Hammerstein NWC Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 The minifigs are great for this! Possibly slightly too adult a subject for Lego but a very nice and neat kitchen too! Quote
WaysofSorting Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Thank you for being a friend. This is so fantastic. Just shared it on everything. A number of AFOLs in the U.S. are probably old enough to remember days staying home from school and seeing this show run, in some cities it seemed like, all day. CUUSOO seems to be a great place for 80's nostalgia to be reborn as brick, and this is epic - I could see a large numbers of people supporting this -- The Golden Girls Wikipedia page is an interesting read - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Golden_Girls (For one, there's a little history about the Kitchen Filming Set itself) but also this gem of a line - Promising! People have been talking about more LEGO-Disney matchups! There you go! "As a tribute to the success of The Golden Girls, all four actresses were later named Disney Legends." Now, if only someone would make Three's Company! Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Already supporting this on Cuusoo, great designing there 'MisterR'......good luck and Brick On ! Quote
Wout Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Lol! This is something I never expected, but it is a very good idea to get a nice kitchen interior and a bunch of old ladies. Ladies are still a miniority in Minifigland and old ladies especially. The Dutch TV had this show also in the late eighties, so I recognise this show too. Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I really like the details of the kitchen! Keep up the good work! :-) Quote
TheLegoDr Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Great details. Love the figure mash-ups. Very fitting. Instantly recognizable. The only thing I could think to do is maybe add a 1x1 plate underneath Dorothy's feet to make her taller than all the others. I would never expect to see something like this, but job well done. Very impressive. Quote
Kristel Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Great project! I love the minifigures and the details in the kitchen look great! Quote
Redhead1982 Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 The project looks great and promising. I'm not so sure of the characters, as they're based on an old (but great) TV-series. As a MOC it's a fantastic kitchen with so many great details. I like the brown shutters as cabinet fronts, the iconic red phone on the wall, towel rack, and so on. Well done. Quote
Only Sinner Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 This made me laugh, I can tell you worked hard to make it realistic, and it looks great. What a good show . Quote
ResIpsaLoquitur Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 This needs a Lego Deadpool chasing after Dorothy. Otherwise, I'm astonished. Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Oh no, I cannot believe I used to watch this programme! I had locked that fact away in the dark corners of my mind, now you forced me to think about it again. Aarrrggghhh! It is however I very nice rendition of the scene from that series, I especially like the collection of old ladies, they do look the part. i agree it should be a Cuusso project, I would buy it! Quote
Churchill Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 This is amazing! Dorothy is spot on! I'll support this. I bet Betty White never thought she'd be in minifigure form.... Quote
Sandy Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Incredible! I totally loved this show when I was a kid, even though most of the raunchy jokes flew right over my head. You've really captured the essence of each character perfectly into a minifig form, and the Miami house looks spot-on as well. Quote
Amset-Rah Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 It's funny, I just now got back into rewatching the Golden Girls, and this is a great project, a near perfect rendition of the Girls' kitchen. My only real complaint is Blanche's hair, but it's not entirely your fault since Lego hasn't made a lot of old lady-friendly hair and that's the best choice, all things considered. With all of the 80s things on Cuusoo, some of which have been approved like BTTF, I think we have a winner on our hands. Supported. Quote
kermit Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I love your moc. The kitchen is so detailed and i like the minifigures too. I am even watching the show right now. Quote
RunnersDad Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I loved this show when I was growing up, and still do today. The kitchen is a great representation of the set from the show. Great job! Quote
MisterR Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 Tnxs for the nice and good comments :-) I'm working to expend the set! Its on CuuSoo, the link is in the description. Quote
canuckster Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Scary how much that minifig looks like Beatrice Arthur. Quote
MisterR Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 I did a update on my Golden Girls Project on CuuSoo.. I was in the top 10, placed 4Th.. :-) Please vote on: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/50814 Quote
putertyger Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 There are alot of adults that would love this set including me, How about a Murder She Wrote set or the Knight Rider car that would be really neat. I see they came out with a delorian car that was from the 80's so don't be discouraged by the age of the show that you have created Legos are about creativity not when they are in time. Excellent job! Quote
Galaxy Explorer Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I work at a gay bar and I'm pretty sure you could sell one of these to every customer that comes in. There is a massive fan following here from customers and employees alike. I never watched it during its original run, but caught it in syndication much later, and consider it a true classic. Your set really captures the essence of the show, and the minifigs are spot on. Seeing this makes me want to try a different sitcom. All in the Family? Soap? Quote
