alex54 Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 :-D I'm like ImperialScouts. When I read the "new", I thought that we will see some pirates sets in 2008! Quote
oo7 Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Nice one. When I came upon the main forum and saw 'the Sad News' post in the news subforum I believed it as it was only March 31 over here, but once I read it's content it instantly hit me. Lego would never give up Star Wars voluntarily. Although I wouln'd hesitate to say this year is our last year of Harry Potter and Batman....... Also in truth, I would be very happy it this was actually true. This would be a surefire yes to a 2008 Pirate theme. X-D Star Wars is something I could live without. I didn't buy today's joke for one second. But I also had an unfair advantage.... Quote
DoubleT Posted April 1, 2007 Author Posted April 1, 2007 I take a bow for the first one >:-) And im sure jipay will for the second he he Quote
Optimax X Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 The title half gave it way, but even if this was true, i would not be heart broken. No offence, but i kinda find april fools immature now, don't take offence to that though Quote

If anyone knows how did it start? i did realize that this was probably an april fools day joke but it was quite formal so i sort of sat in my room and shaked for a while :-D didn't really :-D Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 same here. i have never seen the point in this day. If anyone knows how did it start?i did realize that this was probably an april fools day joke but it was quite formal so i sort of sat in my room and shaked for a while :-D didn't really :-D Aww, as a City fan I was almost quite happy to hear this as I assume LEGO would then focus their efforts on City, Castle, Space etc! Unfortunately I fell for it hehe. :-$ Ah well, 2007 looks to be a good year anyway. :-D Quote
Hobbes Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 I dont really get it, :-/ You're just a day late... Quote

Corvus Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 Okay, a couple of things happened when I read this. I glanced over it as I was sitting down, read Lego have just send out a press release, that they don Quote
Paradosis Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 I wouldn't have minded if it wasn't a joke. I was sort of hoping a couple years ago that they'd be able to do a pirate set with Pirates of the Caribbean, but generally I couldn't care less about the licensed sets. I've probably spent $3000 on Lego over the last 2 years (thanks to tax returns!), and I think I've bought about 2 liscensed sets in that time period, and only those 2 because my wife likes Harry Potter stuff so I bought the sets for her. I think it'd be a step in the right direction, in one way, if Lego were to take 10 years off all the licensed stuff, and just focus on their main stuff. Back in the late 80's/early 90's everyone seemed to be happy with Space/town/pirate/castle/train, it'd be nice to see that type of focus again. I do understand, though, that from a business point of view it's just not possible, that the license merchandise is just too valuable. I guess I'm just saying that I wouldn't mind a focus on 4 or 5 really good, non-licensed themes. Quote
Norro Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Sad???!!! How so??? The glory days of lego were all pre license, the demise into financial ruin and junky sets began with the change of focus into licenses and arguably the improvement of lego in recent years has to do with becoming less license reliant... God Bless, Nathan And lets not forget how this fits into the bley debacle/conspiracy... SW pushed kids into buying sets which were basically just a hunk of grey... this led to focus group complaints.... this led to the need to o something about the grey.... and the rest is too painful to mention X-D X-D X-D !
