BrickBloke Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Is there any reason that TLG don't produce more lights? I'd love to light up some of my models using PF, but I find the LEDs a bit harsh (too bright), or not appropriate. It would be helpful if they could produce a range of colours, maybe even flashing LEDs. I'm aware of some third party lights that will connect into LEGO, but there's not much choice with LEGO itself. I find that very disappointing! Quote
1974 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 I prefer using the old 9V system. My current truck MOC actually uses old 4,5V light yellowbricks Quote
Marcel1980 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 There is a discussion about this also in the flashing light topic. Quote
DrJB Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 The new PF LEDs have lower power consumption than the old 9V. Quote
1974 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 That's true, but not much. And they don't flash I've also been using this part : Both with sofitte/pinol bulbs and replacement LEDs. Looks pretty good for headlights on a large truck There really is a lot of really nice old LEGO light parts that can easily be implemented nicely with both 9V and/or PF. you just need to bit of DIY wiring yourself Quote

Lego Otaku Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=x456c01 LEGO did release old light brick with replaceable bulb. LED replacement bulb can be used in lieu of incandescent bulb. Quote
1974 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 'Cept for my own wiring/plugs (those from TLG these are not real LEGO items anyway), I do _not_ use custom parts. I'm an electronics expert, I sell all kinds of LEDs for a living. But using that is no fun! Working with/around LEGO parts is You can find all kinds of odd and funny parts here : http://www.bricklink.com/browseList.asp?itemType=P&catString=123 Quote
