Philo Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 My scanner is broken so I can't post a plot right now. A camera works well too, that's what I did ;) Quote
freakwave Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) Intermediate update: Here's V19! I consider it "clean" till page 31 I will do 32 and following later in the evening. I have compressed the steps on the platter by reducing the repetitive builds of the 15L beams. It also includes a nice feature, done entirely with LDRAW/LPUB code, no pictures needed, have a look :-) Edited December 3, 2013 by freakwave Quote
teflon Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Here is my spirograph: And here is one of the spirals (not L412D to have a bit of variety): Thanks again to all of the contributers for this! Quote
Philo Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 It also includes a nice feature, done entirely with LDRAW/LPUB code, no pictures needed, have a look :-) LDrawed "Flip Model" arrow.... nice ;) Quote
Blakbird Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 Intermediate update: Here's V19! I consider it "clean" till page 31It also includes a nice feature, done entirely with LDRAW/LPUB code, no pictures needed, have a look :-) Looks like this version does not include the rubber bands I synthesized to hold the pen. Feel free to grab them from my model if you like. I like the CAD generated "flip arrows" you made! I've updated my render which could be used for the cover page. Quote
D3K Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Just built one, and it is truly a fascinating thing! Quote
PG52 Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Thanks to all, that's amazing ! I'm really glad you appreciate the spirograph ;) Quote
piterx Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 this is just great! amazing creation man! Quote

I like the CAD generated "flip arrows" you made! A nice weekend at a beautiful small Lego Convention in Austria with no spare time! I will take over your rubber bands for the pen as well as the pen. teflon Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Thanks to all, that's amazing ! I'm really glad you appreciate the spirograph ;) We do, we do! Thanks! My wife is using the spirograph drawings to decorate Christmas cards. Please invent some snowflake module :-) Quote
freakwave Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 (edited) So, I am with V24 right now, and I think that's it for now :-) I redid the arms and the tablebase to have them with the grid in the submodel. Blakbirds rubberbands do not fit exactly anymore..., may be you can change them. I added the clutch orientation, but only for the main model. For the gearbox I could not properly fit them. NOTE: Pages 36 and 38 are doubled due to a problem in LPUB. It is similar to the one we had before (remember blank page 100) but you cannot fix it that way if this situation occurs in a "multistep". You would need to remove them with a PDF editor. I cannot do it in LPUB. So, here is the MPD (V24) and the Pics with the PDF (as LPUB creates them) For the Axle Lenght Font I used, see the file header! Edit: Now I have a rest :-) Edit #2: The duplicate pages (36 and 38) are blank in the PDF Edited December 10, 2013 by freakwave Quote
legolijntje Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I'll make a nice pdf of it with a cover and than I'll upload it on Rebrickable. I'll finish it this week. I think that will be it, although it seems I got into another LDraw build at Madoca's Truck Thanks everyone! Quote

legolijntje Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Ok, here are the instructions. I added a cover and fixed the blank pages (and the page numbering). Also a parts list in brickstore. I'll add it to Rebrickable later today Quote
Kumbbl Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Just one word, or better five: Wow, Wow, Wow, Wow, Wow!! One of the strongest communities i know... All of my praising to all contributers - TLG couldn't have done it better... BTW: such a spirograph could/should be one model of a forthcoming universal technic set.... unfortunately TLG has shut down offering such sets.. :-( Quote
teflon Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 My spirograph is in action. We have made Christmas cards with it:-) Thanks guys. ... could/should be one model of a forthcoming universal technic set ... Have I missed the mention of the universal technic set? Or is it just a wet dream (a nice one, I must confess)? Quote
skriblez Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Awesome work to all of you that have been involved. Quote

JGW3000 Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 (edited) Fantastic, thank you for all your hard work, my kids are looking forward to building it, and we have 92% of the parts (still need to figure out what I need to dismantle to make it) Edited December 13, 2013 by JGW3000 Quote

On the page you see how much you have and what you're missing, there's a big button "Find parts to build" Quote
JGW3000 Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Thanks! been there and registered - we are working on the standbeest walker right now, so need to see how many parts overlap... Quote
BachAddict Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Wow! This builds like an official LEGO set! Some mistakes though: One 12t gear missing on the left side of the motor module No axle to drive turntable Two small beams missing from one paper clamp Several extra pieces I can edit the Rebrickable inventory, shall I make it match up to my build?
