Alasdair Ryan Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) I suspect some of my parts have been lost due to adding the model in paper space. There is no sub models which are failed to load,it looks like they have not been added. Edited December 14, 2013 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
freakwave Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I suspect some of my parts have been lost due to adding the model in paper space. I found all the steps where they are not ok: One 12t gear missing on the left side of the motor module: Looks like it got lost when resorting the motor-base No axle to drive turntable : Same as above, when I rotated the table base I took it away and I forgot to add it... Two small beams missing from one paper clamp : some issue with LPUB or Buffer exchange, will check LPUB Several extra pieces: I could not found those, where do you think they are. I compared the steps and the BOM (in the isntructions) they fit. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I wounder if the "extra pieces" are buffered parts that are showing? Now was there some pieces showing that you could not remove because of a bug? Quote
freakwave Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I wounder if the "extra pieces" are buffered parts that are showing? Actually I did not count excess pieces but less in two cases, due to the issue with LPUB Buffer Exchange where the two beams are missing. (1x Beam 2L and 1x Beam 3L) If BachAddict would let us know which pieces I can check the file. Another thing to probably clean up are the different LBG 1/2 bushes and the different "Gear 8T" Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Do we not have spare axles 2 notched in the arm sub models? Quote
legolijntje Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 The Spirograph is in number 3 in the top 10 hottest mocs of the week on Rebrickable. With 1231 views and 282 builds. Nice! Quote
DrJB Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 neep to up those numbers by at least 1 ... built mine the very fist time the LXF file was posted. The Spirograph is in number 3 in the top 10 hottest mocs of the week on Rebrickable. With 1231 views and 282 builds. Nice! How do you get such info from Rebrickable? ... this page (hottest MOCS)? http://rebrickable.com/mocs Quote
betto Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 @ legolijntje : I'll make a LDD file for the 5th, so I'll send you the link. But I also wanted to make another instructions than LDD's ones, which aren't practical at all... (When I reproduce a MOC with LDD, I never use the instructions mode, always reproduce it directly) The LDraw render is impressive, much better than LDD's ones ! Looks really good :) @ DrJB : I tried to imagine the kinematics and to calculate them approximately before building, but on paper, without any software. The best drawings are obtained by caculating the best "base drawing" (typically one cycle - it can be more), but I can't do that for drawings which are very complicated so it's trial, errors, and a bit intuition in that case :) For the fifth version, I can easily know how the drawing will be before making it when it is the same type than the two ones I showed above ; the machine is also able to make the same kinds of drawings than the 4th, which are still quite complicated to calculate, though. I'm already thinking to the 6th version ; I'll perhaps be obliged to make an algorith to determine the type of drawing before, because the possibilities will be really very numerous... Hi everyone im just finish to build the v4 spirograph and it s amazing great model. im new in the forum and sorry for my english im italian but i want to make my compliment for the idea and the help for the realisatioin of the instruction. Now: the v5....wow ,there are instruction too for this one ?? or are you working on it ? thank Quote

Now: the v5....wow ,there are instruction too for this one ?? or are you working on it ? thank Hi betto, welcome to the forum Thanks for the compliments, I'm sure everyone who worked on this would appreciate it. At the moment there are no instructions for V5. I would like to build that version too, but we can't make any instructions because there's only a video of it. The builder said that he would maybe make an LDD file, so we could maybe make instructions, but that never happended. Life can be busy But... who knows what the future will bring. Quote
PG52 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Sorry, I didn't have any web access these days... The V5 is in stand-by for the moment, I really don't have any time to work on it and I want to improve it as far as possible before making the LDD file. It will take probably a lot of time, but I'll do that Quote
1963maniac Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 PG52, Version 4 is a great MOC!! I built it 3 days ago. Just joined eurobricks too. I got the spirograph through Rebrickable. Thanks!! I have been having great fun with it. I found a few things missing in the PDF instruction file. But, I figured it out and got the spirograph working anyway. Looking forward to version 5. Thanks, 1963maniac Quote
PG52 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Glad you like it ! And thanks again to the EB team for the instructions ! P.S. V5 is still built, I have another projetcs now and so few time to build, but I keep it to build the 6th when the inspiration comes back ;) Quote
1963maniac Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Thanks to all of you hard working lego lovers. I didn't have time til this week to build this moc. Everybody that I showed it to are facinated by it. SO MUCH WORK went into this. Thanks to each of you!!! I have to say I'm looking forward to the next version. Again, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! 1963maniac Quote

1963maniac Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 How many spirographs can it make really? In theory it should be 2x2x4x4x4=256. But, without shifting any gears and only changing the position of the crankarms, a very different spirograph can result. The number of combinations increases dramatically. Check it out. Quote

The relative initial phase of the cranks is relevant to the output. The theoretical number of possibilities is infinite. Quote

Replace a few long axles with 2 short axles and an U-joint connector such as 9244 or 61903 and that can add even more variations. Especially if the joints are worn and wiggles a bit when twisted. 1963maniac Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Guys & Dolls, I ordered some bricks and made a MOD of this. I changed the 40 tooth gear to a turntable with a 40 tooth gear that is driven independently of the turntable gear. The arm is still attached to the 40 tooth gear. I also remade the pen holder and enlarged the table. My excitement to make the first spirograph was dashed by the fact that there is too much play in the 40 tooth gear. The graphs are completely unacceptable, unfortunately. Also, for some reason I can't copy & paste my photo. Quote
PG52 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 1963maniac, I choose to use 40t gears exactly because they run with precision ; you should post pics of your modifs if you want us to help you, because I didn't understand what you exactly mean ;) Quote

legolijntje Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Well, when you type a text, there are a bunch of buttons on the top of the editor. The button under the smiley-button is the image button. It looks like a picture with a tiny tree. If you click that, you have to fill in the path to the image. Make sure this is the path to the image itself, so it has to end with something like .png, .jpg, .bmp etc. On Bricksafe, you get that link by hovering over the image, so you can see a list of available sizes, then choose one and copy the adres in your adres bar. Make sure the image is not bigger than the maximum size allowed on EuroBricks (1024 x 768). You can also just link to the picture of course, pasting in the web adres. Quote

PG52, The 40 tooth gear is powered and can spin independently on top of the turntable as it spins. Quote
