We teach students how to take professional-looking pictures and to write detailed opinions and facts about sets. In-depth lessons and one-on-one interaction teaches students everything from the basics of reviewing to neat tips and tricks to give reviews that extra flair. Today represents the fifth year of the Reviewers Academy. When the Academy first began, five years was a milestone to reach, and today we have achieved that. It has been a long journey, one that has only been made possible thanks to the students who wish to learn, and the teachers willingness to dedicate the time and knowledge to them. This year we saw 4 students complete the first portion of the Academy and achieve the bronze-level (Brickington, TrumpetKing, Boomchil, The Penguin), 2 silver-level students (Boomchil, The Penguin), and we welcomed a new teacher (ThePenguin). These students are accompanied by those already working toward producing quality reviews in the Academy, and welcomed by 59 new students who joined us since last year. If you are interested in joining the Reviewers Academy, Please visit the official topic for more details. The teachers have prepared 4 reviews in celebration of the Academy's 5 years: 6036: Skeleton Surprise by dj2005 850425: Business Card Holder by LuxorV 850839: Pirate minifigure pack by WhiteFang 79103: Turtle Lair Attack by Oky In addition to this, over the course of this last year the teachers have given 20 early, exclusive reviews of some highly anticipated sets: 10233: Horizon Express by mostlytechnic 10937: Batman: Arkham Asylum Breakout by Clone O'Patra 21017: Imperial Hotel by Masked Builder 41015: Dolphin Cruiser by Oky 41005: Heartlake High by Pandora 41999: 4X4 Crawler Exclusive Edition by Masked Builder 70706: Crater Creeper by Pandora 21050: Create Your Own Architecture by JimButcher 21018: United Nations Headquarters by Clone O'Patra 21103: Back To The Future Time Machine by Rufus 70003: Eris Eagle Interceptor reviewed by WhiteFang 70004: Wakz' Pack Tracker reviewed by I Scream Clone 70100: Ring of Fire reviewed by WhiteFang 70102: CHI Waterfall reviewed by I Scream Clone 71001: LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10 reviewed by WhiteFang 10240: Red Five X-Wing Starfighter reviewed by Rufus 70708: Hive Crawler reviewed by LuxorV 70709: Galactic Titan reviewed by WhiteFang 21015: Leaning Tower of Pisa reviewed by Rufus 71002: LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 reviewed by WhiteFang Sincerely, The Reviewers Academy Teachers Quote
VBBN Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 It's hard to believe that 5 years has passed, but it has been a great experience being a teacher and I look forward to many years forward. I want to extend my thanks to the students, because you truly are the ones who keep the Academy what it is. With your support and desire to learn, it gives us teachers great motivation to help you. Every decision and bit of advice that we put forth is to give you all the best experience possible, and to learn as much as you can. If you are a new student who has joined or is thinking of joining, remember that the path through is not always easy; Especially on your first few reviews, there is a lot of room for improvement, and every comment given is a way to not only increase your review quality, but you will also learn many of the technical aspects of reviewing. For those currently in the process of working towards any of the 3-level medals, remember to take your time to produce your best work. We don't enforce a time limit, it is all taken at your pace. With that said, we encourage you to never give up, and keep working hard. Like all hard work, it does pay off. VBBN Quote
LEGO Family Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Congratulations on the 5 years of reviews. Unfortunately i havent been around on eurobrick for that long. Buit i have surely viewed a lot of reviews and must say that they are very high quality. Thats probably due to all the work you all, teachers and students put into them. Dont ever stop. I sometimes wish i had time to do this also, but then i would probably end up not having time to build. Again congratulation on the 5 years. Now we look forward to the 10th year anniversary. :) Quote
ShaydDeGrai Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Congratulations and many, many thanks for the thoughtful reviews and quality content you've all contributed to this site over the past five years. Here's to many more years of outstanding articles for a very appreciative audience. Keep up the great work! Quote
Rick Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Congratulations RA teachers and students and thanks for making Eurobricks the best place for reviews of LEGO sets. Quote
fhomess Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Awesome work, everyone. I know this is the first place I come for reviews of new sets. Quote
Redhead1982 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Congratulations on the Anniversary! You're all doing a very great job with the Reviews, and I always look forward to reading new ones. That's also a reason I want to join in, and learn from the best, how to present sets and MOCs in the best possible way. Quote
Lego Spy Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Wow, five years and I only joined three months ago! Thank you to all the teachers who made this possible. Quote
RelicRaider Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Yes, the reason I joined eurobricks, and the reason I was introduced to here was the incredibly high quality reviews. I used to check around brickset, and even if I didn't care for a set, I'd still check out the indepth eurobricks reviews anyway, because, you never know, it could persuade me to buy it. Congrats on the five year anniversary for teachers and students alike, this certainly sounds like something Id want to be a part of in the future. :) Quote
ZO6 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Massive shout-out to those who keep taking the time to put out these great reviews. EB wouldn't be the same without you! Quote
Rumble Strike Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I feel as though the undoubted quality instilled in the Eurobricks Reviewers Academy by its teachers must be one reason for so many pre-release reviews. TLG certainly know that the sets given out are going to be shown off thoroughly and professionally. Well done to all who put in the time to bring us these fantastic reviews. Quote
WhiteFang Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 Really awesome! Time really files and the Reviewers Academy has been half a decade old! We have certainly seen many more higher quality reviews being made by our students and teachers. Even our own EB members are also doing great with their own style of reviewing and there is certainly a high standard of reviews being made available for the different variety of LEGO sets which we can use it to aid in our buying decision. EB can never do without the Reviewers Academy! I am very pleased to see the mark of the new milestone and for many more positive learning years to come! Quote
