You know you've built something pretty darn good when TBB blogs it. You know you've built something spectacular when Keith Goldman is the blogger. Kudos sir.

This is an amazing build. Not only have you stacked some brinks on top of each other, but it looks like you'e done some hard-core engineering to get that dome to work. That's the best part for me. Kudos again.

What a beautiful MOC! Big and full of little details too. Everything is wonderful, but the the snotted floor is more wonderful: i love it and maybe I'll get this style for my future MOCs.

How could I missed that post? It is brilliant, I love the floor the best but everything else is superb. It's always good to see so many Historica characters on a scene.

I've seen it on Flickr - this is something unreal wonderful. The structure is huge, beautiful inside and outside, and that dome shape that reminds me of Pantheon is done perfectly, as well as the towers with their special shape. The floor is another admirable detail. I adore it!

Wow. Just amazingly epic, and also wonderfully detailed too. So many great little touches. Great job all around. And thanks for putting in Gex; I especially like that you've given him a map and quill! Although he really should put down his work and concentrate on Dextrus' ceremony.

How sturdy is the build? It looks solid and there's some serious engineering going on, but I'm wondering if a LEGO half dome of that size is stable?

This was my original idea for the Petraea University community build... last year. Yeah, i know, please don't laugh! Anyway, i got it done finally, and now the university has a focal point for meetings, debates, lectures, examinations and demonstrations of all kinds! :classic:

Laugh? I can only applaude to you for a very terriffic moc. I doubt I will ever make such a beauty in ten years time.

Thanks again peeps for all of your comments and kind words! You guys really do make me blush.

Thanks mate! Yeah that was lovely to get blogged on TBB - and Mr Goldman is a wonderful builder for sure. :classic:

Regarding the structural engineering of the dome, i was just lucky in that my first or second solutions worked well enough that they didn't need any major revisions. I'm still a little iffy though that i couldn't make a full inner dome skin, rather than just a central apeture with radiating struts. :sceptic: If i keep it together for Brickvention next year i might try to revsit that.

Thanks! Yep, if you get into mosaic floors, then Katie Walker is the person to check out on Flickr - one of her designs forms the basis for this floor. (Apols if you know her work already) Just be prepared to stock up big on cheese slopes.

Cheers NM! :classic: Yeah i couldn't resist giving Gex a map, had to reference your achievements somehow!

The build is surprisingly sturdy - i made some minor adjustments after taking it to the Seymour show (approx 160-180km round trip), as i had a partial dome collapse in the car on the way home. (The inner skin of the central apeture and the upper windows came down) Reinforcing the apeture skin and technic frame behind it also meant i could do away with the white beam in front, letting more light in - a nice bonus! The pic below shows the difference with the finshed moc:

At the Seymour show. I didn't have the lamps in there at that stage either and the minifigs were mainly placeholders.

Haha, awww, thanks. Don't doubt yrself though, you should have seen the nonsense i was building only 3 years ago!

oh man, this is one of the most amazing mocs I've seen so far, and I think it's especially great, that you build this within the GoH realm. Quite an honor for all of us!
