TechnicHead41 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 This is going to be my contribution to this great contest. A forage harvester. Later on i will build a trailer and something to pull it. Sorry for bad photo, but it's night here were i live and got only a small lamp at my building table. Quote
DrJB Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 My favorite color for Forage Harvesters is .... Yellow Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 DrJB are we talking about New Holland ??? or another make. Sorry but this time it's blue, because i have a lot of BLUE parts. Quote
DrJB Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 (edited) DrJB are we talking about New Holland ??? or another make. Sorry but this time it's blue, because i have a lot of BLUE parts. You got it ... but blue is ok as well ... as NH makes yellow forage harvesters, but blue tractors. Edited October 23, 2013 by DrJB Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 Some more progress of my forage harvester. But i got a little doubt about the size of it, i know that it has to be medium or small scaled. So i hope not it's to big for the contest ???? So if Jim can clear some things up about the sizes i would be glad .. Quote
D3K Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Your main concern should be the piece count, and from the looks of it, you're getting there too fast:-) my truck is a lot smaller than your harvester, and I had to cut a lot, and come up with alternative solutions! That being said, it looks good so far! Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 Thanks D3K ! I know i am getting there fast about the parts count, but have considered to shorten it by 5 to 7 studs. Because the cutterhead will use 20-30 parts alone + the cab to. Quote
skppo Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Thanks D3K ! I know i am getting there fast about the parts count, but have considered to shorten it by 5 to 7 studs. Because the cutterhead will use 20-30 parts alone + the cab to. 20-30 Eh? I estimated the part count of my harvester's cutter to nearly a hundred. Also it seems I have competition ;) Check my wip thread if you want to avoid similarities. Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 Well ! i'm not entirely sure about the exact numbers of the cutter head yet. i have a look then. Quote
Lakop Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Yes. That part count is important. Keep at it. H Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 I think it has about 250-300 parts now, still missing the cab and ladder + the cutter head. Have shorten it some more, but not to much. more pictures will follow. Quote
Jim Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Check my wip thread if you want to avoid similarities. You might want to check Skppo's WIP for scale comparison. Your model might turn out a bit too big. Thanks D3K ! I know i am getting there fast about the parts count, but have considered to shorten it by 5 to 7 studs. Because the cutterhead will use 20-30 parts alone + the cab to. I think shortening it, is a good idea. Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 Here is a updated version, much shorter. But still worried about the size If i have to make it even smaller it will lose some of its functions.. But judge for yourself. Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 It's time for the second model. A small tractor that will pull a trailer. In the background you can se my new smaller an improved forage harvester. Quote
Junpei Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Awesome, I love the steering system! But it looks like the steering parts are bending a lot... Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted November 1, 2013 Author Posted November 1, 2013 About the steering parts. its about 10 parts only. not much more than that. the tractor alone will be about 100 to 120 parts included pins when finished. That whats i'am hoping for. Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 Finally ! Tractor and trailer is uploaded on mocpages. See the rest of the pictures here. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/373430 Harvester will be added later today. So i hope none of you got any complains about i am adding my contribution to late. Quote
Junpei Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Nice entry, great job making the 20x30 tyres actually look good on something. Lots of pneumatics too, I like it! Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 Thanks alot Twentyleggedhen. I'm hoping that i can add the remaining parts on my harvester. Was under a lot of time pressure in the ending. Quote
