Alasdair Ryan Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 (edited) Who's actually going to do the LPub? If there isn't anybody yet, I can do it if needed. I have been stepping the most of the sub parts,Freakwave is doing the main part. There is something wrong with that 15 long beam underneath the model which seems to be going through the "motor-base". legolijntje Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I don't know which beam you mean? Btw, why are there so many parts with a weird color? Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I don't know which beam you mean? Btw, why are there so many parts with a weird color? I think that is freekwave, that changed the color. See the little wheels that are floating? It is next to that going through the connecters. Quote
legolijntje Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Ah, I see. It isn't the beam that's misplaced though, it are those 2 x-o-x connectors and the 4 blue pins that are misplaced. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Ah I see, that's my mistake then.... I will fix this now and add Assembly arrows to the main callout. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Ok so that is fixed, but now I have some callout errors to fix. V9 should be done by tonight. Quote

I felt the grey 12T gear (next to the yellow on the bottom left corner) had too much overhung. I made a small modification (yellow parts) as shown below. Edited November 10, 2013 by DrJB Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 DrJB I am not doing the "main" part but rather Freakwave is,I have got nothing to do with the gearbox or that main section. Quote
freakwave Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Oh, there's a lot going on :-) I had just two days off the internet and we are far ahead! I don't know which beam you mean? Btw, why are there so many parts with a weird color? Those are the changes I have done to make the motor a seperate assembly. It includes white parts that shall be removed and yellow parts that replace them. I remove them in the next base so that it is clean. They were once hidden, but I guess SR3D made them visible (That's what Alasdair is using, I think) DrJB I am not doing the "main" part but rather Freakwave is,I have got nothing to do with the gearbox or that main section. Yes, I am doing this. I have submodeled out most of the parts. Regarding the wheel-holder it happened between V7 and V8... Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 V9 is done. V9 adds the callout for tablebase, motorbase and the sub models. You best check over what I have done.... Quote
freakwave Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 V9 is done. Did you clean the file up manually as well? Reason for asking is that in V8 my LDView shows me artefacts of other subfiles in e.g. "front-gearbox" and "panel". Panel showed the assembled turntable. When looking through the file, the denominator "FILE" was missing. Now in V9 those are corrected. Interesting if you did not do it manually... But you use SR3D, right? Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 (edited) No I just replace files in notepad after I update them,I have been using only MLcad,SR3D explodes sub models and removes steps..... Is there anything else needing done? There is a rota step missing in the assembly of the arms. Edited November 11, 2013 by Alasdair Ryan Quote

freakwave Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Alright, I am working on a V11 right now. Base (fW) - Removed the white parts which I kept there as a reference, so it is clean now - change all the weird colors to the correct LEGO colors - extracted some assemblies into sub-models (16!) - planning to redo the order of some steps to make it easier and slimmer Front Gear Box (fW) - Changed the stepping as there is some repetitive building for the gears and managed to get it down to 13 steps from a whopping 36... Motor-Base (AR) - The wrong mounting point for the wheels are due to the 180° rotation of the sub-model "motor-base-sub1", this just needs to be rotated. Panel (AR) - may be give the step 1 a further breakdown Platter (AR) / Arm (AR) - no comments right now Also doing LPUB work right now :-) Will upload it in the evening Quote
legolijntje Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 @Freakwave, in what file-format and size do you want the cover? Or do you send me the pdf final instructions before putting them online so I can put them in the pdf itself (with Adobe Acrobat)? Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 V10 is done. Fixed sub file orientation in motor base, added another step in the panel call-out and fixed the rota step in arm3. Quote

If you can edit a PDF that is the best then to tweak with the output of LPUB. V10 is done. Fixed sub file orientation in motor base, added another step in the panel call-out and fixed the rota step in arm3. Alright I will take these subfiles into my V11 then Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Is there any thing else I can help you with freakwave? Quote
DrJB Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) If you're considering building this and are short on cardans the two shown in the above picture are not needed and can be replaced by a #2 straight connector. Edit: However, as pointed out by PG52 himself, the cardans are preferred as they do not introduce much friction. Edited November 14, 2013 by DrJB Quote

DrJB Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) Sure, here is a full 'underside' shot. http://www.brickshel...h/underside.png The modified LXF file is available on my brickshelf folder. All modifications I made are highlighted with WHITE parts. http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=535841 Edited November 14, 2013 by DrJB Quote
PG52 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Hum. You shouldn't delete the cardans, they're very useful to delete friction in the mechanism... Quote
DrJB Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) Hum. You shouldn't delete the cardans, they're very useful to delete friction in the mechanism... I agree fully, but I do not have the small 3L cardans. I have quite a few of the 4L though, and those are too big. I also put a note in my brickshelf folder that none of this work is mine and referred the reader to you and this thread. Hope it's ok. Edited November 14, 2013 by DrJB Quote
