I'm sorry, but this thread has now become totally irrelevant on a LEGO forum. I'm sure there are more suitable venues elsewhere to discuss magnetos and space weather. As for the original poster, the issues you are having with YouTube are best taken up with them directly.

That's because the comment was marked as spam. The creator of the video has to manually unmark as spam or delete it by going to the spam comment section only they can see. Comments containing links are automatically sent to the spam section, so the owner has to choose whether to approve, delete, or leave the comment in the spam section.

Thanks, that explains why I am seeing my immediate comments vanish and are only here for me to see. They got to be approved first when they link to other stuff for reference.

This is an argument brought up all the time in what are generally considered "public" forums. The thing you are forgetting is YouTube is privately owned. They have the right to censor anything they want for any reason. Don't forget you are able to load the videos to youtube for free. You have the ability to choose a different video hosting service, but you won't since youtube dominates that area of the Internet.

With that said I think it's lame what they are doing but I've heard the freedom of speech thing here on the forum 100 times. Freedom of speech doesn't apply when the forum "youtube" is privately funded and operated. I mean you have the right to type what you want, but youtube has the right to censor that for whatever reason they feel, since they are paying for the bandwidth that houses your comment.

Freedom of speech is more related to being able to say what you feel without being persecuted for it. Censorship in a private forum is that forum owners right.

The only way you'd have a dog in this fight is if you were a stockholder and it said somewhere in some agreement that your comments and videos would not be censored. I'm willing to bet if you read the youtube users agreement it clearly outlines their right to do whatever the heck they want.

Thanks, That is great to know. I read the ToS for YouTube. It is incredible to see how much control youtube has give everyone over their channel, It didn't occur to me until I saw Just2good post. To me it appeared that YouTube was actively involved in hiding my comments from the public to see the second I post them, because I leave some comments and reply's on couple of videos and then I check to see if those comments are there and their gone. I didn't realize that the channel owner had to approve my comments because of the links which is most certainly the case here.

Ok, so a mechanical atom generator is a magneto, which is a dynamo. Those had been around for a century at that time, I don't understand the fascination of his endeavor...

Right, this is well establish knowledge. The only difference between a magneto and a dynamo is that dynamo has commutator. The fascination for Ed is what he left behind and what he did.

What you say after that makes absolutely no sense to me, maybe I am emmensely dense, what is your point?

My point is this, you can be anything you want to be on YouTube all you need is a camera or some means to record your computer screen and your set go to do what ever you want to do.

There are plenty of places online where you can buy followers or subscribers for your blog or youtube channel, no mystery there.

What is YouTube going to do about it.

I haven't read Ed's book, but from what I have seen so far this guy hasn't come up with a single original idea (that makes sense, that is). All I can see him doing is coming up with new names and terms for already existing devices and physical principles. There is no such thing as an individual magnetic north or south pole. You can't have one without the other, it is the equivalent of having half a boble, it makes no sense. A magnetic field is cause by electrons in a domain having a syncronized rotation around their respective atom. This field has 2 ends, north and south. It doesn't really matter if this guy Ed believes it or not, thats how it works.

I am sorry to say it, but you are wasting your time with this Ed guy. There is a reason nobody cares about his "scientific work", it makes no sense. He was very good at sculpting coral rocks and moving them around. Have a look at all the levers and tripods in pictures of him and his workshop, thats how he did it.

Ed views on what the individual magnetic north and south pole is a hard one to get across because of how he describes himself. Ed is not talking about the magnet that picks up ferrous metal, what he is referring to is the positive and negative electricity. This is what Ed said in his advertisement for his book magnetic current, "To the electrical engineer the positive electricity is everything the negative is nothing, but to the physics the negative electricity is everything and the positive is nothing. Looking from a neutral standpoint they cancel each other out so we have no electricity, but we have something."

Sure it might seem like I am wasting my time here but it is a hobby for me. I do see the levers, log roller and tripods in his book he also has a giant come along winch and that does have significance importance on how he moved and built his coral castle but it that rotating rock gate has always made me question exactly how he is able to do what he did there. He balanced a 9 ton rock and precisely set in place with a bearing that was able to last for quite some time all by himself as the legend goes. That is 9 ton gate is one impressive piece of work by all means.

I understand, but there is a positive side to all of this and it is that I am no longer convinced that YouTube is actively suppressing my comments or videos. Sometimes things don't appear like they seem. I want to Thank everyone for your support on the matter.

I am on my crappy phone so I can't qoute :)

About YouTube doing something about people buying subscribers: I don't think they will. Why would they, if anything it creates an illusion of activity on their site, although tiny in the big picture. And people are very primitive, if something seems to be popular, it is per definition good. Same reason why people buy more subscribers in the first place.

Now to the interesting part, the off topic stuff: again Mr. Ed's statement about electricity makes no sense. There is no positive and negative electricity. Electricity is the "movement" of charged electrons from a starting point to a destination, a positive pole and a negative pole, or a katode and an anode. He might be talking about positively and negatively charged particles, but how he describes it makes no sense. Electricity is still just and exchange of energy between the two in the form of charged electrons. This is all 5th or 6th grade physics.

About that door everybody is so fascinated with: first of all it doesn't weigh 9 tonnes, it's much less. Secondly it is very simple to construct, you can do it yourself if you have the time and a big rock. First you place the big rock with what you estimate to be it's center of gratity on top of something that will serve as a pivot. Then you drill a hole through it. Then you slide an iron rod though the hole you just drill, and place a second pivot on top. If it is Not balanced perfectly, you chip a little off the rock to balance it.

Please remember that this guy Ed made this coral castle over a period of 28 years, and it was pretty much all he did in those 28 years. So he had plenty of time to do it. Yes it is quite an achievement, but there is nothing mysterious about it.
