I want to say that I was really excited by this contest because it was so different from most of the contests I've seen on eurobricks. It also took me back to my childhood where I would take 2 sets I got for Christmas and try to build something out of just the pieces from those sets before putting them back together or parting them out. I did it many times over the years and this contest was a great trip down memory lane. I also think it challenges us as builders to make use of a small amount of bricks when we might not otherwise do so.

I also have a question though. On both contests I've gotten a score of 6. I'm not complaining about the score at all, but I was wondering what's causing my builds to rank so low? I'm really looking for positive critique here. I think we are all very careful about what we say about each others builds out of respect for each other and I think that's great. However, if there are never any constructive comments given how do we know how to improve as builders? I'm really appreciative of everyone who has taken time to post about my builds, don't get me wrong. I just would like some input on how I can improve more than I would like to hear "Great build!" For example, I may not agree with every critique MstrOfPppts has about all the SoNE builds (mine especially!) but I've learned the most about how to improve from his constructive criticism. I'm in this contest for two reasons. 1) To have fun building with Legos! and 2) To improve my building techniques. Thank you to everyone for making my first goal a reality! Now, can you help me with my 2nd goal and tell me why my builds aren't the best and how to make them better?

Are we also getting our scores for the free-builds yet?

Be patient young padawan, the judges have real lives outside of SoNE too.

And did I earn 12 XP from this Episode or is 12 my total?

You earned 12.

I had no input on that score, so I can't answer completely, but I do want to point out that we score with '5' as an average MOC for the first round, so a '6' is above-average, and it looks like there were some builders who had incredible entries and beat you to the second round of judging where you can get a lot more points, not necessarily that your entry was bad. I wouldn't be discouraged. :classic:

Lucky rebels... with your numbers, your extra parts, your talented builders... It's not fair!

At least you didn't get those plans you ware looking for. This may look like a victory, with all those tags, but in fact it's your biggest defeat since the battle of Hoth! Stupid rebels...

But hey, I didn't say your builds were thát bad.

You don't agree with my feedback?! <nods his head> ... just kidding. I'm really glad that some do appreciate the feedback I write. Some might think it's a lot easier to write how something is good but for me it's a lot easier to be frank! Therefor sometimes it sounds like a certain creation is really bad, but bear in mind two things. Fisr that what I write is my subjective opinion and does not mean that everyone sees it the same way. And second that most things I don't mention are just OK and don't need fixing but I don't write it since then I could type every comment I make for about 15 minutes ... I do try to highlight something good everytime but sometimes I just run out of ideas. It's either I've seen something very similar or have even done it myself or it's just a strange mood I'm in writing the comment.

I too miss some more constructive feedback as I've said in the feedback topic. It's not only us here but it seems that SoNE and SW in general has not a lot of interest outside this subforums. There's plenty of MOC experts out there from which I'd be glad to read any feedback. Not neccesarily on my builds - sometimes you have to learn from things said about other's work too. But guys (and gals), first we have to show the organizers that we're really willing to participate! Piranha politely asked us what were our suggestions for the SoNE continuation and two of us replied?! Yeah I know everyone is insanely busy at the exact time they want to write something in here ... and then they forget ... and then it's too late ... and then ... my megablocks!

Well I know I got carried away (again) and that this doesn't belong here. I'd also suggest that further similar comments are done in the feedback thread so that it's all in one place.

That happens to me everyday... :look:
