Action Themes Halloween: Monster Bash

The Monsters and the Fighters don't always have to battle. Some nights they all agree to just kick back and relax. Build those groovy ghouls and funky fighters getting down to some cool tunes, hanging out or just having some fun!

Prizes will be announced later.

Rules

• Build a vignette that measures 16 studs by 16 studs (No height limit.)
  
• A reasonable overhang is allowed to accommodate tree limbs or minifigures accessories, but may not exceed more than 2 studs outside the base.
  
• This is a building contest. Be creative. Any location, any entertainment activity. So long as Monsters and Fighters are having fun together!
  

Full Rules

• No official Monster Fighter figures are required but are preferred.
  
• No clone brands or custom parts including decals, stickers, cut outs unless it's official TLG stickers.
  
• Custom parts includes BricksArms, BrickForge, etc.
  
• There is no parts limit as long as it all fits within the vignette.
  
• Entries are to be posted in this topic.
  
• One entry per person. An entry must include a picture (no larger than 800x600) showing the vignette. You may include up to 2 more images following the same rules. If you choose to take additional pictures, you may link to an outside gallery.
  
• Digital backgrounds are allowed.
  
• No LDD entries.
  
• Upload your images onto those dedicated image hosting websites such as Brickshelf, Flickr, etc. Do not use Eurobricks attachment to upload your images.
  
• No webcam or cellphone camera images can be used for the submitted entry. It must be taken in a clean and decent background with enough brightness to show the beauty of your entry.
  
• The contest begins now and will end on the (31st October. 12:00 am) (GMT). Voting will begin after that and will last 7 days.
  
• Please note that cheating or rally your friends, co-workers, and whoever that is not active in Eurobricks but owns an Eurobricks account but wants to vote for the sake of voting in terms will be frowned and may or will be subjected to further inquiry.
  
• In the event of a tie, the Staff will vote to decide the winner(s) and all Staff decisions are final.
  
• Any violation of the rules will be subject to disqualification.

Is this a total of 3 pictures are a total of 2 pictures posted per entry?

I assume the digital backgrounds rule allows for editing in a background, not just one included when the photo was taken.

This will be my first contest entry and I want to do it following the rules.

Can I use aliens in an entry? I think people often associate aliens and alien abduction with Halloween, plus the famous "War of the Worlds" broadcast was on Halloween night. Just wanted to clarify.

They are scary and monsters, so I think that should be ok, so long as it looks more like a Monster than a SciFi MOC.

Hmm... just reread the rules. My entry doesn't really have the Fighters partying with the Monsters (at least, not their entire body hehe). Does it have to have the Fighters present?

I'm sorry to make another suggestion to change the area limit. I have a good idea for a submission, but my idea wouldn't work very well in a square base, so I want to do it on a 12x20 base. The total area of this base (240 studs) is slightly less than 16x16 (256 studs). I would change the rule so that the length and width must have a sum of 32.

It can be sixteen studs long or under, 16x16 is just a helpful square area to work with, but the maximum is 16 along the front and 16 down the side.

Damn, damn, dammit. I have already built most of my entry at 12x20. It is an idea that wouldn't work within 16 studs. You should get more flexible.

I don't think building something assuming that the rules will change part way through a contest is quite the way to go here . A big part of the fun/challenge is creating an MOC within the restrictions given. You still have some time to adjust your build and get it in - as always, the more the merrier. Otherwise just post it as a MOC outside of the contest like hench did here, so we can still see it in all its' glory.

I'm enjoying all the entries so far - a couple of my favorites right now: the Spa of Good and Evil is a beautifully clean build with a lovely colour scheme; SpaceySmoke's Bash at Lord Vampyre's mansion has some really good detail and lots of action (although the pictures of the 'good ending' didn't turn out quite as good as the originals, and I miss the Fighter's head mounted on the wall, but I understand why you changed it); and the minigolf one is really innovative, especially that zombie arm golf club .

The last minute entries are usually some of the best, I'm looking forward to see more great builds as Halloween nears. And thanks to Peppermint_M for organizing this - all the different categories are great, and building for some of them has been a hoot.
