Hello everybody,

Nice weather = less Lego. But the summer is gone; so back to action!

I want to share with you another work in progress. The outside of this bakery is ready. Now I’ll have to start on the inside.

The only part that is a bit more complicated, is the horizontal line with the castle windows on their side. The construction is held together with some bricks that are upside down.

But before I go there, perhaps there are some nice comments and suggestions to create a nicer facade.

I really like the arched window's used sideways. Good idea! Personally, because of the roof being the same colour, it is a bit to gray to my taste. However, It is well constructed!

This is my first eurobricks post (though I've been a long time lurker), but your model was the straw that broke the camel's back and got me to register!

I agree with the suggestion about it being very grey. Perhaps making the mansard part out of darker (black?) bricks would break up the monotany of the greyness. Also, is there room to add a small overhang (or even an awning) above the top-story windows? You could utilize a contrasting color there. Lastly, maybe try out some colored tiles (1x1 rounds, 1x2s) in lieu of the grey tiles used for the edge/pillar detail? Very nice build...reminiscent (to me) of Green Grocer in some aspects.

Nice building, TwoKnightsBicycle. I agree about the roof, though. A darker colour would be better. I also think the big window on the first floor should be made in the same style as the other windows upstairs. Unless you want to use it as window of a shop, of course. Then it might be better the way it is now.

I also took a look at your other works on Flickr. Quite nice, I must say. Especially the art deco building. And I like how you use the the two knights and the bicycle as a trademark on the pictures

Thank you for the comments. It's true: it IS very gray. I suppose it's because I wanted to avoid too much colours this time (compared to the art deco house). But indeed: when I look back on it: it's too much of the same. Mmm work to do.

Regarding the large windows: it is indeed the idea to have some 'action' there. Hence the large windows on the ground floor and the large one on the first floor.

I like the SNOT brick and window work here 'TwoKnightsBicycle'.....keep going and Brick On !

I like the SNOT castle windows - it works well, but I'm kind of thinking that because of the size of that decorative frieze that the Ground floor looks a bit out of proportion to the Second floor. Perhaps just another row of bricks on the Ground floor (above the Doors/below the frieze) would give it more emphasis.... (however I could be completely wrong)

I do like it though and can't wait to see the interior!

OK, some advice from a real baker

your choice of the brown and cream bricks for the trim is good, nice food colors

the grey bricks not a good choice, nor is the green floor

I LOL'd at the door handle

it would be interesting if you installed a wood fired oven, looks different to an electric one

I look forward to seeing this building get an interior

Really nice building, I love the way you've done the curved windows, very inventive! I also like the taller part of the roof above the balcony (not sure of the architectural term), but it works veru well. Maybe another colour other than the grey would be nice but it's still a very good building with lots of great detailing!

Create a nice facade you asked, why? This looks great as it is. Maybe you can change the color of the roofsloops, a bit too much light grey perhaps, but even with the light grey roof, i't looks great.
