Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Well, the sets certainly have a Minecraft look to them, which can only be a good thing for accuracy. Saying that, it does mean that the sets do look rather odd, but these certainly could have turned out far worse. Overall, I'm liking those so far, but I'll reserve full judgement until official images emerge of all of the sets. Quote

BrickBob Studpants Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I for one like what I'm seeing Sure, the builds are quite simple, but they look very faithful to the game as do the mobs and the accessories I'm also fond of the crafting tables and the chests Quote
montgocloud Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Wow... I'm not sure about the other three, but the Mine, oh my! I think I'm in love Quote

Looks like it will be so fun to play with. The First Night looks cool, too! Quote

Seriously, that looks like fun and I want it badly . I don't like the design they chose for the creepers though, the feet look weird. EDIT: I'm a citizen now! HUZZAH! TheNerdyOne_ Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I'm really liking the look of these so far, quite different from the usual LEGO set, and in a good way. I think they'll be a big hit among Minecraft fans wanting minifigure-scale sets. I just hope they fill in those holes in the bases. Can't wait to see the final products! Quote
Agent Fusion Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Strange, both files have been deleted from Brickipedia. Anyone have them saved? Quote

Kez Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Wow the other two sets look even better, thanks for the links. Btw I can't wait to see the Ender dragon and creative bucket sets. Quote
Gremer Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 The Mine looks better than the others, but I'm still going to pass on it. Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 This is late commenting on my part, but both of those sets are pretty impressive, though The Mine is undoubtedly the highlight of this wave so far. Now that we've seen four of the sets, surely it's only a matter of time until pictures of the other sets emerge. I'm particularly excited for The Ender Dragon; it should be interesting to see how LEGO handles that for a set. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 For me they look like little disasters. Theproblem i see is that itseems they couldn't decide if they want to stay blocky or Legoish and we get a ridiculous looking mix. It will sell well no matter how shity it willbe anyway.... Quote
Slurpifier Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 I'm just not getting the Minecraft feel to these; they feel like they are designed by young children. I don't want to sound negative, but there is not a lot one can do when it comes to replicating Minecraft into Lego form. Quote
Kez Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 The diamond armour on Steve in the end set is cool however I don't exactly see many play features in this one compared to the mine set. I look forward to seeing the official images and the creative bucket. Quote
just2good Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 [pic] Where did you find this one? It looks pretty mediocre. After I really enjoyed the last two we saw, I was expecting this one to kick some butt. Oh well. Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 We'll, I just have to say I only like the dragon a little bit. These sets do look designed by little children though. Quote
the last chronicler Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 I think i preferred when they where adding texture to the sets by using different block types to represent different materials and using 4x4 center-stud tiles and/or round tiles to separate the different 'blocks'. While it wasn't accurate to the game, it helped add texture without printed blocks and made a clear separation between each of them. You can see this in the early designs: I quite like the one out-of-focus in the back as a primitive "first night" design. My guess is they decided to reduce tile usage to reduce the piece count and price. I get why they would use blocks with only one tile on top to represent minecraft blocks even though they won't be square, as it allows for easy stair blocks, and I'm fine with normal blocks for underground stuff as rocks are meant to look flush, I just think the surface sets could have been more detailed and more modular looking. The 'first night' set is ugly, doesn't use square blocks, has no depth, and uses a badly designed Iron door as appose to a wood door. I'm hoping some of these are still rough. The ground is too flat as well. I actually quite like the Enderdragon and the end set is reasonable accurate, and the mine captures the way Minecraft underground looks without feeling like they just took a a flat vertical slice out of the games generated terrain. The mine is very dynamic and it's #1 on my list, and I think kids will love it because it can be played with as a mine generated by the game, or as one created by the player, or both. Hopefully the creative box will actually have some "blocks" in it, because I was really hoping to retrieve more of those 4x4 centered-stud tiles. Quote
Floundie Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Ugh not liking these. If these are the final sets and not concept models it'll be a shame.. Quote
Agent Fusion Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Eh, the only two I'm interested in are the Mine and the Ender Dragon. I hope these are just concept models, I really do. Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 The Ender Dragon set looks pretty good as I expected, and I'm very impressed with the accuracy of the Ender Men. However, on a general note for all these sets, the early idea demonstrated in the picture 3 posts above mine does look vastly superior to what we are actually getting in the sets, but the sets aren't terrible. The Micro-World sets are, undoubtedly, much better examples of Minecraft in LEGO form than these minifigure-scale sets have proven to be. Quote
just2good Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) From this thread, here's a look at what seems to be the final versions of Creeper and Steve: Also, this was found in the same catalog, can someone translate it? Edited June 16, 2014 by just2good Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I'm liking the look of the minifigure version of steve. Quote
