Horatio-Caine Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 (edited) My next Blacktron ship is ready to show, this time it forms off one of those general Vic Viper/starcraft cockpit design ideas that is pictured on FlickR somewhere, with some added folding wings thrown in. Rather fittingly it is the Blacktron Demon, fast, powerful and dark/sleek enough to launch attacks on unsuspecting craft. Given the name and backgrounds, this is one of those crafts that lurks around in the darkest, deepest places in space. A nebula might look fine to explore, but behind it or lurking in the dark near it you never know what is there. Original Yellow Space Shots Enjoy! Edited February 15, 2014 by Horatio-Caine Quote
Captain Settle Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Wow, love the wing shape. Being Blacktron just adds in the finishing touch of awesome. Well done! Quote
Faefrost Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I love the shaping. I think it could use just a touch more yellow as a trim color to really bring it out as Blacktron. Otherwise it looks more Batman than Blacktron. Maybe the 1x1 round tiles around the engines? Quote
Horatio-Caine Posted November 6, 2013 Author Posted November 6, 2013 Wow, love the wing shape. Being Blacktron just adds in the finishing touch of awesome. Well done! Thanks! I agree I think the wing shape is the standout part on this, the arched castle pieces came in handy here. I love the shaping. I think it could use just a touch more yellow as a trim color to really bring it out as Blacktron. Otherwise it looks more Batman than Blacktron. Maybe the 1x1 round tiles around the engines? Thanks, I do agree it does look a bit Batman, I was originally going to call it the Vampire but then personally liked Demon better. I like Blacktron stuff both ways, I do have a liking to it without yellow as I do want to go a bit different from the original, however I understand the Blacktroness that yellow gives it which made many love the original when it came out. Because it is computer designed (don't have the pieces/money), thankfully I can hopefully please both sides as it is simple to do some colour changing, which I have just done. I added some yellow on some of the 1x1 pieces as you said which was a good idea, I also felt it worked making the 1x2 grill pieces on top of the guns yellow too. Here's some pics of the alternate more closer to the original colour scheme version. I'll most likely do an alternate yellow version on the other Blacktron craft I will show in the future now as well. Enjoy (again!) :) Quote
Lego Otaku Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Looks like a cross between Batman and X-Wing? Nice one!! Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Nice. You should look at LDD2POVray Quote
Horatio-Caine Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 Looks like a cross between Batman and X-Wing? Nice one!! Thanks, it pretty much does look like that, it does have that X-Wing thing going on, and the wings do look a bit bat like. It's strange though as I haven't really watched Batman much at all, so I don't really know too much about the franchise, well not as much as say Star Trek (mainly) or Star Wars. Nice. You should look at LDD2POVray Thanks. The POV ray would make things look even better, however it looks as though it is for LDD, which I don't use. Since I use MLCad/LDraw then compatibility wise it doesn't look like it would work. Quote
TenorPenny Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Would love to see it made in real bricks. Lovely stuff. Quote
DraikNova Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Nice, although it could look a bit sleeker. How does it look with the wings at 90-degree angles to the body? Quote
Cult_Of_Skaro Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Any chance of making instructions for this? I'd love to build it IRL! Quote
TheOrcKing Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Yeah, Blacktron! Man, Lego brought back Space Police some years ago and the Blacktron referance keeps seeping through various sets & characters these days, they really ought to do a full comeback theme especially with designs like yours. BEAVeR Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 This is just awesome. For a small fighter this is just ideal. I love the shape and just the right amount of details. The yellow version is a jou for the eye. Keep it up, and go Battron! Quote
Horatio-Caine Posted December 27, 2013 Author Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) Wow, wasn't expecting this to be resurrected with more comments! Would love to see it made in real bricks. Lovely stuff. Thanks, sadly making it from real bricks probably won't happen, although to make it very close to a real life example, I am currently trying to get POV-Ray to work with LDraw from reading the thread on here on how to do it, although I'm having a few problems currently but hopefully a solution can be found and I can make things more realistic. Nice, although it could look a bit sleeker. How does it look with the wings at 90-degree angles to the body? Thanks, to be honest I personally didn't like the look with the wings at a 90 degree angle, I personally found them best the way they are shown, just subtly raised out a little. Any chance of making instructions for this? I'd love to build it IRL! At some point I will, I did make it in steps when doing it in LDraw so instructions can be generated. Yeah, Blacktron! Man, Lego brought back Space Police some years ago and the Blacktron referance keeps seeping through various sets & characters these days, they really ought to do a full comeback theme especially with designs like yours. This is just awesome. For a small fighter this is just ideal. I love the shape and just the right amount of details. The yellow version is a jou for the eye. Keep it up, and go Battron! Thanks for your positive comments glad you like my designs. I'm not sure if Lego will bring Blacktron back, with the recent minifigures the torso design would be perfect. It would be interesting to see what modern smoother designs Lego could do with the much more flexible range of pieces now, it would go great with a theme like that, plus more trans yellow modern windscreen pieces would be nice. DuckBricks Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 BRILLIANT MOC!!!! I absolutely LOVE the sleek design! Quote
SpaceMan Nathan Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Nice build. The weapons work really nice on the wings. I actually like it better with the wings folded in. Quote
