Infernum Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 After Capturing the eagle it must then be transported to the Eagle Farm. To do that the hunters must pass through the Stronghelm pass, an underground dwarven tunnel. The Stronghelm pass has always been one of the safest routes in Mitgardia, even if it rarely has been manned more than five guards. However, those guards are Redstone dwarves, arguably the most disciplined and well trained dwarven warriors in Historica. Two Redstone dwarves, a warrior and captain, guard the entrance. The hunters' dangerous (but locked up) cargo. Figless! The dwarves. Love these figs! Would something this size be within the 16x16 limit for the Challenge? A 16x16 base with a border? Anyway, hope you like the build! Quote
Gideon Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Lovely build, I especially like the ground and the color scheme there! A word of advice: when using double-sided faces, try to either use a headgear which covers the back side of the head, or choosing photo angles to hide it, as it looks a bit weird when a fig has eyes in the neck Quote
RonaldusMaxus Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Awesome build, but the idea is even better! Love where this is going. Quote

Yeah, I didn't notice that the dwarve literally had eyes in the back of his head until I was posting the pictures. Awesome build, but the idea is even better! Love where this is going. Thanks Mr. Maxus! Really nice work  Thanks a bunch Wedge! Quote
SlimShady Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Agree with others, great idea and offcourse, landscape is awesome like in previous vignette. Quote
HammerBro Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Very well done color combos all across the board. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Great vignette and figs I really like the detailing on the entrance to the tunnel, the 1x1 brick rounds attached to the brick modified things look pretty neat and I like those little domes. Your photos are also excellent, keep up the good work Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Love it! Definitely gives the impression of a guarded tunnel. The figs are cool too. Only slight niggle is you cut the top of the rock work when you photographed it. I do hope we see more of these Redstone dwarves! Quote
Gideon Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 To enhance the impression of a tunnel entrance, maybe a wall of black bricks or a black panel could have been used btw? Quote
The Yeti Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I like the progression from part I to part II on this. The size is also ideal, and I like the contrast between circular and square based shapes in the landscape, it creates a simple but organic feel. Like Gideon said above, however, your tunnel is nicely constructed but feels more like a well guarded arch than an entrance to a foreboding cavern. I would recommend either adding a trans black backdrop with subtle illumination or just using the gradient fill option in photoshop or gimp to create the effect of depth. Otherwise this is great, I'm glad to hear that the MItgardian economy is being bolstered by something more substantial than selling fish. Quote

I'll be sure to put them in future MOCs, just for you. To enhance the impression of a tunnel entrance, maybe a wall of black bricks or a black panel could have been used btw? Good idea! I might try the trans-black wall, as I have plenty trans-black 1x2 bricks from P-a-B. Quote
