I just realized my comment seemed unduly harsh. I didn't mean the MOC looked bad, I just thought the first one looked better in comparison.

Steve

No offense taken Steve. Not a problem at all. I'd rather you be honest. I like the 2nd one better. It has more of a haunted house look which I was looking for. The first one didn't capture that very well - perhaps it's more Western though.

In any case, I appreciate the feedback, and if I didn't value your comments, I wouldn't share the MOC.

Hmm... dunno which one I like more...

Firstly, I like the color scheme. Period ;-)

Secondly, I see them as different MOCs:

The first one looks more deserted and could be a broken down, forgotten hotel in a forgotten city. No one there anymore, and those who are are dead.

The second one looks more "lively", probably because there are more minifigs and an interior. It looks like part of Zombie town. OK, compared to the first the citizens technically would be dead, too, but... not really... you know what I mean. And those who are still alive are in for a treat for coming down the wrong way at the wrong time...

Thanks Hobbes. Do you have any of the WW sets? And are you a fan of the theme?

Very nice work! The cast of characters are up to your usual standard and very intriguing, the colour is one of my personal (though under used) favorites, and the model(s?) itself is very well built. My only quibble would be the extent to which both versions are still standing...

Great work and God Bless,

Nathan

hey B... it seems i agree with others that i think the first version is better than its revision... the overall shape and outline of the structure is much more appealing and balanced. and as other have said, i think the railing needs some reworking in the first version.

also, as you know i love concept work in LEGO MOCing... its one of the components that is frequently overlooked, consequently we see a lot of replication style MOCs. however, i love the concept of this one, mixing a traditional victorian style haunted house with a western hotel... very cool, and nicely executed.

while im not completely sold on the color scheme as others are... i do bet it works well when the structure is placed next to the official LEGO western sets, the sand green and dark orange gives us some variety in the WW. so good choice !!!

BTW, i noticed that you digitally added the signage. are you going to make actual stickers for the model ??? seems like it wouldn't display well without.

Thanks for your comments BM. A constructive MOC review would not be complete without your feedback (at least in regard to the WW theme).

In regard to the signage, yes, I just added digitally. I've been having trouble with my old color printer (color issue), and couldn't get the sticker to come out. I got frustrated and added the letters digitally. Since I have already destroyed this MOC, I'm not planning on modifying. Perhaps my next one.

were you trying to match the sand green ??? i've found that to be and easy color for home or office printers... it's the reds/browns that i have trouble with personally >:-(

so, since this MOC has lived its life, and you seem to have moved on to castles, wizards and magic :-P is this is the only MOC in the "Grave Stone series 2" ???

I would definitly say this MOC is awesome. I agree with fellow members that a set like this for the "Western" theme would have been perfect. It is too bad that Lego did not come out with a hotel. I like the color scheme you used as well. Your model is great *y*, model on.

Yes; but actually, it seems to be an issue with the yellow ink in my printer. It's not dispensing and causing all the colors to be off. It's not an ink cartridge issue as I have replaced cartridges. It's a great printer, but it is getting old. Sometimes it's fine, but other times, the colors just aren't working (plus it's streaking on occasion).

Not exactly. I did stock up on brown pieces during my recent visit to Legoland. I do plan on making some more WW MOCs. As you know, I like to bounce between themes - and there is no escape from Grave Stone... I've got a vision in the back of my head for what I might be doing next, and a few new design techniques.

How's your Train Station coming along?

Magic and sorcery is flowing in the air right now with the new Castle theme coming soon. Let's see were it takes us.

Thanks for your positive feedback Mat. I appreciate your comments. - And welcome to Eurobricks.

im thinking a lot of these new elements from the 2007 castle theme are going to be great for grave stone or any ghost town. the skeleton horses come to mind first *skull* an that scared minifig face could be incorporated well.

this maybe the first line LEGO has come out with that im actually going to buy just for parts for the ghost town theme... besides parting-out official western sets of course ;-)

I really like the new theme; but not so much for WW (although the horses would be good as well as the new skeletons). I like castle, so I'm really looking forward to the new elements of sorcery and undead to the castle theme.
