Can we list here what the scale is for each Technic set?

Someone already mentioned that sets 42009, 8043 and 8265 are of 1:24.

Playmobil figures are similar to Lego Technic figures are these are in the 1:22-1:24 scale. Playmobil/LGB G scale trains are 1:22.5.

The 8258 and 9397 are not in same scale. One is visibly bigger than the other.

why not make al the trucks the same scale? One is 15 studs soms 17studs and others 19 studs?keep them all tesame. Planes and other stuff i dont mind beeing bigger/smaller. Butt like the unimog could have been build in scale of the crane truck. but then again i rebuild everything to my own desires. so i don't really care.

I think the priority for TLG is to make every particular model look good by itself and not with the others. Also different models needs different scale for the functionality to be preserved. E.g. I can not imagine Unimog in 8258/8285 scale with functional crane/plow. Maybe it is possible but with some experienced MOCers' magic.

I personally like the diversity of sizes - if every model was in the same scale we would have small variety of parts (wheels, panels etc)

Edit : The large trucks, like 9397 & 8258, are pretty much techfig scale, but the 42009 is not. Just this morning I saw a man standing next to that Liebherr and the wheels are almost as tall as a grown man

The entire minifig scale is build around the minifigure. Differenties in scale limit the playablility very much. In technic the focus is much more on function and les on playablility.

I gues the designers have different goals for technic sets and city sets. So depending on the goal different decisions are made. Its al Aboutaleb tradeoffs

Also none of the models have the correct number of rivets, I have counted them. I certainly will be buying less Lego Technic in future.

Seems this thread has taken on a life of its own ... fascinating.

Rivets = pins, you loose

An example would be the 42009. The tires used on real Liebherr mobile cranes are the 445/95R25 series which measure 58.4 inches tall. Divided that by 24 and you get 2.4 inches; exactly the height of 32019.

Yes, but a crane truck would be larger in real life, wouldn't it?
