Alfadas Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 About a week ago I uploaded phase ll and phase lll archery, but I found out I had to post 1 in a topic, and wait with phase lll till I got some nice and usefull tips. So, here is the Phase ll archery again, this time without the phase lll. Enjoy! http://www.flickr.com/photos/100509226@N08/sets/72157636711143495/ Please give some tips, so that I can change and re-upload the Phase lll archery. Thanks! Quote
Gideon Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 The ground looks good, while the border could use some more detailing or finish. What bothers me most however is the blurry pictures, is that Digimax A502 giving you a bit of a hard time...? But better pictures is definitely one of the major improvements I would suggest that you strive for. Quote
Alfadas Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Thanks, I was pretty happy with the ground too. The border is supposed to be a ruin of a small building, but I guess it is too flat and even to be a ruin, right? About the camera, it only has 5 megapixels and it is more then 5 years old, I believe. Currently I am saving money for more Legos, not a better camera, so the pics will stay blurry for a while . Gideon Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 5 megapixels is more than enough for web photos (keep in mind that a full-HD monitor is only about 2 megapixels!), so that is not the problem. Maybe try to clean the lens with some lens cloth/other microfiber cloth? Quote
Emma Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I think your camera should be capable of taking better images (unless the focusing mechanism is broken). (My own camera is only 6 megapixels, and a few years older than yours, although it is an SLR so that does help). Anyways, here is a few things that might help improve your images without having to get a new camera: - lots of light - outside on an overcast day, or in a slightly shady area (full sun might make too many dark shadows) - don't use the flash if you can help it (this causes glare, and weird shadow effects) - One thing that might really help with the blurriness is to back up and zoom in (instead of having the camera so close to the moc); your camera might be having issues focusing on something so close... - set the camera on a stack of books or something, instead of holding it when you take the picture - this should help stabilize it and might help with some of the blur. You builds are good - and getting better, and just being able to show them off as well as possible would help a lot. Quote
Alfadas Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 @Gideon: I can try that, thanks @Emma: Thanks, it is always good to hear that your builds are good! Point 1: From now I take photos outside, hope that helps. Point 2: From now I don't use flash. Point 3: I will try that. Point 4: That is a good tip, from now I will use a few books or just the table. Quote
Gideon Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Point 4: That is a good tip, from now I will use a few books or just the table. You could also try to get a small tripod, there are very cheap "pocket tripods" to be found here and there for only a couple of €. Even if you put the tripod on top of something (like a stack of books) it makes it easier to direct the camera. Quote
Alfadas Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 I think I am just going to use a few books, spending every euro on Lego, not photographing accesoires. But thanks for the tip. Quote
mpoh98 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Well, I agree with what everyone else has said, follow these, and you should do great! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 As I said before I like the wooden racks that hold the quivers and the ground looks pretty good. And I do think if you made the 2 wide brick border more uneven it would look more like the ruins you were trying to portray Quote
Alfadas Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 Thanks! I don't think my phase lll archery will have ruins, but phase ll barracks will! I am just going to try somethings, and I guess I will have it uploaded here this weekend. Phase lll archery will be up this weekend too. Quote
MikeyB Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 (edited) I think I am just going to use a few books, spending every euro on Lego, not photographing accesoires. But thanks for the tip. not sure where you are in the world but the thread and size of a camera tripod mount is the same as the top of most lamps. just remove the retaining bolt that holds the lamp shade and thread it on the camera I think the best method is shoot outside in "open shade" like Emma mentioned. nice even light but you can defuse your flash use some tissue paper or a styrofoam cup over the flash. keep an eye on it! I have had the tissue start to smoke on bigger flash units! Edited October 24, 2013 by MikeyB Quote
Alfadas Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 I can try a lamp thingy, thanks for the tip. I photograph outside now, when there is sunlight, without flash. I am going to upload the photos from the phase ll barrack in a minute, so you can decide for yourself if the photos are better. Quote
