I hope those 'quality problems' (did he/she mean quantity?) problems don't turn up in sets to be released

The Lego Customer Service woman most definitely told me that there were "quality" problems.

You called the US department, I guess. Do you want me to call Billund? Not being snarky, just helpfull

(Well, not now, even Billund bots have to sleep and it's half past midnight here .. )

Cheers,

Ole

Yes, by all means, call your Lego Customer Service in Denmark. If you find out something more, be sure to let us know. Perhaps you can find out the nature of their "quality" problem (poor fit-and-finish, poor motor performance, strange noises, or whatever)....

If it's a quality control issue, then I'm glad the motors aren't available yet. I'd be a bit upset if I bought 4 servo motors that I need only to find out they don't work properly.

It's nice to see LEGO makes an effort to stand by the quality of their product and are not willing to sell junk.

If you got specific questions, pm me. I got a few numbers I can call :sweet:

Well, they don't make the motors/internal planetary gears themselves so it could be a problem with a subcontractor. Either quality and/or availability. But that's not info privy to us mortals, I guess

If you can ask the Lego executive in charge of Power Function production, that would be great. Some times companiess may not provide even their own customer service reps with all the nitty gritty details. Start from the top down. :classic:

I was hoping to score a servo motor on weekend after winning a team speed build contest. We had to build the Crawler and normally the winning team gets to part out the set. Sadly that was not the case this year. I guess I'll have to patiently wait for S@H and enjoy my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle set prize in the meantime. Sometimes Murphy's Law happens. :sceptic:

If these parts have quality problems, what about the 3 sets that have them. Crawler, Boss and crane. Can we be sure that whatever motors come with those sets will work. I mean if a were to buy the crawler then it would be on a shelf somewhere and made earlier, or does it only affect newer part not made yet. Those other 2 sets are weeks away from being released, can they? Hopefully the danish can give a better answer.

Very well, Rufus, I did what you said and "took it up with them directly" for the 11th time. I telephoned Lego Customer Service in the USA again just now at 1-800-835-4386 and talked with Myrda (sp?) ______. She put me on hold for several minutes to check on the 88003 & 88004 Power Functions motors. There is a "quality problem that has delayed the release of these products." The Lego Group did not want to release them until the quality issues were solved. She did not reveal the nature of the quality issues. There is no release date known at this time. :sadnew:

Quality issues sound right, I have a new servo motor in the mail right now from Lego to replace the one from my 9398. The one I have turns almost 180 degrees right and about 45 degrees left or anywhere in between when it feels like it.....

Sorry to hear that, did you have to post your faulty one back?

Nah,

I offered to send it to them but they just wanted the serial number on the bottom.

The guy was very apologetic and really cool, great customer service.

I got a follow up email also apologizing and telling me that QC will look into it and my new motor is on its way from Denmark.

The fact that they instantly apologized and offered a replacement for an expensive servo motor is a bit telling though......... Issues.....

Well that sucks. Good thing they helped you quickly. I wonder just how big the problem is, i mean the crawler has been sold for a year now. Shouldn't this have been solved earlier or did they recently switch supplier? :shrug_confused:

I telephoned Lego Customer Service yet again today, and talked with Kara ____ . She said that there is no specific release date for the Power Functions 88003 and 88004 motors; their release for individual sale keeps getting pushed back. When I tried to find out more about the "quality" issues with these motors, she didn't know specifics. I guess 1974 has had no luck getting answers either, so we'll have to wait even longer.... :sceptic:

Wow ok so why are they on this site and not lego shop at home site?

I would guess they gave priority for the US education market. If they are having quality problems then they probably don't have the quantities to fulfill the education and S@H markets demands.

I wonder if Las Vegas bookies are taking bets on when they will show up on S@H? Forget about the British Royal baby gender/birth.

14 and 25 dollars...if this price usually almost equal toUS S&H, in Europe it would be about 16 and 28 euro

That's not much cheaper than BL price:) no surprises and prices will stay almost the same.

David, this dont cost all your nerves!

Lego education seems to be a little more expensive than S@H Even more so if you count that you don't get VIP points

Unfortunately I have to second that, waiting for the release still seems to be the best option :sceptic:

You could try ordering them from Lego Education US

http://www.legoeduca...arge_motor/2648

http://www.legoeduca...ervo_motor/2649

Has anyone had any luck doing this? I tried it (in the US, on a Mac running 10.6, using all the browsers I have - Firefox, Chrome, and Safari) and had no luck. While I was able to add both kinds of motors to my cart, when I tried to check out the site got stuck in an endless redirect. Maybe their site only fully works on Explorer?

Release date unknown at the moment. I've heard, and don't quote me on that  , that there is significant delivery and quality problems as well ... Sorry, no real hard quotable info as of now. Better to get your parts of BL if you need them asap
