advanced from episode 4 matches up with the new TIE Fighter in certain areas, but differs in other areas. Do they match in size? Pretty well i'd say. And they also share the same color scheme. But they have very different styling in cockpit piece and side panel design. So do they go well together all things considered? For me personally, the differences in design do matter, but i think you will have to decide for yourself. Quote
DFOL Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 We all know that Star Wars LEGO is expensive, and for various reasons there are huge regional differences in prices as well. However, with the new summerwave of sets i had the impression that they were extraordinarely expensive, even more so than usual. So i commented on the new sets accordingly. When price became yet again the subject of a discussion in one of the new product reviews, i set out to prove the supposed mark up in retail prices by comparing this years sets to last years sets. I have to admit, i was surprised by the results to say the least and thought it would be interesting to share them with you. For comparison i added not just the normal price per part ratio, but also took the number of minifigs into consideration. Not knowing the official value of a minifig, i added columns for compensating for the value of 1 euro per minifig, 2 euro per minifig and 3 euro per minifig. I used the Dutch prices in Euro, so the results may vary for other countries and currencies. However i don't think that will influence the overall conclusion all that much: among individual sets there are good deals and (rather) bad deals, but on average the price per piece ratio has remained pretty much constant over the past few years. I for one won't be so quick to be judgemental about prices again before i check the facts. Quote
Tontus Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 I'd be interested in seeing how the numbers compare going a bit farther back than just last year. Last year was overpriced as well, so they should line up with this year. I'm just not interested enough to do it myself. Either way, it won't affect my purchasing at all. Use a little patience, wait for a sale, and still pay too much. Quote
Vindicare Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Can anyone tell me the piece counts for each vehicle in 10195? I have them sorted separately in bags but bought some plastic containers. I wanna make sure they'll fit before I dump them out of the bags. Quote
Admiral-Ackbar Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Wow! Who knew that the prices came to the same average? Its a conspiracy! I'm sure if the prices of individual minifigures and even pieces (if you were realy sad) were accunted for, sets like Jabbas Palace would balance out a lot more! Anyway, I may do the same but using pounds. Maybe. Thanks for the chart, DFOL! Quote

Bob De Quatre Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Wanted to come out of my 15 years dark age by buying the imperial v-wing, so I checked to prices in the US and FR lego website... On the US site, the v-wing cost 19,99$, so approximately 16,50€... On the FR site, the v-wing cost 29,90€, so approximately the right amount to make you feel ripped of... Do EU lego fan know a way to buy lego a little cheaper? Quote

Check out google for online stores; there are plenty of them in France, and can supply LEGO at more reasonable prices than what's available at TRU or the big retail chains.. Quote

Hartfan Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I need help here. I have 15 different magnet set. I'm not sure which ones are glued and which ones are loose. Im posting picture and I hope someone can help me with this matter. Quote
purpleparadox Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 It really depends when you bought each magnet set. I seem to recall my brother buying the magnets on the far right (Boba Fett, Imperial Guard, Slave Leia) and they were not glued. I think it just depends if you bought it before or after TLG started gluing magnets, which was 2011, if I remember correctly. Quote
sok117 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I think all the ones on white backgrounds are not glued, but that could have changed. Quote
The_Box Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 It should also say on the back of the packages if the contents are glued. Quote

Im posting picture and I hope someone can help me with this matter. The last time I asked this while in a Lego store, the employee told me that all the white packaged ones were not glued. The blue packaged ones are glued and the white packaged ones are being cycled out - basically once a store sells out, that's it for the white packaged ones. Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Any thoughts on what price 10188 will reach once it hits EOL? Certainly not as much as the UCS falcon right???? Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Any thoughts on what price 10188 will reach once it hits EOL? Certainly not as much as the UCS falcon right???? Doubtful. I think LEGO learned their lesson somewhat after seeing the demand for 10179 was still high after it was discontinued, hence the reason 10188 has been available for so long. And I know many collectors who have purchased as many as 8-9 extra Death Stars to sell in the future, so I don't foresee there being a drastic shortage once the set is retired. Quote
apps Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Either way don't expect any bargains once it's out of production. Quote
SheepEater Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) Has there ever been any MOC made about scenes from the Star Wars Holiday Special (1978) film? Yes, the Star Wars Holiday Special, the actual SECOND Star Wars movie, the movie that Lucas and 99.99% of every Star Wars fan in existence tried to erase from history! ... But it's on youtube now!
